Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

FANDOM CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

White | Pokemon Black and White (gameverse) | Reserved

[personal profile] colorblinds 2012-03-01 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: White (a renamable protagonist, but for the sake of delicious IC confusion, I'll be calling her White)
Fandom: Pokemon Black and White (gameverse)
Gender: Female
Age: 14, headcanon/based on assumed Special age
Time Period: Post-game, with the assumption she's done basically everything there is to do in-game, including the Battle Subway
Wing Color: A very pristine and glossy white, of the type that looks pretty and refractive in the sunlight
History: The article on game!Hilda, and the article on Black and White, which should summarize the game and the player's role in it when combined. If I need to include any fill-in-the-blanks headcanon, let me know, and I shall write up a more thorough recap!

Personality: (Worth noting that White is a silent protagonist -- which, in turn, makes her a bit of a canon OC with some pasted-on traits from the game. While her history is the same, her personality is almost completely up to interpretation, and my particular adaptation of her didn't change the core plot of the game or the actions she took to participate, simply the things she may have thought and felt about it.)

Sometimes, fate is a cruel and dangerous mistress to be playing around with, but generally not for White. She's always plunged into important matters headfirst, without hesitation -- while not downright reckless and not beyond thinking before she acts, she is assertive and capable, a very motivated and in-control individual who will occasionally go to great, sometimes ridiculous lengths to accomplish her goals. Her emotions are strong, and she feels incredibly deeply at all times -- when she is depressed, it is a deep, black depression; when she is enthusiastic, it is a sincere, passionate enthusiasm. She is a girl who does things with all her heart, and harbors few regrets about her actions. With her friends, if they can't stand the spotlight and aren't prepared to stand by her no matter what seemingly impossible nightmares may lie in her future, then they are generally encouraged to back out ASAP, and she won't lie to anyone about this, either.

Unafraid to speak her mind and confident in her abilities, White often comes across as an independent woman who doesn't bother with second thoughts or self-doubts. She's almost always honest and straightforward with her words, which the people she surrounds herself with seem to respect along with her emotional tenacity. It's hard not to be friends with her; unless someone makes a particular effort to get in her way or antagonize her, she will reach out to them with a warm regard, despite any lack of basis for doing so. With the sole exception of Ghetsis, for whom she has a very strong dislike because that jackass crossed the line twenty times over, she seems naturally comfortable around people, even going so far as to be concerned about total strangers. It turns out she's very sensitive to the feelings of others, and compassionate to what is quite probably a fault in some way. With people like Ghetsis, however, she seems to have difficulty letting things go, least of all a grudge against someone who has wronged her, personally or impersonally. It was not a slowly-formed, knee-jerk first impression, however, and let it be known she's not above making people who have crossed her pay, if she deems it necessary.

At the same time, White, Bianca, and Cheren have a very open and honest relationship, and can seem more like a trio of siblings than mere childhood friends, sometimes bickering with each other and sometimes protective of one another. She's also extremely fond of N, whom she respects and admires but also feels inexplicably responsible for and wants to support. The passion she applies to her Pokemon training is especially unusual; she tries to give each of her Pokemon individual attention and make sure none of them feel left out, and trusts them with perhaps more things than she would trust to even Bianca and Cheren. She takes it very hard when she can't help others, and often refuses to give up on them, to just let things die; one can imagine how hurt she must be when others around her, the people she cares about, have problems that can't be solved. In life in general, trust is very important to White, and she likes to keep her friends on equal footing with her as much as possible (except, of course, when it comes to Pokemon battling, as Cheren has found the hard way). In the same vein, if someone is beginning to wear her normally-durable trust thin or never earned it to begin with, it's not uncommon for her to start getting suspicious of them for one reason or another.

She isn't quite as intellectual as some of her friends (N and Cheren, specifically), but when she actually uses what she learns, she's a force to be reckoned with. White is by no means ditzy or dumb, and indeed likes to learn new things; although she tends to think with her heart over her head more often than not and can be stubborn and difficult to budge from one set decision, her choices are made completely without regret or second thought. She has moments revealing a more introspective and curious side of herself, showing that she actually thinks quite a lot and has some startling insight, especially in regard to human nature and behavior; she simply appears to prefer bonding with others heart-to-heart than impressing them with her dazzling wit. Her strength is not in intellect, no, but rather in adaptation, with which she can enter into gym leader matches and come out little worse for wear after catching onto the strategy and patterns of the opponent, to pick up the knack of something after only a short period of experience, and to adjust to new situations. In addition to these talents, White has a nearly magnetic personality, making it hard for people to truly dislike her -- assuming, of course, she's not getting in the way of their evil deeds or anything.

White has a sense of humor and an odd love of mischief that presents itself occasionally, too. She's not above fooling around with friends in the least dignified way possible, and doesn't mind being silly with her best friends, at that. To her, there's no better way of being at ease and unguarded, just enjoying life. Usually, the teasing is very tame, though; she doesn't mind getting mildly physical (in fact, she tends to be quite touchy-feely with people she trusts), and isn't all that hesitant about using any femininity to rile anyone up, though it does not come up often. Romance in general is an almost sacred topic to her, even so; though she's pretty feminine in most ways, even in her zeal and drive to always do better than before, there's a part of her that adamantly refuses to judge people by gender like that or try to take advantage of it, and so she tries to view her friends as people, not as a male-this or a female-that. This is true of her Pokemon, as well, for she views them all on the same level as humans, a viewpoint only reinforced by her adventures in Unova.

White is unswervingly loyal and dedicated to her cause, and sometimes seems more like a force of nature than a mere human. In short, everything about her is warm, not cold, and that can often be an understatement. (If she ever goes cold, even for a moment, that means something is very, very wrong, and she will probably fuck your shit up in half a second if you don't act fast.) Though she is sometimes afraid of things greater than her that she feels she cannot handle or overcome, however rare those are, she covers for it by hiding behind cheer and unyielding determination. And truly, she appears to be very open and friendly on the surface, but this may not be entirely the case. When you watch White in action, she doesn't seem very relenting at all... but that's because there's another level to her. She likes everyone to think that she shares everything and has no secrets -- "what you see is what you get", that's the impression people get from White, of course, and it's always been that way. But inside there's a deeper layer, a more thoughtful layer, where she understands everything and wants to help people. She has a strong natural defense: instead of pushing everybody away so that they can't touch her innermost core, she seems to prefer to make friends with everybody, so that they all THINK they know her really well, while keeping that core, that little pearl of who she really is hidden. She is still innately honest, sometimes blunt, but is still able to hide her more insightful side impressively well. Even if she does not tell the whole truth, which is not actually all that uncommon as opposed to the worst alternative (lying outright), it can be difficult for her to live with the guilt of not being completely truthful with those who she's supposed to trust with everything. In the end, White is a good person, though -- she doesn't like hurting others, but can unintentionally wind up becoming the guilty party anyway by poor, miscalculated wording in high-emotion situations, or concealing something from someone else in an attempt to protect them.

Strengths:

+ Has drive and determination on par with the fieriest of shounen protagonists; might as well BE a shounen protagonist, if a significantly less dense one
+ Good at adapting to changes in environment and in circumstances, and can battle and think on the fly with that skill as well
+ Honest, forthright, and unwilling to lie; very friendly and emotionally tenacious
+ A compassionate, caring girl who would go out of her way to befriend anyone crossing her path who needed it
+ Basic survival skills, though it's all learned through trial and error over time

Weaknesses:

- Thinks with her heart over her head by default; a bit less of an intellect than Cheren or N, though by no means stupid or incapable of intelligent lines of thought
- That compassion mentioned above can make her a bit of a bleeding heart who can't stand to not help out sometimes, even when she shouldn't get involved
- Occasionally straightforward to the point of bluntness, sometimes even at precisely the wrong moment
- Has one or two moral and emotional struggles she still contends with; primarily, the issue of confining Pokemon in capsules from a different angle that N introduced to her, and a somewhat similar problem to what Cheren also encountered in her purpose of traveling and training
- Usually pretty good about this, but she can be a little inflexible regarding certain opinions differing from hers at times, if only internally; mostly involving how people train and care for their Pokemon, and their human friends to boot

GRANTED~

Yuriko Omega - History

[personal profile] notshadowfever 2012-03-01 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: Yuriko Omega
Fandom: Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
Gender: Female
Age: Early 20s
Time Period: After the events of her campaign in Red Alert 3: Uprising
Wing Color:
History:
http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Yuriko_Omega (This is fairly good but this wiki is littered with headcanon and inaccurate info, so I'll provide a brief history myself too.)

Yuriko was born Yuriko Matsui in Tanabe, Japan, also known as the Empire of the Rising Sun and started to exhibit simple psionic powers, such as levitating objects, from a very early age. Because of her powers she become an outcast at school.

The government soon learned about her abilities and she was taken away to the Shiro Sanitarium, which was in fact a research centre run by Dr. Shimada, dedicated to psionics research and its applications in weapons technology among other things. While there, Yuriko underwent experiments and training to develop her powers, gaining a variety of new psychic talents. However, Shimada and his team went to efforts to make sure that Yuriko forgot about her past, not only wiping her memory of her childhood but also trying to force her to forget any talents she had learned.

Not much is known about what went on inside the facility, but years later she awakened one day to a message being sent to her telepathically. The voice identified herself as Izumi and claimed to be Yuriko's "sister". She urged Yuriko to break free of the facility and Yuriko escaped her cell, fighting her way through hordes of guards and robots. As she travelled through the facility, she came across computer terminals with files detailing her powers and as she read the reports, she regained some of her memories and with them, some of her powers.Unfortunately, Yuriko was trapped at the exit to the sanitarium and taken back to her cell.

Shiro Psychic Research employed cloning technology, which they used to make an army of Yuriko clones which they mostly didn't use as soldiers on the battlefield, but to fuel their new psionic superweapons that were to be deployed on the battlefield when the Empire went to war with the Soviet Union and the Allied Nations.

During the war, Yuriko herself was deployed on the battlefield, fitted with an inhibitor unit that limited her powers and her freedom. Perhaps partially due to this unit, but also due to her previous failure at escaping, Yuriko decided to fight on the Empire's side and saw combat with forces from both enemy sides. However, despite her power and her success at destroying enemy battalions, the Empire was soon driven back by the joint forces of the Soviets and the Allies, and Yuriko found herself guarding the Imperial Palace as Tokyo prepared to defend itself from the Allied military. She was unsuccessful here as well and was later captured by the Allies after they found her unconcious in the ruins of the palace.

She was taken to an Allied detention facility in Guam along with other high-profile prisoners from both the Empire and the Soviet Union, who had betrayed the Allies after Tokyo. There, the prisoners were cryogenically frozen, including Yuriko.

Some time after her imprisonment, Yuriko again heard the voice of Izumi, who urged her to break free of her bonds and come and rescue her from Dr. Shimada, who was still keeping her prisoner in the sanitarium. Yuriko set about freeing the camp's prisoners, who staged an uprising against the Allies, the chaos providing Yuriko enough cover to tear the whole base apart and escape back to Japan.

Once there, she broke into the Shiro Sanitarium and stormed the place, killing everyone who got in her way. While there, she accessed confidential files on the computer terminals scattered across the facility and discovered that Shimada was creating thousands of Yuriko clones. She fought her way through the facility, trying to find an elevator that would lead to Shimada's lab. The scientist repeatedly destroyed every elevator in the facility while he tried to buy time for his troops to kill Yuriko. Eventually, Yuriko reached the lab and confronted Shimada.

A battle ensued between Shimada's guards and Yuriko, and she destroyed them all, finally killing Dr. Shimada even as he pleaded with her and told her she was making a mistake. With Shimada dead, the shield trapping Izumi in her pod was disabled, freeing Izumi. This was no happy reunion, however, as Izumi soon revealed that she was going to prove she was more powerful than Yuriko and a fight broke out between the two. Izumi was eventually killed and in her rage, Yuriko destroyed the facility and left for the surface, asking herself one question: "What do I do now?"

【RESERVE: Souji Okita - Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan】《Character Info + History》

[personal profile] unkie 2012-03-01 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: Souji Okita
Fandom: Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Time Period: Shortly after being diagnosed with tuberculosis (mid-chapter 2, circa July 1865)
Wing Color: Green of this variety
History: His pre-canon history is practically identical to that of the historical figure, and that can be read here and here. One thing to note, however, is that Hakuouki uses the 1842 birth year.

Where Hakuouki begins is January 1864, just a few months after the Shinsengumi is firmly established in Kyoto. This is when Hakuouki's protagonist, Chizuru, first arrives in the city and witnesses something she shouldn't have--the human experiments that the shogunate ordered the Shinsengumi to carry out, corrupting their own soldiers and giving them vampire-like qualities, called furies. Okita, along with Hijikata and Saitou, was on patrol when they noticed her, and had to take her in as a prisoner when they realized that she had seen their secret. The Shinsengumi was debating on whether or not she should be killed when she told them that she had come to Kyoto looking for her father, Koudou Yukimura, who had in fact initially conducted the research on the furies. Coincidentally, he had gone missing, and with Chizuru around finding him would be much easier. So they decided to keep her alive for the time being, albeit much like a prisoner.

It wasn't until quite a few months later when Hijikata finally grants Chizuru permission to leave headquarters to search for her father, under the condition that she stays with group doing the rounds at the time. The first group that she goes on rounds with is Okita's, and while out the Shinsengumi manage to arrest a Choshu (ronin who wanted to overthrow the shogunate and have the emperor back in power, essentially enemies of the Shinsengumi) activist, and they learned that they were meeting tonight and planning to set fire to Kyoto on a hot, windy day.

So the Shinsengumi organized that night for something that would eventually be called the Ikedaya Incident. As they infiltrated the Choshu meeting, Okita headed upstairs, and encountered with some unusual people. Not knowing anything about them he assumed they were also Choshu, and attacked... Which wasn't such a good idea. While Okita never learned this at the moment, but this was a group of demons, and had exceptional strength. The one he picked a fight with, Chikage Kazama, easily subdued him and gave him a very hard kick into the chest. He began coughing up blood, barely able to stand, and that's when Kazama made his way off.

From that point on, it became clear that Okita's health was not in the best shape, and was required to stay back at headquarters. So when the Shinsengumi was called upon to subdue a Choshu rebellion, he wasn't allowed to go. When the shogun came to visit Kyoto and the Shinsengumi was summoned to guard him, he wasn't allowed to go. A lot of whining and complaining at Hijikata ensued.

It isn't until nearly a year later when the Shinsengumi as a whole is getting checkups that Okita is finally diagnosed with tuberculosis. The doctor, Ryojun Matsumoto, encouraged him to leave the Shinsengumi and go somewhere with clean air so that he might recuperate, but he refused. He believed that since he knew now that his life was significantly shortened, he had to give his all to do his work, not run away from it. Finally, he asked that the doctor not tell any of the others, especially Kondou, about his illness.

Greg Lestrade // BBC's Sherlock // Part 2

[personal profile] consultsdetective 2012-03-01 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
A person's first impression of Greg Lestrade is likely to see him coming across as tired, cynical, sarcastic and rather put-upon, especially as far as his first appearance in A Study in Pink is concerned. He answers questions from the press very frankly and succinctly, not lending much apparent thought to how to be diplomatic- and not comfortable with all the focus being put on him, by the looks of things. Excess attention isn't something that he's fond of, least of all when he's in the middle of a set of cases that are clearly somehow connected, with no clue as to what's really connecting them. The interview and his general shortcomings in handling it without botching the whole thing (by which I mean the fact that some of his best advice on staying safe in the event that this turns out to be a serial killer is "don't commit suicide") mostly seem to lie in his trusting the guidance of Sally Donovan, one of his subordinates. She actually does a fair job as sort of a steering wheel and public relations standby, showing that it's apparently trust well placed... regardless of the fact that Sherlock Holmes continually interrupts the press conference by texting every person in the room all at once. It's another interesting thing to note for a first impression of this older, world-weary sort of man, the fact that he's annoyed by Sherlock's interference but not to the point of legitimate anger (not to the point where he would call or text to go off on him about it).

And this is likely because of the fact that he knows he's going to need to ask for Sherlock's help in cracking the case. Throughout the series, it's shown that Lestrade is well aware of the fact that Sherlock is damn useful and that he can get a criminal locked up where he belongs faster if he brings him in to consult on a difficult case. In a profession where what you come by on your own merits is undoubtedly important, this says a lot about Lestrade and his priorities. He's not too proud to admit to needing help or to being at a loss. He's got tenacity in spades and the ability to compromise when he knows he needs to, which probably had a lot to do with his getting to be a D.I. Catching a criminal, closing a case, putting a victim's family at ease as soon as possible, that's more important than getting around to it with his own two hands. It's the justice of the matter that seems to be the most important to Lestrade, which speaks volumes about his character in itself.

On the whole, Lestrade is just a good guy. He knows the difference between right and wrong, he believes in consequences to every action, and it's the desire to see some good done in the world that likely made him take to a career in law enforcement. However it is that he can get that good done, whether it means bending a less-than-important rule or letting unauthorized personnel onto crime scenes, doing the right thing seems to always be high on his priorities list. His team seems to be fond of him and respect him, at the least enough to let him let Sherlock Holmes horn in on their work without lodging any official complaints, and it seems like he has a healthy dose of respect for them in return. He gave Sherlock a chance and something to keep him occupied when it's implied in canon that he met him as a drug user- he still gives him chances, he still keeps him occupied, when he doesn't have any real obligation to do so. Lestrade is a responsible individual who recognizes the importance of just trying to be a good person now and again. Not too surprising, considering how often he gets to see the worst sides humanity has to offer.

It would be unfair to go through this section without bringing up his relationship with Sherlock- a very unique one that I would call three parts professional and one part personal. Lestrade is one of very few people in the world who could be called a 'friend' of Sherlock Holmes, and is apparently enough of one to merit being used as an unknowing hostage by Moriarty later in the game. One of the series writers has even said in an interview that Sherlock is "actually terribly fond of Lestrade. He doesn't know it yet, but he is. I think he got to him in a way he hadn't been got to before. It just sort of happened." Unique... doesn't begin to describe it. Lestrade recognizes Sherlock's intellect and usefulness, and apparently has for 5+ years. He goes to him for assistance, asks questions, respects him, admires him a bit, tries to make him see that society's rules do in fact apply to him. He's patient enough with Sherlock's unorthodox methods and lack of social skills, but he won't take too much and let himself just be walked all over. Knowing Sherlock would find and hang onto a piece of important evidence in the first episode, Lestrade takes no issue with setting up a "drugs bust" to coerce him into cooperating fully. He sets it out for Sherlock very clearly- the case is Scotland Yard's and he is letting him in on it. It almost feels like an odd backseat professionally paternal relationship, or at the very least Lestrade's got a bit of an obvious soft spot. He puts up with and argues to death with annoying, frustrating, impossible Sherlock Holmes and there's a fifty-fifty chance he'll be grinning to himself when the man walks away. They work together and keep up a general air of getting along... as much as anyone who isn't John really tends to, in Sherlock's world.

(Really, to sum it up, I'd reference two quotes from A Study in Pink:

"This is childish."
"Well, I'm dealing with a child."

"...because Sherlock Holmes is a great man. And I think one day- if we're very very lucky- he might even be a good one."

He needs him, he respects him, he's endlessly annoyed and likely to wind up arguing with him over something. Sherlock's young, clever, and nearly always about to do incredibly stupid things if left to his own devices, and he seems to try his best to help prevent that. He feels responsible for him, but not to the point where he shields him from things.)

Re: Red | Pokemon Special | Reserved

[personal profile] bravefighter 2012-03-01 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: "Pokemon Trainer. Someone who spends his life with, trusts, and is trusted by his Pokemon." A phrase that was nearly long forgotten, Blaine suddenly remembered it when he saw Red, with his Pokemon. It's not a trait most trainers are shown with, but it was quickly revealed in Red's actions. He trusts his Pokemon, and in return, they trust him. It doesn't stop with just Pokemon either. Red is a very trusting individual in general, and it's shown fairly often. Even if he's left with a former enemy, and forced to work together with them, he'll trust them still. He even trusts a suspicious character when they first meet, believing that she isn't up to anything evil.

Red was given the title "Fighter" from Professor Oak. This is due to the fact of his instinctual fighting style, which is described in the series as Red being "Born with a sense for battle." He's very quick on his feet, and quick to think, while he's battling. Towards the end of the Red/Blue/Green arc, Professor Oak mentions that Red and Green compliment each other. They exchanged some battle traits, since when Red starts out, he's very brash while battling. It's shown later that he becomes very level headed and calm while he battles, or even in most situations, when before he would act without thinking. Green's influence over him eventually secured the fact that Red actually backed his instinctual battling style with his intellect, and hence made his battling style increase tenfold.

While battling, he has a few other quirks, as well. He's very determined and focused when he's fighting, and even if there's not a chance of winning, he chooses to continue to fight. Even with no chances, he's always relatively calm and level-headed about it, and hence, can make a comeback. Another thing about his battling style is that he always plays fair, even if someone doesn't. Giovanni knocks out one of his Pokemon, and then gives himself a handicap, but Red decided to take that handicap too, stating how he wanted to make it a fair fight. Against any adversary, he likes the battle to be even. He even states how there's no fun in fighting an enemy that's weakened. Despite all this, he takes after Green, and knows his limits with battling. So even if there's no chance of winning, if he thinks there's a chance, he'll take it. This is shown in his final battle with Giovanni, where he doesn't stop trying. Deoxys even remarks, "You just keep going. You never gave up. Not even when you're driven into a corner or injured all over!" He just never gives up or gives in, no matter the circumstances.

As a kid, he was a lot more forward about his abilities. He brags, boasts, and shows off to anyone that will listen. As he starts to get older, however, he starts to get more modest, and even awkward about his abilities. It's not that he thinks lowly of his abilities, though, but that there's no real point in showing off. The only way to determine how strong someone truly is is to battle them and find out yourself, after all, so he decides to follow that state of being. Something that never changes though, is his feelings about his friends. No matter what, he's always looking out for their well-being. As a result, he doesn't stand for his friends being wronged, shown when he jumps off the handle about Blue not being able to meet her parents, going after the person who caused it to happen. Though, as soon as something about relationships or girls pops up, he gets fairly embarrassed. That's also something that changed from his childhood, where he was always trying to impress and show off around girls.

A basic synopsis of Red would be that he's happy-go-lucky, optimistic, and sociable. He makes friends fairly easily, and keeps them around easily. He's also a very reliable and dependable person, almost always getting what he says he's going to do done. Another trait about him is that he's very heroic, even going on a seemingly self-sacrificial mission at the end of Fire Red/Leaf Green to help a town from a crashing airship, that he had to steer away. He sent Yellow and Mewtwo off the ship, though, not wanting them to get hurt.

Strengths: Red has a typical level of physical, mental, and emotional strength for a human. There's not much different about him being a human, other than his ability to take a bunch of hits and still keep going. He's had his back smashed by a rock and he was still able to keep going, but that's just a protagonist power.

Combat wise, he's the best battler of the Pokedex Holders, Green being second closest to him. He's constantly shown as the best of them, battling wise, and was the Champion of the Kanto Pokemon League, for a bit. He even passes his Gym Aptitude Test with more than enough time.

Though, just because he's the battler, that doesn't mean he's great at fighting on his own. He can throw a punch and the like, but he mainly fights with his Pokemon! The three Pokemon he's going to be bringing with him are Poli the Poliwrath, Saur the Venusaur, and Pika the Pikachu. They are the Pokemon that have been with him the longest, and they went through the most together.

All of his Pokemon have very handy moves, as well. The Pokemon in Special are a bit different than the games, though, and seem to know all of their moves, instead of just four. Poli has Water Gun, Ice Beam, Seismic Toss, DoubleSlap, Double Team, Focus Punch, and Mind Reader. The main move he seems to use, even outside of battle, is Ice Beam. He uses it to cross a river on his bike, lay traps, and various other things. Despite Poli being a water Pokemon, he can't surf on it, though, and will most likely just use him as a flotation device if necessary.

Saur was the Pokemon that Professor Oak gave him, and was his first Pokemon other than Poli. Saur has plenty of moves, as well. Vine Whip, Solar Beam, Poison and Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, Cut, and Sweet Scent. The main move that is used is Frenzy Plant, though. Frenzy Plant is Saur's ultimate attack, and is extremely powerful.

Pika is Red's iconic Pokemon. He's shown with it often, just like Red from gameverse, and Ash from the anime. As a result, Pikachu is one of his strongest Pokemon. Its moveset is Thundershock, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Toxic, Substitute, Surf, Bide, Rage, Iron Tail, and finally Volt Tackle. Volt Tackle is Pika's ultimate attack, and the strongest of his moves, just like Saur's Frenzy Plant. Pika is probably used in battle the most, despite it not being the highest level, and is used in almost all the final battles.

Weaknesses: Red is just a normal human being. As a result, he has the normal weaknesses a human have, physically mentally and emotionally. Anything that is normally fatal to a human is fatal to Red. He can't magically stop bullets and the like. He gets hurt just like every other human does, with less of a fatality rate because of being a protagonist. There's not much different there at all.

The only notable sign of weakness that he showed was in the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc. When Lorelei froze his wrists and ankles, it left major harm on his joints. He struggled to move his wrists and ankles, to the point that it was painful. Something as simple as water could aggravate the injury, and cause his legs to go out from under him. This is shown in his Gym Aptitude Test, when the enemy floods the battle zone and causes Red to fall on one knee. As a result of this handicap, he felt as if he wasn't suited to become a Gym Leader, and rejected his acceptance. This weakness was already fixed by the end of the arc, however, when he went to Mt. Silver and rested in the hot springs there.

Another thing that could technically be listed as a weakness would be how protective he is of his friends. A lot of the time, if his friends are in danger, or were hurt in some way, he jumps straight into the fray. This can be either a good or bad thing. When Green was fighting Koga, Red ran straight into the room and right into a trap. So this seems bad, if he's brash and doesn't think when his friends are in danger, but it also caused enough of a distraction for Green to get a hit in on Koga. The other time this happens is when Blue didn't get to meet her parents, and when Red finds out who caused this to happen, he rushes into the fight without a second thought. This causes him to get nearly hit by an explosion. In that moment, it feels like it would be a weakness. He doesn't tend to think when it comes to his friends in danger.

First Person:

[Waking up in a weird place? Check.

Waking up with only pants on? Check.]

What the heck is going on? [Red sat up scratching at the back of his head, taking a glance around. Well, at least his clothes are right there. And... huh? A book... He picks it up, flipping through it.] I mean, all of this is really weird, but... Jeez.

[Well. Time to change back into his clothes! Swapping out those pants, putting on his socks and shoes, before--] --Hey! Where the heck are my pokeballs?!

[That is definitely not cool. He's glances around, panicked, before--] Okay, I just gotta think... How'd I manage to get here? [He couldn't remember anything odd, anyway. Or anyone that would take his clothes off like that.] Man... none of this is making any sense.

[Okay, next plan! Time to get dressed fully. Putting on that undershi-- whoa what.]

Wh... What's on my back... ? [Reaching back, and-- Oh god. Feathers... ?] H-Huh?! What happened?! Why do I have-- [Flutter flutter...] wings...

[Okay. No shirt for now. First thing's first, we are looking for our pokemon and some god damn answers. Hat on means adventure mode begins!] Okay! Time to figure out what's going on in this place!

[Or, well...] ... As soon as I figure out which way to go, anyway...

[... Hmm...]

Whatever, let's just go this way! [Off in a random direction! With his shirt and vest in hand.]

Third Person: Wandering around this place wasn't too bad, once Red got used to it. It was somewhat peaceful, and reminded him a bit of Viridian City. A small town, surrounded by a forest. It wasn't quite the same, but it still gave him a calming feeling of nostalgia every time he passed through. It was the closest thing to anything like home, and it was always relaxing. He would often take walks through here, either looking for a challenge, or just to walk.

The battle dome was good for challenges, after all, and the other Pokedex holders that were here were also good for practicing. Even if he was searching for challengers, he always knew where to find one. It was just a force of habit. There were so many challengers back home, even after he stopped being the Champion, so it was just a normal part of life for him. That habit was hard to break, and he always expected for someone to just appear and challenge him. Eyes lock, and the battle would usually begin. It wasn't the same here.

In fact, it really was just relaxing here. To take a line from someone else, "Nothing amazing happens here." Or, well, that wasn't always correct. There were experiments, and various other things that were common occurrences, but there was plenty of off time. Even when he discovered he had these wings, it wasn't too big of a deal. Well, it was, but it was quickly gotten over. He was more focused on finding his Pokemon, when he first arrived. His friends, his partners, his family. They were the most important thing, that he had to find. Once he did, that was about it! Finding the other Dex holders was also an excellent surprise. Hence, life here wasn't so bad. He had everything he needed, after all, and there wasn't that many conflicts here.

It was peaceful.

http://wikimoon.org/index.php?title=Sailor_Mars

A few notes for clarity:
Rei is the daughter of a wealthy politician, and a priest at the Hikawa Shrine in Tokyo. She attends a private school, provided for by her father. She lives at the shrine with her grandfather, and has at best an estranged relationship with her father. Her mother died when she was quite young. She has two pet crows that have a spiritual connection to her, Phobos and Deimos. The birds revealed themselves to her when she was a child, and much later awaken into something much more.

She was discovered by the Moon Cats and Sailor Moon at the shrine, and was the second of the Inner Senshi to be revealed in the 20th Century.

At some unclear point before the end of the Dark Moon arc, Rei’s only real romantic interest falls apart. She is somewhat interested in a kind guy who works for her father. Her dad's assistant, who ended up marrying someone else to further his career, when he promised he wouldn't do that to his family thus further driving Rei away from romance.

Rei is drawn from the end of the final battle against the Dark Kingdom, where she has just witnessed the deaths of all of her friends save Usagi. She herself sacrifices her own life to save her friend so that the Earth can be preserved from Queen Beryl.

Rei Hino/Sailor Mars | Sailor Moon (Manga) | Reserved

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2012-03-01 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Rei Hino is often described as the ideal Japanese woman. She is beautiful, intelligent, and reserved, with a penchant for being somewhat aloof. To people that she does not know, she often comes across as cold and uncaring, or sarcastic and distant. This seems to be caused at least in part by her strange psychic abilities, which have made some people afraid of her. This helped her create a sort of mental and emotional barrier that she uses to keep people out. It also lends strength to her notably biting wit when it comes to dealing with people that annoy her.

This, however, is a bit different when dealing with her close friends, the other Senshi in particular. She often attempts to act as a sort of big sister towards them, her maturity and distant nature often finding themselves at odds with her overenthusiastic companions. Rei genuinely cares for each and every one of them, and it shows despite her best efforts to hide it. When the façade does break, she is every bit as enthusiastic and friendly as Usagi is bubbly.

Another major personality trait for Rei is her distrust of men. She has had very few respectable males in her life, and as such has formed a relatively low opinion of them, regarding them as emotionally weak. Her father, in particular, helped craft this opinion, having abandoned her emotionally when she was very young due to his work. Rei genuinely seems disinterested in romance of any sort, and even discourages her friends from forming romantic attachments.

The trait that most sets Rei apart from the other Senshi is her spirituality. She is a Shinto priestess, or miko, at the Hikawa shrine and is deeply committed to it. She dreams of becoming the head priest at the shrine in the future, eventually taking over for her grandfather. Shinto, the spiritual native religion of Japan, holds a major influence over nearly every aspect of her life. She disdains modern society, maintaining that it is better to practice the old ways than the new. Rei is skilled at meditation, and makes it a point to center herself nightly. She observes various Shinto rituals, and as such could be described as a superstitious person. For Rei, the spirits of the world are very much real, and very much important. Her anachronistic ways do often put her at odds with friends, particularly her dislike of many modern things. Television, video games, and other parts of most teenagers’ lives are things she actively avoids.

Rei’s relationship with the others is also somewhat different due to her family’s wealth. She attends a private (EXPENSIVE), Catholic school, as opposed to the other Senshi, who all go to public schools. She summarily has received a better basic education in many ways, which is something that occasionally causes her to snark at them. She can also be described as somewhat snotty, and definitely not interested in the foolishness that people often engage in, not just her friends. This prominently is displayed in her dealings with less refined individuals. She often gets cold, displaying her sarcastic side a bit more prominently.

Strengths

Physical:
As a Senshi, Rei is capable of transforming into an alternate form: Sailor Mars, the Soldier of Flame and Passion. In this alternate form, she is capable of both generating and controlling flame. She is able to release devastating bursts of flame that immolate her enemies. Most of her Senshi powers in this regard are offensive, though there are instances where she crafts walls of flame. Additionally, she is much tougher and more agile, able to nimbly move with superhuman grace from place to place, jump extremely high, and perform other feats of dexterity. Her physical strength is also increased, most particularly with regards to her kicks.

As a miko, Rei is also shown to have talents for archery and aikido, the two most traditional ways for women to defend themselves. Her skill with a bow is utilized in some of her Senshi attacks, and her hand to hand abilities, while not strong, are considerably more than most normal people.

Mental
Rei is one of the few Senshi with supernatural talents not tied to her role as a Senshi. She, as a miko, has some minor psychic abilities. These include ESP, the ability to read visions in flame, the ability to sense evil, and the ability to use ofuda scrolls. These strange powers lead her to occasionally have visions and premonitions of upcoming events, as well as to actually banish and contain evil. Primarily used in her role as a priest, the scrolls actually bind evil, preventing it from taking action. Additionally, Rei is well educated in a variety of subjects. As a student at an expensive private school, she received some of the best tutelage anyone in Japan could ask for. Of particular note are her skills in traditional Japanese arts and crafts. She’s known for her expert calligraphy, and interest in tea-ceremonies.

Social/Emotional
Rei is an extremely determined and spiritual person. She is the sort of girl who will never give up under any circumstances, willing to fight to the end for what she believes in. This is most prevalent in the final confrontation with the Dark Kingdom, where she sacrifices her own life to save Usagi, thereby enabling Sailor Moon to defeat the enemy. Rei fights on through a mortal wound, immolating herself and her foe, showing true grit and nerves of steel. Her spirituality, as a priest, affords her a means to stay centered and focused. She is very much a priestly figure, with a great deal of faith. She has a strong sense of honor and tradition, as well, tied to her role as a miko.

Weaknesses

Physical
While outside of her transformed state, Rei is not much more than a normal person. She has some measure of toughness due to her physical fitness, but she is not really a fighter. And she is very much a human being, which means that all the usual things that can hurt someone do hurt her. Plus, she is fairly small, being a Japanese teenager, which does not lend itself to any real physical strength.

Mental:
In this department, Rei doesn’t have any particular weaknesses, but she doesn’t have any particular strengths. She is intelligent, but she’s not a genius. Moreover, she’s still very young, and therefore may not have much of a grasp on how certain things work.

Emotional:
Rei does have a bit of a temper, which often tends to flare up at just the wrong moment. There are many, many instances where she just gets frustrated with everything around her and simply shuts down, turning cold. Her anger is less of a powder keg, and more amping up her usual aloofness and distance. She also gets frustrated with many aspects of modern society, she often snaps at strangers, and her ever-present distrust of men are also prevalent weaknesses.

And here you are!

History

[personal profile] oniclaws 2012-03-01 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
History: Wikipedia article.

Very very little is known about Micah's past before he came to Sharance. In-game, Micah is first introduced as a golden wooly lost out in the rain. He is quickly rescued by Shara, one of the girls in the town. She makes him comfortable in her bed and wanders off. Partway through the night, he changes back to a human, and by morning, he wakes, only to recall nothing, and in a blind panic, he flees Shara's house. He quickly runs into a girl named Raven, and Shara. When asked about his name and where he came from, he can only shake his head, saying he doesn't remember. So he's told to give himself a name and make a living for himself in the Sharance Tree.

Following this, Micah meets everyone in the town, and quickly befriends them, despite all their oddities. Soon enough, he hears rumors of a raccoon terrorizing the town, and decides to investigate, feeling the need to look after his newfound home. When he learns it's taken up residence in Priveria Forest, he takes off after it, and faces it in battle. After the battle, he discovers a mysterious orb. Upon touching it, he's granted a vague memory. In this memory, he hears the words of his father, telling him about his monster blood, and how to use the transformation rune he'd earlier discovered in his rucksack. It is at this point he recalls how to change back and forth between his wooly and human forms, and some of the brawling skills he'd learned. He decides to keep this a secret from the villagers of Sharance, feeling they might find it weird, and would therefore force him out.

He decides he should look for more orbs and heads home. On his way there, he sees Zaid, a member of the Univir settlement hidden within the desert. On attempting to chase him, he's stopped by Wells, the mayor of Sharance. Wells warns him not to go into the desert, but Micah chooses to disregard the warning, being curious about the foreigner. He discovers the settlement, but as a human, he was driven out. Only when he transformed into his wooly form, was he granted entrance to the settlement. And so he meets the people of the settlement, Kuruna, Ondurus, and Zaid. Through them, he learns that the Univir were driven out of Sharance a long time ago due to some conflict between them and the people there.

When he finally heads home, he noticies that the Sharance tree has grown. This word is quickly spread to the rest of the village, and they all come to admire it and question how it happened. Micah, however, has other business to attend to, and goes to talk to Wells about the settlement. He soon learns that Wells hates the Univir as much as Kuruna hates humans. So he lets it go for a little while to work on making the new room in the Sharance Tree into a proper work room.

When he next visits the settlement, Kuruna gives him an errand to do with Zaid, that is, to fetch a particular flower from a certain cactus in the desert, but by doing so, they cause a skeletal monster to rampage near the settlement. So they fight it off. At its defeat, Micah discovers a second orb. He learns then, that he was a guard of some kind, and that he was protecting another town from an unknown enemy before coming to Sharance.

Shortly after this, he returns home to discover Sakuya had made him dinner, but when he goes to the inn, he discovers Sakuya had been attacked by a lion-like monster. Soon enough, more reports of the lion monster filter in from all over the village, and eventually, someone says it appeared to go into Oddward Valley. So of course, Micah chases after it. He finds no monster, but the remains of what Sakuya had made was there deep within the valley. So it's back to the village to do some more investigating. Eventually, he learns that people who have Salted Char are the ones that are being attacked. So he goes to make the dish himself, in order to lure out the monster. But when he lures it out, it turns out it wasn't one, but two lion monsters, one red, one blue. Once again, he takes them on, and discovers a third orb.

The third orb contains the memory of him chasing after monsters. But not just any monsters. He was, in fact, chasing after the very same monsters he'd been hunting down and defeating around Sharance. Funny coincidence, that. In addition to the ones he's already fought, he remembers a fourth, important and dangerous monster, and that it needed to be sought out immediately. The last logical place to go, was of course, the snowy Vale River.

Naturally, the final monster being what it is, put Micah through a number of trials before Micah could even get close to him. But again, in the end, it was the same cycle of find, fight, defeat, and discover an orb.

The final orb gives him the memory that he is supposed to be the one to get the Sharance flowers to bloom. He wonders why that would be part of his memory, but continues on. So he decides to ask Wells how he could get that to happen. Wells informs him that it hasn't happened for 50 years. He believes that they won't bloom because of the Univir. Apparently the Univir used to live in the village, but since they left, the tree stopped flowering. Wells believes they must have done something to the tree that would have caused it to stop flowering.

So Micah goes to the settlement, and asks Ondorus how he could make the flowers blossom. Ondorus says it would be difficult, because the Sharance flowers are special, and will only bloom when the "bond beyond the races" can be attained. In other words, humans and Univir must get along, otherwise the tree will never bloom. Ondorus then follows this with telling Micah it's too difficult to make amends. Micah volunteers himself to do the dirty work, and reveals his human form to Ondorus.

Once Ondorus gets over his surprise, the two decide to hold a festival, in order to unite the settlement and the village once again. A "Unity Festival". Ondorus says he'll talk to Kuruna, while Micah handles the townspeople. From then on, it's a fight to convince Wells, and Micah argues that they used to live together, and that he knows how to get the flowers to bloom. When asked how, Micah reveals that he spoke to Ondorus and tells Wells about the "bond beyond the races" and how it's nourishment for the flowers. Wells doesn't believe, so Micah tells him the tree grew because he made contact with the Univir settlement. Wells continues to argue and says that Micah has no evidence, but Micah counters that he is the proof and reveals he is half monster and half human and that his contact with the settlement linked both village and settlement. He transforms and Wells is finally shocked into believing Micah is telling the truth. And so Wells finally agrees, on the condition that Micah reveals himself to the townspeople.

So everyone is gathered up, there's a big discussion and a big reveal. Surprisingly, most everyone could care less, stating that he's "just a wooly" and that they didn't care if he was a monster, because they liked him for who he was. Hooray, fanfare, as everyone agrees to the Unity Festival.

But when Micah heads back to the settlement, he discovers that Kuruna is utterly pissed that anyone had dared to suggest they reconcile and wants nothing to do with the process. Ondorus had apparently been unable to convince her. Micah insists they try and goes to talk to her, to tell her that it would be a festival to bring monsters and humans together. She is surprised, asking why Micah would suggest such a terrible idea, thinking it would poison the settlement. When asked why she hates humans, she answers that it's because they kicked them out all those years ago, then asks Micah why he defends the humans. He replies it is because he is half human. Kuruna asks for proof, Micah reveals to her his human form He says that the humans have accepted him for who he is and they want to reconcile and asks if they can, why can't she? Kuruna immediately decides that Micah is a disgrace and poisonous to the settlement and insists on kicking him out.

Dismayed, Micah returns to talk to Ondorus and asks if there might be something they could do that would convince Kuruna that the people of the town were not bad people. After a while, he heads home to mull it over. Shara comes to visit and learns that it didn't go over as well as they'd hoped, but Micah insists he's not going to give up. Shara suggests flowers and Micah decides he'll grow flowers himself. So Shara gives him seeds, and he takes the time to grow each and every one. While they're growing, Shara suggests making a bouquet, and to make it extra pretty, she mentions obtaining both a brooch and a ribbon. Micah, having gotten to know everyone quite well in his time in the village, knows just who to ask. From Evelyn, he receives a ribbon. And after speaking to Gaius, he gathers the materials for a nice brooch, which the dwarf forges. When all the materials are finally gathered, and Micah has all the flowers he'd grown, Shara makes a beautiful bouquet.

When Micah presents it to Kuruna, she believes it to be a bribe. Micah tells her everyone collaborated to make it, and that the settlement meant a lot to the villagers as well. Kuruna gives in reluctantly, saying that they'd treated her people poorly, but she wonders if it's time to open her mind and heart to the humans. She asks if Micah has thought of a date for the festival, Micah is surprised that she's reconsidered, but she says she hasn't forgiven anyone, and she only didn't want to hold things up with her stubbornness. He's quick to work out a date that works for everyone, and when he tells Kuruna, she insists he will be his personal escort.

When the day of the Unity Festival Finally comes, Micah meets Kuruna outside his house. He takes her to meet everyone in the village, despite her reservations about what she'd said about humans. Everyone gathers, and there's speeches all around, and then Micah takes her to meet everyone individually. At the end of the festival, Micah notices the tree has gotten bigger.

Several days later, Micah is confronted by Wells and Majorie, the town witch, and congratulate him about the success of the festival. He's then confronted about marrying one of the girls in the village and offered some help. They give him the instructions to craft an engagement ring and how proposing works in the world, down to the ring and taking a girl on a date to a scenic place to propose. And of course, not to forget the ring when he goes to propose.

Life goes on, Micah grows close to one of the girls. (The default is Shara, however there are eight other prospective wives for the player to choose from.) He eventually chooses to propose. After proposing, Micah discovers his fiancée disappeared on the day of the wedding. It turns out she went to the ruins on the lake. After opening up the ruins, Micah faces the challenges the ruins give, and eventually he faces Aquaticus, the Elemental dragon of water. After defeating him, Aquatacus tells him that he was being used to keep the land from dying and that the Sharance tree is what keeps the land alive. He is offered a truce: get back all his memories of his past life and return to his homeland. Micah refuses and declares he won't leave the woman he loves, and that Sharance is his home now. Then he is happily married to the girl of his choice. Then, the tree blossoms, and the couple go on to have three kids.

Character

Name: Naoki Kashima
Fandom: Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Time Period: Post the neutral/human ending
Wing Color: Light grey
History: Here! and he w-will be retaining his memories from his previous stay in Luceti >.> albeit they will return slowly and may be spotty, especially in the case of events or people he knows less.
Personality: Naoki is an intrinsically good person. He doesn’t hesitate to lend help if someone needs it, offer sympathy or kindness, and tries to look out for whom he grows fond of. He doesn’t often think badly of others unless they harm him or harm people close to him (emotionally or physically), and has a certain perception and sense about when it’s appropriate to press someone about something and when to let something be. He tries to be the person who’s there for others if they should need him and even if they don’t. He ends up being the kind of person who often ignores their needs in favour of the needs of others, whether at detriment to himself or not.

In the beginning of his canon, we are presented with a well-intentioned young man (if a little too willing to act on behalf of others or trust) whose personality is undoubtedly affected by the events of the Conception. If the world ending in order to enter into a stage prior to recreation wasn’t enough, for most of it Naoki ended up being alone. When he wasn’t alone, he ended up being manipulated or even have been left behind by his friends and forced to watch as those around him died at either his own hands (as in the case of his friends) or the hands of others. Needless to say, this has stuck with him. Even after he had restored the world to how it was supposed to be and his friends have returned to life, it doesn’t erase what has happened. This had left him with a paired guilt and trust complex a mile long and a handful of confused emotions and opinions on the people left behind in his world.

Though he’s unhesitating to offer empathy or help, he’s very hesitant to open up completely to others, whether it be on his origins, the events in his world, or otherwise. He bottles up his displeased or frustrated feelings, his inner thoughts and emotions, not liking them to rise to the surface. It isn’t to say he’s completely distrustful of people as a rule, but he has been changed by the events of the Conception. He also has a tendency to think or mull over things too much on his own, which is not particularly healthy, as he never comes to a true conclusion on everything.

Most of those whom he knew were using him or turned against him and even if everything turned out fine in the end, Naoki is not quick to forget this. He is also used to being the one pursuing or protecting others and to have someone protecting or looking out for him is a strange concept. Speaking of protecting, it is one of the most important things to him. After protecting and failing to protect those whom he cared for in the Vortex World, he can develop worry for friends and hates not being able to help them.

Oftentimes having kindnesses like he himself offers or friendship extended to him in return is bewildering after his extended time around demons, friends-turned-enemies and even because his two best friends in question had never been the most forthcoming with friendly affection or warmth prior to the Conception.

There are parts of him that retains that naïvety he had initially in the Vortex World. Isamu even mentioned he was too gullible and perhaps he still is, in certain respects. He can be fooled without too much difficulty, though he’s more attentive to situations in which strike a familiar chord (in relation to where he came from). The thought or implication he’s being used in ways, though, will goad him to indignation or anger easiest. Mostly it’s due to his own insecurities that he harbours; though he did what he set out to do in the Vortex World, it was still along a path he wouldn’t want to tread again, if he can help it.

When he’s comfortable around someone—even if not trusting them entirely—he’s prone to acting like the teenage boy he was forced out of being in the Vortex World for that time before the world was restored. He enjoys chatting in a casual way, joking around with friends or else just hanging out, soaking in the presence of others.

Now, this isn’t to say that he can’t have his moments of irritability or stubbornness. Irritability on his part can manifest in exasperation, or simply frustration, though these are few and far in between—he doesn’t like to show them.

As to his stubbornness— When it comes to what he feels is right, he’s very staunch in his viewpoints. He wouldn’t support the Reasons of his friends, the ideals they had come up with in pursuit of the world that they wanted to make, though didn’t force this on them. Even if he just couldn’t understand why they’d want a world of solitude or a world that revolved around the most powerful surviving to rule the others. He has his morals and his own personal justices and follows through with them. In the end, after all, he sought freedom and conquered his own fears, even continued on after he had killed his friends with his own hands, driven by the desire to put things back to what he thought was right, to bring those who died back in turn.

Naoki Kashima | Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne | Reserved | 2/3?

[personal profile] ex_restoring6 2012-03-01 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Strengths:
(Physical) He’s strong, especially physically. His demonic powers are after waning what with his putting the world back to normal (resulting in him losing his markings and horn), but he’s still more powerful than your average human. He still has his elemental skills, as well, though weaker than they were when he was still traversing the Vortex World.

(Emotional) His care and emotions and the amount of empathy Naoki possesses for other people is very high. He extends a lot of sympathy to others, eager to help them with their own emotions. He is more or less a contented person, trying to keep up his own spirits as well as the spirits of others.

(Mental) He’s more perceptive than you may think at first glance. He had to gauge the behaviour of demons in order to try and sway them to his side. Humans have their own recognisable habits in certain respects, and he’s good at seeing those and in picking up on small details. He is also tactful, knowing when to ask something or say something in a lot of cases. He isn’t stupid and has the sense to think things through in concern to others, especially. He can also be rather unflappable when hearing about things—the Vortex World was quite the experience in itself, after all.

Weaknesses:
(Physical) In no longer making use of the magatama he used to ingest, he’s lost the specialised weaknesses or strengths they used to lend him, an immunity or nullification against elemental skills. He’s more susceptible to injury than he used to be what with him being a squishy human again. And though his healing rate is still slightly faster than the average person, it’s not where it used to be.

(Emotional) Naoki lets his emotions lead his actions, more often than not. He acts on them in case of others in trouble, or goes on his gut if it comes down to making a quick decision. Some could call him rash in that case, especially in the case of a friend. He’s also rather insecure in himself and tends to bottle things up. Meaning most/all of his negative feelings. He also tends to downplay how he’s feeling if another person expresses concern.

(Mental) He can be gullible, susceptible to getting flustered if he’s teased by others. He can be tricked in simple matters, though he’s more attuned to things that remind him of the Vortex World. He is capable of being manipulated, however, as he tries not to believe that each person has an ulterior motive or is doing something bad. He’s also bad of thinking of himself—especially when he probably should. (Matters of self-preservation, orz.)

Character

Name: Drusilla
Fandom: BTVS
Gender: Female
Age: b. 1840; is physically 20 years old, though she has lived over 100 as a vampire.
Time Period: Just after BTVS E2S10, "What's My Line Pt. 2" -- after Dru has freed Spike from the rubble and is carrying him out.
Wing Color: Black with white tips, like the most evil French manicure ever.
History: Drusilla's history here

Personality:

Insane: Angel did not just turn Drusilla into a vampire; he also made it his mission to break her mentally and emotionally. She was tortured into insanity before he sired her; Angel forced her to watch him kill off her family and a convent of nuns one by one.

Her insanity manifests in her body language to a great extent. Drusilla alternately moves about like a small, innocent child -- cradling a doll, or caring for a dead pet bird -- cocking her head to the side inquisitively, or pouting. She can turn instantaneously into an insatiable animal in her behaviors, weaving like a cobra or snarling like a dog.

This is especially seen when she kills Kendra in Becoming Part II: she lures the slayer into a trance with her snakelike movements, fascinating Kendra before slicing her throat with her fingernails.

Body language cues for insanity also include waving, ethereal, and quite graceful movements of her head, neck, arms, hands, and fingers. She can sway as beautifully as a tree in the wind, eyes closed, head thrown back in a kind of inner ecstasy that only she understands. But Dru also can have a purposeful strut and cadence to her walk, and can use her hands in a puppetlike manner -- playful and macabre. When she is upset she moans, with eyes wide and unblinking and shuddering hands.

Primarily, though, Drusilla's insanity shines through in her macabre language and manner of speaking. While she sometimes speaks lucidly to Spike (it has been noted in the BTVS wiki that it is to Spike alone that this more direct way of speaking occurs), for the most part her language is a mixture of horrors and corrupted innocence. Sing-song cadences, whispering, animal-like noises when she is agitated (whimpers, growls, snarls), and childish pouting are some of the tones her voice takes. Every word is that of a twisted child, packed with violence, lust, and odd infantile imagery. Her language reveals that she sees the world through a dark, warped mirror.

For example, in What's My Line (s2e11) she reminisces fondly about the worms in her baguette. She might call Angel "Naughty daddy!" (What's My Line). In this episode she is referred to as a "murderous child."

Ultimately, Dru's insanity twists her into a vicious monster. She enjoys torture, as in "What's My Line" when she tortures Angel with holy water. While burning him with the water, she whispers to him of his crimes against her before he sired her. I don't believe she does this because she holds a grudge about that time, necessarily. I think she's been twisted beyond caring about her murdered family. Perhaps a kind of anger about his torment of her lurks somewhere far below all the other insane layers, but here, primarily, it was a delicious psychological torture for the souled-and-sensitive Angel: his masterpiece biting back.

Stickler for Vampire Traditions: In ATS "Reunion" (S2), Angel refers to Drusilla as a "classicist," and insists that she has a high regard for performing the ceremony of raising Darla in accordance to tradition: that is, she wants to bury the other woman and celebrate her vampirism as a "rebirth." This is perhaps a twist on Dru's piety and careful adherence to Catholic traditions before she was turned. Therefore, should Drusilla attempt to turn anyone into a vampire (with player permission of course), it will be done in the most proper way possible, with a full burial and a grave.

Family Matters: Drusilla, as I mention in the Strengths/Weaknesses section of this app, is always at her strongest as part of a group. Her "family" for many years are Spike, Angel, and Darla, and in ATS she is shown to be quite motivated to reunite that family. This of course is ironic, considering it was Darla and Angel who plotted to kill off her real family in the first place. In Luceti, Dru will probably gravitate toward characters who can provide that "family" unit that she thrives on.

Sexual Appetite/Torturer: We know that before she was turned, Dru was the picture of sexual innocence and purity. Angel's goal was to completely corrupt her into "his masterpiece," and that is what he did, turning that innocence into depravity. His last act of torture was to have sex with Darla in front of the traumatized Drusilla.

This seems to have had a large impact on her personality as a vampire. She is sexually promiscuous and is not above sleeping around. In fact, at one point she has sex with Angel behind Spike's back; later, after she and Spike flee to South America, she has an affair with a chaos demon.

She has been described in the wiki as relatively affectionate for a vampire and is very touchy-feely. This can be seen in nearly any scene with her longtime lover, Spike: the two are usually all over each other with kisses and caresses in Season 2 of BTVS. Dru exhibits this behavior to her victims as well as loved ones, as seen in the Angel torture-scene, where she caresses him as she burns him.

Dru also uses psychological torture to get to Giles, causing him to see her as Jenny Calendar and thus reveal the secret of how to continue with the ritual of Acathla in "Becoming." Therefore, her insanity does not have a bearing on her intelligence. She tortured him with a vision of his lost love and got the information Angelus needed to end the world.

Drusilla is famous for preying on the most innocent and weak. She is fond of killing children. This will honestly be the most difficult part of the character for me and I have no intention of having her kill or harm any children in Luceti. I'm not willing to go that far with the character.

Eusine | Pokémon Special | Reserved

[personal profile] baelheit 2012-03-01 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

The first thing people tend to see upon meeting Eusine is the fact he is a huge tool.
...
Fine, that's actually the SECOND thing they see, after his gaudy fabulous outfit. The point still stands: from how he dresses to his eccentric behavior, Eusine is sure to make any normal person question his sanity. Or at the very least want to punch him in the face. Both are viable options.
Eusine is, by all definitions, a huge show-off and loves being the center of attention. The reason is quite simple: he's a magician, and the entire world is his stage! Add to that his very big ego, and you get someone... rather unforgettable, to say the least. His clothes come in flashy shades of blue/purple, red and white, and are exacerbated by his equality flashy body language. He often waves his arms around while he speaks for emphasis; and emphasise things he does, because he definitely likes hearing the sound of his own voice. It's very hard to shut him up: basically, the only time he stops spewing words is when he gets very serious.
Spoilers: this doesn't happen often.
But that is, of course, assuming Eusine even cares about being appropriate. Making exaggerated poses while spouting purple-prosey nonsense about the wind? Jumping off things in a really dramatic fashion? Being the largest ham this side of Mount Silver? Why, he's the Mysticalman! That's what he does! That's his thing! He sees absolutely nothing wrong with that, and if it means bullshitting his way into not having to assume his mistakes? Well, that's too bad for the person he slighted.
It's not that he's completely unable to recognize when he's wrong, of course. ... You just need really damning evidence to make him admit that maybe he was being a jerk. And even then, that's not counting his tendency to change the subject: yes, he was being uncool, but look at this bad thing YOU did.
That is because, ladies and gentlemen, Eusine is a master of denial. Not only has he mastered the ability to block out every reality that doesn't suit him, but his denial is so deeply rooted he even manages to believe his own lies. He doesn't even realize he's doing it; it's simply a mix of his insufferable sense of self-worth and his complete inability to mope for more than five seconds. And don't you ever dare suggest Suicune won't come back for him, or (gasp) that his Suicune art sucks, because that would make you a dirty liar who lies.
Eusine does so love Suicune.
And when Eusine loves something, he doesn't do things in halves. In fact, a good chunk of his actions find their source in his quasi-religious admiration for Suicune, from his constant travelling to the things he wears. His lifelong dream is to earn Suicune's respect; though he might rant about how he'll totally be the one to "catch" it, he's really all about the thrill of the chase. For someone so unconventional, he awfully seems in need of approval, always thriving to impress the ~Pokémon of his dreams~. Maybe he has issues. Maybe it's Maybelline because he is a highly contradictory being.
... Though wait, he's running after a blue dog. He DEFINITELY has issues. The second theory, however, is still accurate. "What!", you say. "This sounds like a terrible excuse to do whatever the *expletive deleted* you want in a horrible characterization-jumping-all-over-the-place way!" And nay, I reply! Because for all his blatant cheating and lying, Eusine does have a sense of fair-play. He even goes as far as letting the Team Rocket grunts he was pursuing recover from a devastating spore attack before engaging them in battle. Of course, part of it probably has to do with the fact he acts as if his life were a grand show: after all, how boring would it be if he just called the police to arrest the villains? No, that won't do. Still, this doesn't change the fact that for someone so obsessed with his Suicune hunt he actually welcomes competition. Not any kind of competition, mind you. Talentless hacks such as Team Rocket will be quickly dismissed. But if someone promising shows up? The game is on.
Similarly, he has an unexpectedly heroic sense of priorities. He's self-centered and more than a little vain, but he can and will be self-sacrificing if the situation demands it. His deciding to stop the Rocket grunts and let Crys go after Suicune is the most shining example. Spend ten years of your life looking for a Pokémon? Throw everything away in five seconds in order to let someone else safely reach said Pokémon. Regret nothing.
... Which doesn't mean he won't brag about being ~so heroic~ once everything is over, of course. If you listened to him, you'd almost believe he's the dashing protagonist of some romance adventure novel. Silly, isn't it?
But that's okay.
Eusine is a very silly person.

Samurai Goroh | F-ZERO | Not Reserved!?

[personal profile] avaricious 2012-03-01 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: Samurai Goroh
Fandom: F-Zero: Falcon no Densetsu
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Time Period: After Episode 13 (11 in the dub)
Wing Color: Hot pink, with orange 'flames' on the tips (Like the Fire Stingray)
History:

Goroh's history in the GP Legend isn't well known. What is known is that he's earned a name as being a legendary space pirate and thief, infamous enough to be well known but elusive enough that his face wasn't known even to the authorities. By the time we meet him in the series, he's married to fellow thief, Lisa Brilliant, though the two of them are more prone to working separately and often go their separate ways, despite usually being around to bail the other out. In the four episode, a small time thug named Bibilan decides to capitalize on Goroh's infamy and starts posing as him after stealing a supply of medical supplies. When Ryu Suzaku, a member of the Elite Mobile Task Force (a type of police force heavily involved in the F-ZERO races) came looking for the infamous samurai, he met up with the real Goroh, who had already been making his own plans to track down the impostor. Deciding the kid might be useful, he teams up with Suzaku and the two track down the impostor. In the ensuing battle, he is revealed to be the real Samurai Goroh. He also takes off with all the stolen loot and leaves Ryu Suzaku tied up in the middle of the desert with temporary restraints. However he proves that, despite being an outlaw, he is still noble enough to leave behind the medicine that Ryu Suzaku was looking for, enabling the ex-cop to save the sick children that caused him to go to all the trouble to begin with.

In the following episode, his wife manages to get into all sorts of trouble when she crosses paths with Zack Levin, one of the members of the Elite Mobile Task Force and steals his F-Zero machine. Although he and Ryu manage to corner her duing the next race, Samurai Goroh shows up to bail her out of trouble and provide her with a handy escape. In episode 13, he and his gang return when they hijack a cargo ship operated by the criminal organization, Dark Million. He and his gang are planning to operate a clean operation, but his longtime friend (and brother-in-law) Antonio Guster had different plans. As they took care of the guards and loaded up all the gold, Guster set the cargo ship up to explode, killing the lives of those on board. Although furious with Guster, he did little more than snap at him. Despite Guster's flaws, Goroh still trusted his long time friend and partner, even when Lisa showed up to warn him that Guster wasn't to be trusted. Her fears were confirmed when Zoda was able to convince Guster to turn on his own friend. In the next race, Guster attempted to kill Goroh in the race, but thanks to some help from Ryu Suzaku, they were able to pin Antonio down. In the ensuing confrontation, Antonio attempted to use one of his explosives to take Goroh down, but the samurai easily sliced through it and rendered the explosive inert. Although he had Guster at his mercy, his old partner declared he wasn't afraid of the samurai, knowing that he disliked killing. Reluctantly, Goroh parted ways with him. Although Ryu Suzaku proceeded to try and bring Goroh back at that point, Lisa Brilliant showed up in a ship overhead just in time to haul in her husband and help him avoid unwanted complications with the authorities.

Personality:

The outward appearance of Samurai Goroh is a man of loose morals and no honor, despite his self-given title. This is a natural consequence of being from two hundred years in the future where the term 'samurai' no longer has much meaning. However, his name is likely an alias or moniker that was earned from his incredible skill with the blade and not because of any adherance to some sort of samurai lifestyle. In spite of his criminal behavior, Goroh's moral compass tends to not too stray too far into evil territory to the point his motto is "Steal, but never kill." He demonstrates this twice, first in how he spares Ryu Suzaku after the two teamed up, even though it would likely cause him less trouble to just off him. Likewise, he is furious when Antonio Guster destroys an entire cargo ship they had previously raided. While destruction would be typical behavior for a group of space pirates, it's something he absolutely won't tolerate himself. He naturally expects all of his subordinates to do the same.

Aside from Guster, Goroh's methods work and not only is he infamous throughout the galaxy, but he has the respect of his bandits, who later follow him into the most dangerous situations without hesitation. They even refer to him as 'Master Goroh' when speaking to him. Despite his gruff attitude, he's a natural leader with a cool headed attitude. He's shown smirking in satisfaction and just a bit of pride whenever he sees his subordinates performing well on the job. In general, he prefers to stand back and let them handle the work. Not that he is reluctant to get his hands dirty, but because he's genuinely proud of the capability of his people and likes to see them at their best. He only gets involved if they run into trouble that's beyond them, at which point his tremendous skill with the sword comes into play.

However, he's still a thief and a level of dishonesty comes with it. He's contantly plotting and rarely shows what his real plans are, save for those who are in on it. When an impostor takes his place, he has one of his subordinates pose as an innocent girl trying to reclaim her stolen property, making herself look like easy bait for Bibilan's henchmen. Likewise, he also befriends Ryu Suzaku, not revealing his true identity and uses him to achieve his own ends. When Ryu angrily berates him for tricking him in a later episode, Goroh remarks that it was his mistake for being so trusting. He's a thief through and through and he won't hesitate to take what he wants or lie to those he needs to.

On the rocky planet he lives on, Samurai Goroh's personal home (and base of operations for his gang) is a quaint Japanese-style home where he can be found making his own tea (thought it's pretty intense) from natural components and a garden outside it, suggesting a deeper, different side of Goroh than what most see. However, it also serves as a front with a secret entrance beneath the floor panel, leading to the secret hiding place for his own spaceship. Given that the entire town he lives in is used to hide the ship, it can be surmised that he has the loyalty of the entire town as well, possibly being something of a leader to them as well and that they are under his protection.

Ultimately, his crew is like his family and he's incredibly loyal to them. Eventually that same sense of loyalty is extended to Ryu as well. Although at his current canon point this connections is more tenuous, he later risks the lives of himself and his crew to protect Haruka when they find her. Despite being severely outclassed by the overpowered Zoda, Goroh goes blow to blow with him, even staggering after him for a second round after being nearly fried by an energy attack. It's only thanks to the arrival of Ryu and backup from his wife that he even survives the encounter.

But he's not all serious and grim. Goroh has a lighter side to him and does different things to amuse himself. When he first meets Ryu, he casually tosses a banana peel in his path, moments after Ryu walked into the tavern taking down people like a badass. He's consistently seen being amused by the antics going on around him, even if he's not always involved in them himself. What he does like is getting reactions out of people, as a way of judging their character. He will intentionally mislead people and try to get under their skin just to see what sort of person they are. And because, well, it's good fun too.

Strengths:

Physical: In a battle, Goroh can appear to be a very intimidating fighter. Despite his husky build, he is very muscular and more than capable of putting a few dents in a person's head with his fists. What makes him deadlier is the fact that even with all that muscle, he is very agile and has demonstrated the ability to do consecutive backflips and perform complex maneuvers with his sword. In the anime, his skill with the blade is amazing enough to cut a missile in half, later he does the same thing to a space ship. Not only that, but his precision with the blade is such that he can slice off the clothes of his foes with a few quick strokes without drawing a drop of blood. Being an F-Zero racer also means that not only is he an excellent driver, but he also has very keen reflexes and can react unflinchingly in what was once a sport with a high mortality rate. He's also a very skilled thief, although his gang tends to operate more like bandits or space pirates, depending on where they are operating.

Mental: Although for the most part Goroh seems like a simple thug, his boisterous attitude actually hides a fairly keen mind. He's a very skilled manipulator, as seen when he manipulates Ryu into teaming up with him to capture someone else posing as Samurai Goroh, only to double cross his temporary ally at the end. As an F-Zero pilot, he's required to be fairly knowledgable about how his own machines work, so he's a capable mechanic, though he's no inventor. However, given he hails from the farflung future, he's required to know more about mechanics and technology than what currently exists today. Furthermore, he has the qualities a leader needs to be able to lead a gang of thieves.

Emotional: For the most part, Goroh is pretty in control of himself. His marriage to his wife is unusual, but one with respect. In spite of being little more than a thug, he has a strict code on not taking lives, unless absolutely necessary. In solitude, he is known to meditate, revealing himself to actually live up to his 'samurai' title in some aspects of his own life. Although prone to betraying temporary allies, he's a steadfast and loyal ally once someone has earned his respect and proved themself worthy of his help.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Although a competent fighter, Goroh is only a human and if bested in a battle, he's not going to be pulling out any kind of healing factor to recover from his wounds. Beyond that, his reliance on such a dated weapon can sometimes put him at a disadvantage to those who rely on guns. For as skilled as he is with a blade, his true potential is held back due to his reluctance to kill. Every swing of his sword is done carefully to avoid killing his opponent. Without that restraint, he'd be far more dangerous.

Mental: Although competent in many respects, Goroh is hardly any genius. He might be able to fix some mechanical parts on his ship, but he certainly couldn't build one or tell you why or how it works. His knowledge is more the 'street smarts' kind and is of the sort gained from a life as a rogue, even if he is highly successful at what he does. But there's not much that be said for him academically. Ask him about the history of his world and he might be able to cobble five historic figures from memory, but have no idea who they are or what they did.

Emotional: For being a space pirate, being unwilling to kill can cause him as much harm as good. He holds himself in back in battle, so he doesn't kill his foes. He also won't kill someone who wants him dead, best seen when he parts ways with Antonio Guster. The man still wants him dead (and he tries to poison Goroh in the tie-in video game), but Goroh still won't just off the man. His stubborn loyalty also endangers himself and his crew when they decide to protect Haruka from Zoda and his forces. Certainly a space pirate would be better off just leaving well enough alone. In spite of being an outlaw, Goroh's noble streak keeps him from being as dangerous a threat as he could be.

Samples

First Person:

Didn't think I'd ever see this dump again. Hell, I was hoping I wouldn't see it again. Looks like the place hasn't changed much. And damn, isn't it just the luck I'd come back in the winter? My feet are going to freeze off at this rate. Give me Clyton weather any day. At least it never snows there.

One other thing. Seems my memory of this place is pretty vague. It's been a few weeks since I was here before, but this whole place was like one screwed up dream. I was living with some other people before. Some breasty woman, a dead guy, a teenage girl, and a cat. At least I think it was a cat. Damn, it sounds even crazier saying it out loud, doesn't it?

Third Person:

Two weeks ago, Samurai Goroh had returned to Luceti in one of his least graceful of landings, right smack onto a pair of wings he hadn't previously possessed. Though they were better now, they still seemed to ache whenever he threw his dusty leather vest over them. Of all the things that pissed him off about this place more, it was the damn wings. He didn't really mind the color, really. Everyone knew that hot pink was the color of manly men, but simply having the wings themselves was bad for his image. He certainly hadn't quit doing his usual routine of intense working out, so the laughably small wings stood in stark contrast to his heavily muscular and stocky build. It was like a poor joke had been made on his account.

Malnosso or not, he still half suspected Zoda or Bibilan of being behind it. Or maybe Antonio Guster. While Guster may have been a complete bastard, he did have his limits. Dumping Goroh in some god knows where backwater planet would be extreme for even him. But Bibilan? Oh, that fraud would find that to be just desserts. After the humiliation that Bibilan went through, it certainly would make sense for him to try it. It hardly stopped the samurai from making plans to pay back his the samurai poser in kind. Nobody crossed Samurai Goroh. It was practically his mantra. Or one of them, anyway. Certainly among his less kinder life sayings.

For now, he was stuck in this dump until he found a way out. With everything free, he found his usual ways of keeping himself busy otherwise unavailable. Without want of anything, pirating was pointless. Sure, the battle dome was helping him improve his F-Zero game, but simulations were never as good as the real thing. The pilots lacked that human instinct to be utterly devious and ruthless on the track. There was no satisfaction without the struggle. He could take down all his rivals a hundred times and it wouldn't mean anything in there. Smugly declaring his victory to a fake opponent just felt sad and pathetic. He couldn't even take it seriously in the post-race.

Which left him staring at the back of his journal, skimming the introduction of the so-called RP Manager. Goroh was a lot of things, the benefit of being the criminal version of an everyman. These missions sounded up his alley, for the most part. The pay was absolutely shit, but it was mercenary work. And besides that, he might be able to use it to find a way off this rock. He just hoped to hell these people had managed something beyond simple interstellar travel. He couldn't imagine anything worse than being stranded on a primitive planet that hadn't even managed to get past its own moon.

Personality

[personal profile] magiartes 2012-03-01 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Milla conducts herself as a god would be expected to do. She speaks with strength and conviction, treating those who she cares for with kindness and wisdom, and bringing a searing indignation to those who earn her ire. She does not belittle those around her, but she does speak down to them as naturally as a king addressing his subjects.

For Milla, the concepts of responsibility and duty are central. She despises those who shirk responsibility, especially those who do so for selfish or cowardly reasons. Her main duty as the Lord of Spirits is to protect the lives of every human and Spirit in the world, a weighty responsibility she takes on without hesitation or gratification. Milla is a very militant person who analyses situations in terms of objectives and battle, and will often make decisions based on long-term consequences and stone-cold logic. Though she can appear ruthless, she sees this attitude as the optimal way to protect the world and, in a roundabout way, show her kindness. Indeed, a critical aspect of Milla's character is that the root cause of her desire to protect others is not her responsibilities as Maxwell, but her altruistic and kind soul.

Milla regards humans as lesser beings who have yet to realise her ancient and enlightened judgement. However, she does not dislike humanity; rather, she finds human culture fascinating and genuinely cares for them in a detached manner. The best analogy is that of a master and pet. Her main source of indignation is humanity's tendency to abuse power at the expense of others, a vice that she believes is too intrinsic to their nature to overcome.

Milla is not familiar with having a normal human body, having previously had all of her usual human necessities (such as the need to eat or drink) provided by the four Greater Spirits. Rather than feel inconvenienced, she is instead filled with childish wonderment when experiencing the peculiarities of a mortal body. For example, when she gets hiccups or becomes sick, she is giddily amused at losing control of her body in such unfamiliar ways. Milla loves food and drink of every variety, having recently discovered the joys of eating.

Despite having a clearly female body, Milla has very little gender identity. To Milla, her female attractiveness is (this is actually stated canon) merely a strategic advantage used to lower the guard of male opponents. She can get flustered if pushed on issues of femininity (such as "how a girl should dress") but that has more to do with her lack of knowledge on the subject.

Strengths:
Milla has a strong personality befitting one who bears the name of Maxwell, with a iron will and a great deal of intelligence.

In combat, Milla is one of the most powerful and versatile fighters in the world, bearing equal strength with magic and sword. Her signature ability is "Magi", which allows her to convert her wide-area spells into close-quarters attacks in an instant. This makes her equally-effective as a long-range spellcaster and a frontline combatant. Her "Bind" ability can freeze an opponent in place for as long as she maintains concentration, allowing an ally to attack freely. She also learns a wide variety of potent swordplay attacks.

While Milla has been stripped of most of her former strength due to the severance of her connection to the Greater Spirits, she is a fast learner and a prodigal spellcaster, learning her swordplay techniques through hard work and her elemental spells through instinct.

She also has an awesome ahoge. Just look at it. It's glorious.

Weaknesses:
Having spent her life cloistered in Ni Akeria and focused on her divine duties, Milla has little first-hand experience with modern human culture. Her prior knowledge is based solely on what she has read in books, meaning that she is prone to misinterpretation. Milla's dedication to her mission can also verge on obsession and self-sacrifice, pushing herself to harmful extremes in pursuit of her "duties".

Without the Greater Spirits, Milla has been left without many of the basic skills that were previously provided to her, and while she is a fast learner her unfamiliarity with a mortal body can cause awkwardness or outright problems.

As a fighter, Milla is overwhelmingly powerful when fully developed, but possesses no healing spells or abilities. Her HP is also relatively low for a frontline fighter, making her more offensive than defensive.

Zelos | Personality

[personal profile] 0xymoronic 2012-03-01 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Zelos has a wonderfully complex personality.

Initially easy to view as the comic relief character of the group, Zelos is just a bundle of issues in need of some therapy.

That's not to say he is unstable or anything. All things considered Zelos is fairly well-adjusted. But in a world without therapy or even a basic understanding of childhood trauma, Zelos has a few deep-seated issues under his cheerful, womanizing mask.

Zelos is a ladies man, able to say the right things and do the right things to charm any woman. Well, almost any woman. There are a few notable exceptions to his charm, and unsurprisingly enough those are the woman he is closets too. It's not just his smooth and fast talking that gets the girls. Zelos is rather handsome, if he may say so himself. Coming of as a narcissistic jerk some of the time, Zelos does highly prize his looks. Not without cause mind you. Probably stems from some serious neglect issues in his past, but he is also genuinely vain. After all if you fuss enough without meaning it, eventually you can come to mean it.

Underneath his childish, narcissistic and vaguely perverted exterior lies a troubled, sensitive, and very perceptive man. However he also sublimates any worries or insecurities he has, hiding them beneath a cheerful mask and using perverted comments and actions to redirect attention away from his inner thoughts and more towards his outer actions. Strangely enough this makes him similar to Colette, though obviously not completely, because Colette isn't perverted as far as we know.

An important part of his personality is his reactions to half-elves. Like most people in Tethe'alla Zelos grew up with prejudice against half-elves the norm. Unlike other Tethe'allan nobles, however Zelos was sympathetic to their plight. He used his considerable power as the Chosen to stop some anti-half-elf laws from being passed despite having a personal bad history with a half-elf on top of the typical prejudice view that half-elves are unclean creatures. As Zelos travels with Lloyd's group and interacts with Raine and Genis his prejudices are softened, though, like any long standing prejudice they aren’t easily overthrown.

Helping the half-elves and the poor are the only good things he thinks have come out his power as the chosen.

Zelos family life is the keystone of his issues. Ignored by his father, and neglected by his mother, Mylene, his closest caretaker was the family butler Sebastian. But Sebastian was first and foremost the butler and there are certain things he couldn't do for Zelos, such as reprimand him if he misbehaved, or protect him from his parents neglect. Because the Wilder family was his employer, and there are certain boundaries the help cannot cross if they wish to stay employed.

His father had a mistress who gave birth to Seles. As children they were allowed to play together and were close. For Zelos this was probably because here was finally someone, a family member, who cared about him and wanted to be around him. Seles was also someone he could protect and be himself around, a breath of fresh air in a stifling home. But things were not to last. Zelos father died while he was young, making Zelos the new Chosen. Seles's mother, wanting a better life for her child then attempted to kill Zelos so that Seles could become the chosen. However her assassination attempt failed, and instead Mylene died that snowy day. Unfortunately that final act condemned not only Seles's mother to die for the crime, but Zelos to a life haunted by his mother's last and spiteful words that he should never have been born. Such strong and painful words warped Zelos's psyche. Speculatively this could explain his attitude with woman, never showing a serious face or a serious interest in a deeper relationship.

This final act also destroyed Zelos and Seles's familial relationship, as Seles was banished to an abbey for life. This left the young, newly appointed Chosen Zelos alone in a large empty mansion, with only his butler for a not-quite-parent, new heavy responsibilities, and the nobles of Meltokio just waiting to see him how useful he was, so they could use his power for themselves.

This environment, coupled with harsh memory brewed a deep self-loathing, for himself as a person, and his unwanted title. Like any child he drew all these events that had happened beyond his power and took the guilt all for himself. It was his fault his mother died, and the chosen-system fault for forcing her to be unhappy with a husband she didn't love and a child she never wanted. This hate for the Chosen system is the only half-positive sign, showing that he didn't take all the blame and guilt on himself, and was able to blame some outside influence. Unfortunately he was a big part of the system and so guilt still tarnished him.

The pressure of the chosen responsibilities, most likely difficult for a child to comprehend fully, nurtured a feeling that he was worthless. Probably because he didn't understand all that it entailed and whoever was teaching him didn't set any of his fears to rest. As any child would, especially after such trauma, he came to a have a firm belief that Seles would have made a far better chosen than himself. Seeing as she was younger, this isn't likely. But a child is rarely rational, and Zelos emotional wounds were still fresh. All these things gave Zelos a very low feeling of self-worth.

As for the noble society he now had to have many, daily interactions with, a worst situation couldn't have been possible. In the cutting world of noble politics, Zelos was the prime rib of political allies, second only in power and influence to the King himself, especially as head of the state religion, above even the pope. Luckily, since the chosen system uses arranged marriages, he was not active husband material, but, as the previous chosen's affair proved, you could quite possibly hope for a little something that could give you quite a power boost. This acidic environment forced Zelos to lock away his true emotions and instead project the image of a strong, confident, but superficial Chosen, an amusement, a possible ally, but never a threat.

Zelos's teenaged years brought forth a new dimension of noble politics. Suddenly he was very popular among the Meltokio noblewoman, both young and old. However it was just new step in an old dance, as power and not friendship is why they sought him out. So Zelos took advantage of this interest both in court and at the Imperial Research Academy where he studied, using his female classmates to take notes ad tests for him. This allowed Zelos to graduate the top of his class, even though his main talent was in mathematics.

It is quite possible that the only true friendship Zelos developed in his formative years was with Sheena, though it was probably quite antagonistic at times before calming into the still dysfunctional but more stable relationship they display in game. Though they are loathed to admit it out loud, both do care for each other in their own ways; and while hints of romantic feelings are apparent, they both would have a lot of things to work through together before it could even become a healthy or stable relationship.

As time went on Zelos became even more bitter than usual towards his position as Chosen, and generally viewed that his life was as good as it was going to get, which was pretty close to rock bottom as far as he felt. This allowed him to be pulled into Cruxis schemes, as they promised to remove his Chosen status, which he so very hated.

Soon Zelos interactions with Lloyd's group start, after he used his power to help them help Colette by negotiating with the King and Pope. This is probably because he felt a kinship with her as she was also a Chosen. This kinship is what makes Zelos decided to join them and travel to Iselia in violation of the terms of help.

It is traveling with Lloyd's group, surrounded by idealist and optimists, okay, mainly Lloyd and Colette, but still that Zelos starts to come to terms with himself. The tower of Salvation is where we start to see the effect his traveling with the group as ultimately he does not betray them and then commit suicide by traveling companions, though he is certainly gives the group plenty of evidence to doubt him, except for Lloyd.
Lloyd's honest attitude and willingness to see beyond Zelos's title of Chosen, as well as his unwavering trust helped Zelos make up his mind as to which side he wanted to be on and made Lloyd a true and cherished friend to Zelos.

After the game, Zelos works to change the new world, and while he is still womanizing and narcissistic, he has started to deal with his past and the scars it left on him. Besides some habits are simply too fun and too well ingrained to simply drop.

Strengths: Excellent swordsman, able to use magic, good looks, excellent political maneuvering skills, unshakable trust if it is gained by a person, mathematics, easing tense situations, flirting, very charming, perceptive about people, able to mask his true emotions, great memory for faces, quick mind, angelic senses.

Weaknesses: Sublimates emotions until breaking point, vain, mild narcissism, can be immature, a little irresponsible, can be a jerk, hates snow to the point of avoiding it religiously, still has self-loathing issues but is working on them, ability to mask his true emotions even from friends, still some lack of internal self-worth issues, slight remaining prejudices against half-elves, can be too flirty, pervert, abandonment issues.

Original Ion | Personality / Strengths & Weaknesses

[personal profile] telefononhold 2012-03-01 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Ion is a sweet and caring individual who often looks for the best qualities in people. Optimistic but soft-spoken, he tries his best to be as kind and compromising as anything else to people. Despite his rather docile appearance (and sickly as well) he isn't a pushover - rather, he's very much someone who will joke with the people he's comfortable with and state his opinions.

...or so he'd like people to believe. Outwardly, Ion truely is a soft-spoken, docile young boy who has inherited the title of Fon Master too early in his life. He puts on a smiling, calm façade, becoming kind and caring and generally a nice guy (nigh indistinguishable from his seventh replica, which he was counting on) in public, while being rather bitter and resentful on the inside and in private appearances, chiefly with Van. The only true kindness he has to show is towards his guardian, Arietta, and even then it feels more like the way a master treats his dog. It's kindness nonetheless, and even he (in the end, alone and dying) acknowledges that. He shows no mercy to failed replicas and doesn't seem to have a problem with getting his hands dirty - he remarks that blood is hard to clean out of his robes, but nothing else - and while those might not come into play it's something to think about.

He has a reason for being so destructive and resentful, too; when he was a child (likely a few months after he was born), he was found to be the child the Score foretold taking over after Evenos (the Fon Master of the time) died. As such, he was taken away from his parents and, around six or seven, chosen to read the Closed Score, a piece of the Score reserved for Grand Maestro-level people and above. There, he read that he was going to die when he was twelve, and his life shattered before his eyes. He grew angry and bitter at the Score for dictacting it (for forcing him to become the Fon Master and pulling him away from a happy life; for telling him he was going to die; for existing) and, when offered the choice to destroy the world (and the Score with it) by Van, he took it with utmost happiness.

Unfortunately, the Score is a self-fulfilling prophecy, in most cases. You're told what happens and because of that knowledge, you end up doing what was foretold. Ion does indeed die when he's twelve - but only after a year and a half of making replicas and worsening his health with it. With this, he is truly a hypocrite - he berates and looks down upon the public, who beg and scream for their Scores to be read (or their children's Scores, or their wives') and believe them and obsess over them, when he does the same thing in regards to his death. He doesn't seem to be aware of his hypocrisy - he never comments on it, and maybe he wouldn't even if he did - though he routinely looks down on the fact that as he grows weaker and becomes more and more bedridden, he'll become more and more like those "inferior people"; that is, the people of Auldrant.

He just really hates everyone, okay.

Strengths:
Physically: His Daathic fonic artes (powerful spells that use the Seventh Fonon privy to the Fon Master) are pretty powerful. Unfortunately, they're also probably a last resort for him (at this point), and as useful as they'd be he knows it'd be better to be alive or awake than dead or unconscious. Not exactly a physical strength but tying in with Daathic artes none the less, he can break seals as well as make them (Sync is capable of making curse slots, which I have no dobut that the original is able to do as well) and read the Score. Those latters one won't really come in use, though, and don't tire him out quite as much as they do his replica.
Mentally: He's smart. He devises an entire plan to make replicas of himself (with Van's help) and seamlessly switches himself with his replica for the last three months of his life.
Emotionally: He's good at putting on a show? He has a very carefully construct façade that doesn't break easily; he can pretend he likes you as much as you'd like to believe and still not like you in the least bit.

Weaknesses:
Physically: He's terminally ill. Additionally, his body's under a lot of stress due to participating in fomicry research/being replicated seven times. Aside from that, he's been living a comfortable life for most of his life so he hasn't had the need to get muscles or anything. He's pretty weak and he'd probably get tired out easily, as far as strenuous work or fighting goes.
Mentally: Nothing about Ion screams "mentally sound" to be honest. He's an eleven year old with a penchant for not caring about anyone's life nor about whatever consequences his actions or plans might bring, just as long as they end up with the destruction of the Score and (hopefully!) the world with it. That's not to say he's a fan of murder - he really doesn't care for it, but he's also not against it - but he's certainly not below bringing matters into his own hands if he's angered or irritated enough. Or if someone hurts his precious Arietta.
Emotionally: While having a façade is a strength, it is also a weakness. He's not someone you can easily trust and - likewise - he's not quick to trust you. There is rarely any genuine happiness for him, and he's come to not expect it in the slightest. You don't have a whole lot of optimism (despite what you'd like everyone else to think) when you're going to die at age twelve. Aside from that, he's pretty emotionally stupid - crushes, like a normal boy his age? No, he just treats you like a pet if he likes you a whole lot.

Ghost Princess Perona | One Piece - Reserved

[personal profile] thatsnotcute 2012-03-01 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: Perona
Fandom: One Piece
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown in canon, estimating around 17.
Time Period: Directly after Kuma relocated her off Thriller Bark, but before she meets with Zoro. (Manga: Ch. 473, p.15 Anime: ep. 368)
Wing Color: Black on the outside and bubblegum pink on the inside.
History: Right here.
Personality:
The best way to describe Perona herself, as well as her personality would be to quote Zoro. When he entered her room with the others for the first time in Thriller Bark, he made a statement that whoever the room belonged to must be very, very pompous. Perona is pretty much the living embodiment of a pompous, bossy, entitled little brat who always gets what she wants or so help you god she will throw a temper tantrum right in your face. This makes her seem very childish and she acts the part of being overly spoiled, and thus has become greedy and self-centered. In fact, it was Perona and her zombie minions that were the ones who raided the Straw Hat’s ship in search of treasure and other valuable items. When Perona found that they had nothing she liked (money, gold, treasure, etc.) she didn’t say “just leave it”, she insisted that every scrap of food the Straw Hats had be taken for use on Thriller Bark, Moria’s ship. She’s materialistic with a capital M won’t settle for going away empty handed.

Another instance of this greed and materialistic behavior is when Perona tries to flee from Thriller bark, when she sees that sticking around while Luffy and his crew are rampaging is not a wise choice. Instead of just leaving and preserving herself, Perona hauls a huge and heavy sack of valuables with her to escape. She refused to leave Moria empty-handed, despite being incredibly loyal to him for close to ten years (the period of time that she served him). This leads towards another key point in Perona’s nature – she is fickle and contradicts herself often, flip-flopping between being a faithful comrade and protecting herself. Her choices and her loyalties as well can be swayed when necessity dictates, or if her life is in immediate danger. To Perona, self-preservation comes before any and all things, and she will run and leave her comrades behind if it means she can escape in one piece. Even so, she still retains a strong and firm attitude, and doesn’t let others boss her around, not even another Shichibukai.

When Kuma appears before her while she is trying to escape, despite him being multiple times stronger than she is, Perona refuses to tell him where her boss, Moria is on the huge island-like ship. Perona does not let other people boss her around (except perhaps Moria), and bares her teeth when she feels like someone is intruding on her. She shows great disdain towards her comrade and fellow crewmate, Absalom, when he enters her room and tries to order her zombies around. “This is my room” she tells him, and demands he leave immediately. Perona can certainly stand up for herself, and she does quite often. She’s a confident and strong young lady, even if her “strength” usually stems from feeling as if she has been insulted somehow. She will not let people get away wil making fun of her, and will stand up for herself in the blink of an eye. While it should be noted that Perona may not need protection most of the time due to her fierce attitude, she says herself that she only joined Moria’s crew for protection and for fun, showcasing her fickleness once again as well.

It should also be noted that Perona adores “cute” things, though her definition of “cute” can be rather…objective. She likes animals, seeing as how all her zombie slaves are the surgically meshed together parts of different animals. While some are indeed cute and squashy looking in appearance (Bearsy, for instance), some are just plain not cute, yet Perona keeps them around. She also enjoys the macabre and things relating to malice and darkness – perhaps relating to the fact that Perona dresses in the “gothic Lolita” fashion. Mesh together those two things, cute and dark, and Perona would definitely squeal with delight. Anything other than that, what Perona deems to be uncute, she dismisses entirely. If it’s not cute, she shows no interest in it.

Despite this fact, however, Perona can be willed into aiding people in need. Even if they happen to be among her enemies, in the case of Zoro. When she and Zoro are both sent to Mihawk’s island, she tends to Zoro’s wounds and helps him recover. Though there’s no telling of just why Perona’s did what she did, it does show that she is not entirely an evil or bad person, she’s just herself. She does what needs to be done or what her Captain orders her to do. She does have a heart under all that bratty, self-indulgent flack and she does use it from time to time, even if the outcome won’t benefit her in a substantial way. In short, Perona is capable of caring for others outside herself. It’s a rare occurrence, but it is possible. She is a mature and intelligent young lady, even if she does not show it a great of the time and acts the opposite.

Strengths:
Physical: Perona’s physical strength is rather lacking, to be completely honest. As a young human girl, she’s really not anyone to look at twice in terms of muscle strength. However, she compensates this with the use of her own special power. By consuming the Horo Horo no Mi (Hollow Hollow Fruit), Perona has gained the unique ability to create a seemingly unlimited amount of ghosts – hollows – from her body. These spirits cannot be cut or caught by any means, and can also split themselves apart to create more ghosts. Thus far, it has not been explained just how many ghosts Perona can create, though by what has been seen, it seems the range is unlimited, and Perona suffers no damage at all when she does this.

The ghosts she creates are a projection of her spirit, and thus Perona can see and hear what they do, as well as feel what they feel, to some degree. An example of this is when she uses her Negative Hollows (which will be explained later) against Usopp. Those hollows were defeated after losing a battle of negativity against Usopp, hunched over as if grief stricken. A second later, we see Perona in the same hunched over position, a gloomy cloud over her, and apologizing to one of her minions for always being hard on him. Though no other instance of this has occurred, it can be assumed that Perona feels what her hollows feel in terms of emotion.

Now, as I stated earlier, Perona profoundly makes use of her ghosts. There are three variations, but only two of which are used as a means to inflict heavy, serious, physical harm. The two she does use in this sense are the Tiny and Large Hollows. These hollows are the only variation of ghosts Perona can create that explode when activated by a snap of Perona’s fingers (Perona also MUST snap her fingers for each hollow she produces, to activate the explosion). The Tiny Hollow is much smaller and weaker than the larger version (obviously), but still has the power to blow a sizeable and deep hole into solid stone. Perona can create dozens of these hollows, which stick and/or cling to her opponent, and thus explode directly on them.

The large hollow works exactly the same as the tiny hollow, but the shockwave it produces is far greater than the tinier version. This hollow, instead of sticking or clinging to the foe, bites down on them and explodes when Perona snaps her fingers.

Also, aside from creating ghosts from her physical body, Perona’s Devil Fruit grants her the ability to remove her own spirit from her physical body, making herself into a ghost. In this form, Perona is literally untouchable and thus pretty much invincible. She cannot be cut, touched, shot, burned, nothing. Any and all attacks on Perona’s ghost form are useless and ineffective. However, she can still create hollows in this form, which attack for her. She can also pass through just about any object and float in midair, just like a real ghost. Unlike a real ghost, though, she is not transparent, so one cannot tell her spirit form from her physical one.

Mental: Despite her misgivings as being bratty and immature, Perona is actually very intelligent. She was not made a key player of Moria’s crew for nothing and it certainly shows in her battle style. Perona always goes into battle with a set plan in mind, and can come up with a new one with relative ease. She knows how to use her powers as well as her wit in the best possible ways, when to use them, and how to utilize them to gather the best results. Perona may be “pompous” as she’s referred to by Zoro, but she is not an idiot. Her battle tactics are actually frighteningly effective, and build up to the point where she starts to get physical.

These tactics include Perona using planning, as I’ve said before, and mainly intimidation and scare tactics to warp her opponent’s mind. A frightful and jumpy opponent cannot think straight or make rational decisions – which is exactly what she aims for. Perona uses her opponent’s fear to overpower them mentally before getting physical with her large and tiny hollows. Her strategies are ones that attack the mind and spirit first and foremost. She acts cocky, confident, and so sure of herself that it, in effect, intimidates her opponents. If her foes think they cannot win, then she’s achieved one goal, and can further her ploy of getting them to surrender or defeat them. Confidence in any battle can play a great role in the outcome.

Perona herself is also the main player in gathering information for Moria via her “Ghost Network” (the ability to create her ghosts and have them span large areas as spies. Because she sees and hears what they do, they make Intel work very easy for her) and the information she gathers with her skills is vital to the role of her captain and all of the other members of her crew.

Emotional: While Perona herself has a fairly stable emotional state, the true terror or Perona’s abilities regarding emotions is the third form of Hollow she can create. These hollows are called Negative Hollows, and they do much of what their name dictates. When these ghosts pass through a person, they hollow out that individual’s spirit of any and all pleasant emotions. It leaves the person with a feeling of despair and a negative outlook of everything about themselves. To the greatest extent, it makes the person fall to their knees, wishing they were never born, or to be reborn as something undesirable. The effects are not permanent, and wear off in about a few minutes, but during the time period of extreme negativity, the person is vulnerable to attack or being caught. These Negative Hollows are the brunt of what Perona uses to attack and capture her enemies, and she relies on them almost indefinitely to secure a victory.

In terms of herself, Perona has a rather good level of emotional restraint. She knows when to keep a level head in situations, especially when her goal is to provoke a negative response in someone (or a positive one, in the case of Usopp). In one instance in the canon, Perona is seen passing her hands through Usopp’s chest while she was in her spirit form, threatening that she would crush his heart and kill him. While she looked cocky and full of herself, as well as positively gleeful, she still kept up a serious act to scare the daylights out of him when she knew she was just bluffing and that she cannot physically touch anything while she is a ghost. If Perona had not been in control of her emotions, it’s very likely that Usopp would have caught on to her deceit, and even how her powers really work faster than he had in canon.

Current Characters at Luceti: N/A

Character

Name: Prince
Fandom: 1/2 Prince
Gender: Male (physically)
Age: 20
Time Period: Just before conquering the other cities
Wing Color: White, with red tips on the feathers
History: http://halfprince.wikia.com/wiki/Prince
Personality:
The most important thing is that mentally, Prince is a SHE. (He is actually a girl's avatar in an mmo in the novel and manhua.) He can be a little uneasy with things that most men would be confident with, and sometimes doesn't notice anything odd when guys hit on him. He is friendly, though, and forgiving, and actually more masculine than feminine.

Prince is a warrior. He is incredibly loyal to his friends, to the point where he will willingly kill hundreds to keep them safe. He can be vulgar, to the point of making people sick with the mere descriptions of what he will do to them. He is a good cook, and a big eater. He spends freely, but at the same time likes to earn money and work hard for a reward. He tends to be very lucky, but sometimes it takes more than luck.

He enjoys being with friends. Whether he's playing games, setting up a wedding, or drinking himself into a stupor, Prince likes people. He always enjoys himself more around others. However, when he's upset, he pushes his friends away, though all he really needs is someone to talk to. He is always an extrovert, and being with the people he cares about makes him feel at his best.

When Prince is depressed, he avoids others, especially those he is closest to, as he doesn't want to hurt them. However, if they approach him and pester him, he will feel offended and inadequate, and say something that hurts them. This depresses him more, and the vicious cycle continues. A sensible, sympathetic person (like Doll, his necromancer friend) can see past his defense mechanisms and pull him out of his depression; otherwise, it takes him a while to cool off. When he is depressed, he tends to be angry and do foolish things, like walk straight into a boss and almost lose Doll. He's a fool. One thing that often makes him depressed is watching people make a bigger deal about him than he thinks they should, like when he became king of his city or when his female friends Rose and Fairsky fell in love with him.

Prince is pretty much asexual, but he has no problems with flirting with members of either gender. His kisses are known to make women swoon. He enjoys flirting, but feels that when women fall in love with him, he will only break their hearts, so is loathe to seduce them (it still happens accidentally). He is actually more attracted to men, anyway, and his own handsomeness makes him slightly narcissistic.

Prince is a college student irl, but incredibly empty headed. He doesn't notice the feelings of others, often until too late. He is sometimes ditzy and has no sense of direction. He can be quite the spaz when he doesn't control himself, but when he does he has a very regal aura that inspires others.

Prince is, in general, respectful and friendly. He tries to be kind to everyone. There are ways to get him very annoyed at you, though, and if you do he might try to kill you. They are: 1) Be a hot, gay guy and hit on him for his masculinity. 2) Disrespect food, in any incarnation. Especially his food. 3) Drool on him. 4) Hurt his friends. 5) Be a hot girl who flounces her ease in getting guys. 6) Challenge his friends' pride or honor. 7) Bully others.

Prince wants to make a legend of himself and his friends, and always works to move forward. He loves to work hard, grow, and learn. He is devoted to helping others and protecting the weak.

Prince also has a second, false personality triggered by bloodlust upon entering battle. This is the "Blood Elf." When he behaves like this, he is cold and sadistic, ruthlessly slaughtering enemies with a smile on his face, and basically letting himself be drenched in their blood. Despite the complete shift in personality, his loyalty to his friends and allies never fades. This side of Prince was originally (mostly) an act, made to get fangirls to back off. At this point, it has quite literally become second nature, though Prince completely controls it, as it is not a true split personality.

Strengths: Prince is an excellent fighter, albeit an unconventional one. He has high strength and agility, and his speed has often allowed him to deal with enemies much stronger than himself, including the Demon King(who he fled successfully) and Tian Xian(Caelus in the manhua). He fights primarily with a sword, but mixes it up- a series of slashes may be broken up by anything from roundhouse kicks to headbutts. His leg attacks are as strong as those using his weapon, a black dao that gets stronger as it is used (though its power will be damped down and not grow in luceti). He can use a lot of energy to summon flames around a sword, but this power will also be weakened. Prince is also a people person; he is friendly and charismatic, though uneasy in leadership positions. He is also very hot, being an effeminate, albino-looking elf.
IN SUMMARY:
Physical: Strong, Fast, Charismatic, some maagic
Mental: A decent strategist (when he bothers to think ahead....)
Emotional: Kind, caring, strong-willed, determined

Weaknesses: Prince is denser than teak. He has no sense of direction(to the point of heading west and ending up at the east end of the continent), and is not good at picking up on the feelings of others, especially romantic feelings. He has been called downright cruel due to this, and this upsets him. He hates hurting the people he cares about. As a warrior, he has next to no magic powers, and using the few he has weakens him significantly. He can't use magic again for a while. He is not among the strongest fighters, instead relying on his speed, but this requires him to use light-weight armor, so his defense is low compared to that of a typical close-range specialist. He is especially weak against the magic of others, as it has long range and is hard to dodge. He can be overconfident or downright foolish in battle, and often gets hurt or killed due to poor decisions (like falling off a cliff or challenging a boss alone...). He is also more than a little uncomfortable with his... anatomy.
IN SUMMARY:
Physical: Male-ness, weak against magic, low defense
Mental: Kinda stupid sometimes, dense
Emotional: Easily bothered by relations with others

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.)

First Person:
[I sit up, my face in my hands.] What happened? Did I die? [It didn't hurt like dying, but I was still very uncomfortable. My whole body felt numb, and kind of tingly, especially my back.]

[Looking down at myself, the first thing I noticed was my chest. Hey, it was really distracting, OK? The second thing I noticed was that all my gear was gone, and I was just wearing plain white pants. Did I fall victim to a thief? I stretched, and my back felt even odder, and strangely heavy. It felt a little painful, too. Had I been hurt? I reached back there, and encountered... feathers? Pulling my arm forward, I turned my head to the side and caught a glimpse of...]
A wing? Are those wings? What the hell? Where am I?! [No way was I in the game anymore...]

Third Person:
With a slight lurch, the pale new feather lying in the forest near town sat up. His hands covered his face as he rubbed his eyes. Finally, he removed his hands, revealing a much-more-than-slightly attractive face, topped with shortish hair as white as his pants. He opened his red-brown eyes and took a look around. His long ears twitched slightly as he yawned, covering his mouth with one hand. He stretched... and stopped. Slowly, that same hand reached behind his shoulder. He turned his head, and flinched. "A wing? Are those wings? What the hell?!?!" He jerked forward, shocked to his core. "System!" Nothing happened. No announcements, no advice. "Where am I? This can't be the game..." Suddenly, he froze. "If this isn't the game, then why do I look like this?"

For the first time, he noticed how cold it was. It wasn't quite winter, but it was early enough in spring that temperatures were still very low. He could get hypothermia without cover. "First, clothes, then answers." He looked around, realizing for the first time he had no clue where he was going. Not that this was different from normal, or that knowing would actually help... "Hello?" He called out, loud enough to alert people, but hopefully not loud enough to alert monsters that may or may not have been in the area. "Help! Where am I?" He looked around, desperate for any signs of life, and his eyes fell upon... What was that thing? A cell phone? A computer? He cautiously picked it up, and, noticing a microphone, spoke into it. "Hello?"

A barrage of sound came out of the machine as it activated, and he almost dropped it. He flipped it shut, looked around, and found a volume control, turning down the machine before he brought it up to his face again. "Hello! I'm glad there are actually other people here... Where is here?"

[personal profile] moes 2012-03-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

❝It is difficult to convey in words. Discrepancies may arise during the transmission of date. Regardless, listen.❞
— Yuki Nagato, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

When people first meet Nagato, the obvious is for certain: she is not exactly an ordinary human. This isn't only because she is an "alien" - or a humanoid interface created by the Data Overmind - but also because, as Nagato says, there is an "absence of universally accepted personality traits."

But what exactly does this mean? Well, if you know the fact that Nagato's a humanoid interface created by the Data Overmind, then you might know that Nagato was actually created to have certain traits. This is only because her so-called head honcho believes that a stereotypical literary club members (which is what Nagato initially was in the beginning of the series) have to be a quiet, reserved, gloomy girl who simply remained in the corner reading books.

However, that cliché isn't all that there is to Nagato. Being a humanoid interface means that she has a job - and that job is to "observe Suzumiya Haruhi," because that girl may have the potential for autoevolution. Unlike Ryoko Asakura (her backup), who is peppy and cheery and actually disobeyed any commands, Nagato is pretty much obedient to her creator. And to Kyon, too, since, after all, he is the guy that Haruhi Suzumiya "chose".

In the light novels, Nagato is described multiple times as a doll, prop, or a piece of furniture that came with the clubroom. It's because Nagato's presence is barely there most of the time. Kyon states that her voice is practically easy to forget, which in turn means that Nagato too, is easily forgotten, left in the shadows.

The reason why the robot-like girl is easily forgotten (or at least, in Kyon's head) is because she doesn't speak or do much. She reads because that is what a Literary Club member is supposed to do. She follows Haruhi's orders because that is what a SOS Brigade member is supposed to do. She keeps her identity a secret because that is what a humanoid interface is supposed to do. Basically, she does what she's told and only says what is necessary. Most of the time, she gives one-word answers because it is unnecessary to give any opinion on the matter or waste time saying more than just that.

But it's because of this fact why she broke down and attempted to change the world to begin with. Because she wasn't allowed to express any emotion of anger - because she couldn't disobey orders. She had to suffer through Endless Eight over 15,000 times without saying or doing anything. She had to protect Kyon when something dangerous was about to happen.

However, even though Nagato is supposed to be emotionless - she does actually have human emotions. Of course, the humanoid interface does not know how to describe them and doesn’t explicitly understand them. In “Disappearance”, she calls emotions in general “errors” or “bugs”. Even in the beginning of the series, in “Melancholy”, Kyon states that Nagato would consider rational human thought as “noise” - if only because humans are not exactly rational creatures.

Speaking of human emotions, Nagato actually shows most of her joy and excitement when it comes do doing things on the computer. Kyon states that she actually has fun playing games, though this may not necessarily be true (mostly because the story is written in an objective first person point of view), but she does definitely seem a lot different when she's using the computer.

So basically, Nagato is a very unusually quiet girl who does show some emotion every once in a while. However, people have to get to know her very well in order to actually notice the slight changes that appear on Nagato's face. Mostly because those changes are very minute, small.

Strengths:

Physical:
• Nagato is difficult to defeat in hand-to-hand combat or in general. Being a humanoid interface means that she is practically a 'robot'. She can actually repair herself on her own. She has done this during "Melancholy", where she got stabbed by Asakura in the chest (which could be considered a fatal blow), but managed to survive it. And even speak while having the large stick in her chest.
• She hardly gets sick at all. The only reason why Nagato would get sick is because someone has sabotaged her link with the Data Overmind or with Nagato herself. This was explained in "Surprise" as well as the "Rampage".
• Nagato is an athlete, but not in the conventional sense. She uses quantum leaps and teleportation to be the second place runner during the athletic festival.
• In Endless Eight, it is proven that Nagato can hold her breath for long periods of time.

Mental:
• Nagato managed to withstand over 500+ years of repeating the same events over and over during Endless Eight. Of course, she does note that within each loop there were some slight changes, thought small.
• Her memory is excellent. Nagato remembers everything that occurs in Endless Eight, something that all the other brigade members do not recall. She actually remembers everything to the slightest detail. If you ask her to describe an event, she will most likely be ridiculously descriptive.
• Intelligent. Maybe too intelligent. She knows how to explain the concept of everything, even though it may be a little too complicated for certain people. She's pretty much scientific. She does explain her identity very well during "Melancholy", but the terms that she uses confuses Kyon because he's not as smart as she is.

Emotional:
• Nagato is practically calm, cool and collected. In "Disappearance", Koizumi says that she has a a "calm demeanor" and it is that what saved Kyon.
• Cares about her friends the brigade. She would put her life on the line for them because they are 'important' to both her and her head honcho. But she mostly protects Kyon because he's the most important person in this series, deal with it.
• A good liar. At least, when she has to. Though most of the time she just leaves things out that aren't necessary.

Weaknesses:

Physical:
• Nagato can get a cold - though it is rare. She has to be hacked into, which is difficult. So if there are any people who are techies (and ridiculously good techies) may be able to cause Nagato to have a cold.
• She's not as fast as Haruhi. We actually don't know if this is because Nagato was holding back or because she's actually not as fast as Haruhi is.
• The Data Overmind is practically in control of Nagato. Which means that they can decide whether or not Nagato stays on Earth, "dies", etcetera.
• Also, Nagato isn't as powerful as she was in "Disappearance", and her powers are limited.

Mental:
• Because of the stress that Haruhi has put Nagato through (and as well as the fact that she has to protect Kyon), Nagato's mental state forced her to change the world.
• Doesn't understand the concept of "emotions". She knows what they are, but she doesn't believe that they apply to her. She considers them as "errors" or "bugs".

Emotional:
• Has a lack of personality traits, as said in the beginning of Melancholy. Which pretty much means that she is unable to express herself in the way that she should be able to.
• She can snap, though she does it so calmly it's... scary.

Shingo Yabuki | The King of Fighters | 2/3

[personal profile] dudewheresmyflame 2012-03-02 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Character

Name: Shingo Yabuki
Fandom: King of Fighters
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Time Period: King of Fighters '99
Wing Color: Orange-red
History: http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Shingo_Yabuki
Personality: Despite being a fighter, Shingo lacks aggression in his personality. He is honest and kind-spirited, always willing to assist those in need or offer his help, even when it isn't needed. He will treat others with upmost respect and kindness, regardless of how long he's known them, or how close they are to this. It's one of his top prorities to treat everyone as a friend, even if they are to fight. For this reason, he can be seen a incredibly naive, and to some people, even a little weird, as such a geniune heart of gold is rare in the modern world.

Shingo holds high respect for all the fighters that came before him, as well as for the one who got him into the martial arts, Kyo Kusanagi. His admiration for his mentor and fellow senior student is so great that it drives him to imitate his clothing style, and even dedicate victories in his name. His fighting style is also similar, having been taught how to fight by Kyo, but is essentially incomplete as, since Shingo is not a memeber of the Kusanagi bloodline, he does not have their pyrokinetic abilities, and cannot actually produce the flame that makes the Kusanagi-style of kenpo so dangerous. However, Shingo believes that if he trains and works hard enough, he will be able to one day produce flames just from his effort. (No one has the heart to break the truth to him)

Outside of the martial arts, Shingo enjoys training his body, as well as participating in aquatic sports, such as swimming and water polo. He is also a diligent student, and has learned to divide his time well between training and sparring as well as studying to succeed and graduate from high school. He puts 110% into all of his activities, and studies are absolutely no exceptions. In addition to these, his hobbies include collecting figurines, often times of his favorite characters and fighters. His treasured possessions include his notebook, as well as gloves he recieved from Kyo with the mark of the Kusanagi family on them (a golden sun).

Strengths:
-Has above average strength: Shingo, inspired by Kyo's performance in the King of Fighters tournament, trained day in and day out in order to achieve a physique capable of handingly the fights he would face in the tournament.
-Quick learner, with extremely good memory: While being taught by Kyo (a deal they made in which they would spend lunch period training, provided Shingo bought him lunch), one of Shingo's greatest strengths was his ability to pick up each and every technique after only seeing it once, as long as he wrote the technique down in his notebook.
-Optimistic: Hard work will beat natural talent. Good will triumph over evil. Shingo believes in all of these and more with a passion, determined to become just as strong as his idol Kyo.
-Good fighting mindset: He's able to keep his head clear in battle and fight to his fullest, as evidenced by his advancement in his first tournament (though he did eventually lose, but gained respect from many in the process.

Weaknesses:
-Naivity: He believes in the good of all people, almost to a fault. He's inherently trusting, and when Kyo agreed to teach him, he never realized Kyo wasn't taking him seriously at first.
-Determination: While never giving up is also a strength, it's a weakness for Shingo, almost getting him killed when he was determined to stop a crazed Iori's riot in King of Fighters XI by himself.
-He's still human: And as such, is prone to anything that can normally harm a human, such as illness, wounds, etc.

Character

Name: Litchi Faye-Ling
Fandom: Blazblue
Gender: Female
Age: 31
Time Period: After her true ending in Continuum Shift
Wing Color: White mottled with large black splotches
History: http://blazblue.wikia.com/wiki/Litchi

She'll be returning to Luceti with full memory of her first stay. To super-compress it all, she faced the Boundary overpowering her and ended up dying because of it, went through several months of recovery after returning from the dead, and ended up building up a small family with her housemates in House 48: David Jordan, Tsubaki Yayoi, Taokaka, and later, Kazuma Kval. More than anything, she was terrifed of her death penalty being lifted: complete cutoff from the Boundary. It granted her a second lease on life that led her to love Luceti and its inhabitants as her new home, even taking over the village clinic after some time. Her time with her "family" led her to finally overcome her past demons and move on with her life... although when Dave eventually was sent home, leaving behind an engagement ring for her, it broke her almost completely. Perhaps luckily for her, she returned to Kagutsuchi herself not long afterward.

Re: Litchi Faye-Ling | Blazblue | 2/3?

[personal profile] not_meatbuns 2012-03-02 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Litchi is a kind-hearted, warm, and caring woman. Her main concern is the well-being of others and she has a habit of assuming a sisterly or motherly role towards just about everyone she meets, especially those younger than herself. She worries a lot about those she cares about -- rather like a fretting mother hen. But it makes her an excellent doctor, caring so much about her patients that she'll wear herself out completely just to make sure they're safe and sound.

On the flip side, though, Litchi is an incredibly stubborn woman, and brutally honest. She can carry a guilt trip on for ages, feeling guilty over anything that can even slightly be considered her fault, and continually beating herself up over it. Her usual show of calm confidence withers completely if she's faced with the major skeleton in her closet: her former lover, now known as Arakune. Breaking down into an uncertain, hesitant, and heartbroken mess, this is her absolute weakness. And faced with the dark side of her Boundary-given powers, she further crumbles into a panicked shadow of her usual self, terrified of what she's becoming -- or, perhaps more accurately, what she's losing.

Most of the time, though, Litchi is an incredibly intelligent, gentle, and caring woman. Just very, very stubborn. And a worrywort.

...Unless she's drunk. Then she's just a complete lunatic. Noel, Tsubaki, and a good chunk of Luceti can attest to this.

Strengths:
Physical: As a fighting game character, Litchi is very strong. Very strong. Her Boundary powers can spike up through the roof in times of need (or, unfortunately, if she's getting too worked up) and can make her so immensely powerful that even the eight-foot cyborg Tager is afraid. Her fighting style further piggybacks on her physical prowess -- graceful, fluid movements that only a perfectly fit woman could handle.

Mental: Litchi is brilliant. A former scientist for Sector Seven, respected even by the world-renowned genius Kokonoe for her medicinal knowledge, and now a very successful doctor, Litchi is most definitely incredibly book smart. She is usually very level-headed in times of need and her stubbornness can serve her well in keeping her out of trouble. (As evidenced in how much she resisted even talking to Hazama after he dug up dirt on her past.)

Emotional: Always willing to shoulder the burdens of those she loves, Litchi will always stubbornly stay by the side of whoever needs her most, unflinching. Very forgiving and loving despite all the odds. Makes friends very easily (all of Orient Town loves her... and the Kaka Village... and a decent chunk of Ronin-gai...)

Weaknesses:
Physical: The Boundary powers. If used too much, the taint of the Boundary will break her body down to the point that she will be unable to even move on her own. Even without being actively used, the power is beginning to take a terrible toll on her body -- resulting in crippling damage in several endings and terminal illness in another (as in... she would die within six months). Also terribly nearsighted without her glasses. Also rather slow in battle, and her fighting style tends to leave her wide open for counterattacks.

On a lighter note, Litchi is a total lightweight when it comes to alcohol... and is an obnoxious drunk. She's kidnapped two NOL officers for forced cosplay already; clearly a force to be reckoned with.
Mental: Again with the Boundary powers. The powers are breaking down her mental state rapidly by allowing her to see into the memories of all the other Litchis in all the other alternate dimensions and timelines. Infinite possibilities, infinite memories, all crashing down on one mind... it doesn't happen all the time, but it's happening with increasing frequency and it scares the bejeezus out of her. Also beginning to be terribly lured in by the power of the Azure Grimoire. If she touches it, she'll completely lose herself.

On a less-Boundary-power-related note, Arakune is a gigantic, glaring weakness. Anything even slightly related to him causes Litchi to shut. down. She panics, cries, begs for him to be saved, nearly gets herself killed over him... it's a mess.

Emotional: She cares a bit too much. Losing someone she cares about can and WILL cause her to completely melt down. See Arakune, especially in that she was willing to side with Hazama just to have a chance of saving him. She's terribly easily manipulated due to this intense care for others.

Character

Name: Freyr
Fandom: Matantei Loki or Mythical Detective Loki (Specifically the first part of the manga series up through vol 7, though a small amount of the beginning of the second part of the series Matantei Loki Ragnarok will be included. This is not to be confused with the anime that is slightly different in events.)
Gender: Male
Age: Looks mid 20s, is really thousands and thousands.
Time Period: Vol 3 of Ragnarok after Loki plays the game of like with Utgard Loki.
Wing Color:
History: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Detective_Loki_Ragnarok
Personality: Freyr is what most would call a ditz, in fact he and his sister are frequently referred to as the "stupid siblings" because they are so dingy most the time. However despite this Freyr somehow is capable of many great feats, he is considered a hero of the gods for a reason. So usually even if it might be in a fumbling sort of manner Freyr manages to succeed with his goals. However his goals in canon are not succeed. (Though his thieving are successful despite the fact he doesn't get far with this items, usually given them to Mayura before he escapes.) Mostly this is because his first goal is to keep Loki in Midgard, though he doesn't seem particularly interested in that so he doesn't take it seriously. The other is to win Mayura's heart, which Mayura doesn't seem to notice very well.

For the most part Freyr is a joke character, every so often he might say something mysterious and serious, or even look the part, but it never lasts. He's very easy going and self absorbed and doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to things he doesn't personally care about. (Though he may remember them somewhere down the line.)

We do get to see a slightly more serious and capable Freyr later in the series, but those chapters have not been translated and I do not know the circumstances so I won't mention what it means here. If I were to guess it's simply aspects that coincide with the fact he is capable when he wants to be and puts his mind to it. He is a hero and a great warrior after all.

Strengths: One of Freyr's strengths is in his ability to be optimistic and pursue his beliefs and desires without letting others get in his way. In fact no matter what other people say or do it won't change his mind once he's decided on something. His conviction is something to be admired in this respect. This is best illustrated in his pursuit of Mayura, who no matter what he doesn't give up on despite the fact she obviously doesn't think of him in a romantic way like he does of her.

He is also known for being rather skilled as a warrior and the best at Runes out of all the gods. Even Loki who is known for his skill with Runes states that Freyr surpasses him in that regard.

Freyr's imagination is also quite amazing and considering his "inventing" skill only works because of his imagination it's a great asset. Since his inventions do not work based on what they are made of but rather what they are intended to do this means the more creative Freyr was when making it the better it will work, as the only thing that allows them to function is the power of a god.

Freyr is immensely positive and rarely is held down for long. Even when he's feeling low it doesn't last long. Of course some of this could be the fact he seems to have an incredibly short attention span. Frequently he will change moods or abandon topics simply because Mayura walked by. In fact in vol 7 he decides to stay in Midgard, despite having planned to leave soon, simply because he saw Mayura and still wanted to pursue her.

Weaknesses: Freyr despite being considered a great warior and user of magic as well as inventor and other things, is not the brightest person around. It's debatable how much of this is true lack of intelligence and how much of it is severe lack of anything near common sense. However in the end he is slow to realize things, is incredibly oblivious and gets confused easily. Though despite this he seems to be one of the few gods on Midgard (out of Loki, Thor, Freya and Heimdall) to know something happened to Odin to change him. A good example of his lacking the ability to figure simple things out is a trick Loki set up once while he was acting like a phantom Thief. Loki put a tedybear in a boc with a mirror on one side so it would look like it was floating. Freyr thought this was something with magnets and was desperate to know how it was done. It also took him several meetings with Loki to realize that child Loki and adult Loki were the same Loki he was suppose to be finding.

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.)

First Person:

Freyr hadn't been expecting a vacation, Freyr has very important work on Midgard after all.

[Not that he had been very focused in that "important work" before.]

But Freyr doesn't mind! It's sort of fun, and very nice looking. The wings are also a nice touch, very fairytale, though they should do something more than sit there and be pretty. Like fly, or be used as a defensive shield. If they were bigger it would be better. In fact, now that Freyr thinks about it, he could make a pair of wings that served a better function. They would be massive! Allow the user to fly, defend against attack, shoot lasers, have a GPS, an LED screen, a quantum clock....

Yes! Inspiration! Freyr shall invent a pair of wings that are the best wings ever!

[Hopeless to try and talk him out of it now.]

Maybe Freyr will make more than one and share them with people who are interested.

Third Person:

When Freyr woke up in the forest he was very confused. In fact confused was probably an understatement for how he felt, he was beyond confused, he was completely lost. Of course he noticed right away that there was something different and wrong with him, not the wings, but he knew he did not feel right. He couldn't quite place it though, that feeling of wrongness that settled in the back of his mind. If he had thought about it more it probably would have come to him, his godhood was no longer there. His magic and power was now different than it was. But he didn't, instead he got distracted by the forest and animals and his surroundings.

"Freyr doesn't remember coming here, but it's a very pretty place," he was speaking to himself, but it sounded more like he was speaking to someone not there. Or perhaps he was just speaking to anyone who might be close by.

It was a while later before he even noticed the book, but he did notice it before walking away, however he noticed it before the wings.... At first he wasn't particularly interested, but it slowly nagged at him. Why was there a book there? What was in the book? Was this going to be like one of those fairy tales where you open the odd out of place thing and end up in a magical story land?

He paused staring at it for a moment, a serious expression on his face as if he were observing caution, but then he shrugged sat down and flipped it open. Nothing happened, he was partially disappointed.

"Freyr found someones journal?" he blinked a bit as he glanced over the page. It was only a few lines before he turned away from it and held it as far away as he could. "To pry into someones personal feelings! To read their dark secrets! Freyr shouldn't, it would be an invasion of privacy!" but it only took a moment for him to start reading it again. It wasn't written very well, it was like a bunch of people were using the book together. What a ridiculous journal. How would a diary like that get published later? No one would read it.

After a while he noticed that the first page was blank. Why would anyone make the first page blank? Maybe they wanted a title. Well since it seemed like a collaborative work Freyr could easily give a wonderful title, he just needed a pen....

Where were his pants? For that matter were where his clothes?

"Was Freyr violated without even knowing it!?" He shrieked. But in the next moment noticed the pants near by.

It would take a while for him to get used to things....

Kitty Pryde | X-Men Evolution | Reserved

[personal profile] phasingthrough 2012-03-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
History: Beyond Evolution, Summary, Episode Guide

Personality:
Kitty is pretty much a normal teenaged girl, sans the whole walking through walls thing. She is young, free-spirited, and kind, but she’s also very brave and always willing to be there for her friends.

Her most dominate trait is her loyalty. She is loyal to her friends and her fellow X-men, whom she considers to be her family. She’d do anything to protect them, and supports them through the hardships they go through. This loyalty is something she proves over and over throughout the series. In “Joyride”, her loyalty for the X-men proves to be more important to her than her own feelings for Lance. Lances decides to join the X-men to be closer to Kitty, but only ends up leaving when it proves to be not the right fit for him. Instead of leaving to be with him, she stays with the X-men because it’s where she feels like she belongs. Another example of her loyalty can be seen in “Ghost of a Chance”. In the episode, Kitty meets another mutant named Danielle who can create illusions of a person’s fear or wish. Kitty believes that Danielle has come to live in the mansion with the others, but is kicked out due to her powers; however, this proves not to be true at all. It turns out, Danielle was never at the mansion at all, and with Kurt’s help (which is more like Kitty forcing him to help), the two discover that she went missing two years ago and where she is located. Kitty is able to save her new friend, and shows that even though none of what happened was real, Kitty is truly loyal to her friends, and willing to risk her life in order to save them.

Along with her loyalty, Kitty is very brave and is always willing to put herself out there. Because she is an X-man, she is always willing to put herself out there in a fight. Her powers actually make her brave. Kitty isn’t afraid to get in close or put herself in danger, knowing that she can just phase out of it. She is also willing to use her powers to protect others from getting hurt as well.

In the episode “No Good Deed”, Kitty is willing to put herself in danger by phasing a passenger train through an oil train in order to stop. However, this didn’t work because she wasn’t able to use her power for that long on such a large object, so the two trains collide and an explosion occurred. Luckily, Kurt was right there, ready to teleport her out. As mentioned, during “Ghost of a Chance”, Kitty doesn’t even think twice about going to save Danielle, even though she is putting her own life in danger. Danielle’s friendship only occurred in a dream for Kitty, but that was enough for her to befriend the other girl.

Kitty is also judgmental. When someone doesn’t agree with her, then she takes it to heart. She tends to be overly judgmental with friends like Kurt and Lance. Like when they were exposed for being mutants, and Kurt wasn’t, it really upset Kitty that he didn’t come out and tell everyone about who he was. She didn’t like the fact he was still in hiding. Partly because she didn’t like the fact he was ashamed of himself, but mainly because she didn’t think it was far that everyone else had to suffer when he didn’t. Kitty also puts a lot of pressure on Lance, but mainly because of her feelings for him. It is clear that Kitty has a crush on Lance, even that he shares these feelings, but the two just don’t share the same views. She pushes him and even yells at him for the actions she doesn’t agree with. This can be seen in “Ascension” when she pushes him to fight, but he refuses, wanting the world to be turned into mutants by Apocalypse.

In tandem with that, Kitty is also a bit of a drama queen, which goes a lot with her age. She can be seen throwing fits when things don’t go her way. When she first enters the series, she kicks over a chair in annoyance because of the fear of her power. She even snaps at others, Jean and Lance, when they try to help her because she refuses to accept her powers. Even in “Grim Reminder” she acts out because she couldn’t find a place to be alone to write a letter to her mother. She complains about her friends not giving her any personal space or alone time, even though at the beginning of the episode she phases through the bathroom door when Rogue is using it. By the end of the episode she discovers that even though she still wants some time alone, her time and friends at the institute is actually something she loves and would never give up.

But, Kitty is also very mature and observant. For example, in “Grim Reminder” Kurt thinks that Wolverine locked them him and Kitty out of the cockpit of the X-jet, but Kitty is quick to point out that he is actually protecting them from himself, since he was no longer in control of his actions thanks to the chip in his head from when he was Weapon X. In “Retreat”, Kitty notices how depressed Hank has been getting, so she offers up an idea. It is a way to help her with her homework, which is mentioned earlier in the episode, but it’s also a way to help him get out. Hank was growing depressed with spending all of his time in doors, so Kitty thought of a way to help him and others in the process. She’s also observant on the battle field and is very aware of the state of the people around her. In “Ascension”, Kitty notices that Wanda is having a hard time facing her father and tries to snap her out of her daze.

Lastly, Kitty is a normal teenaged girl. All she wants is to fit in. She works hard to get good grades and be a good student, but she also works hard to be one of the cool kids. She’s always asking about where a party is and if she can go or not. She even goes as far as to throw a party at the mansion, with help from some of the other younger members. All she wants is to have some fun. Just because she has these powers doesn’t mean she isn’t a teenager. She still has a lot to learn about life, but she’s ready to face it head on.

Personality

Character

Name: Groose
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Time Period: After the end of Skyward Sword
Wing Color: Dark purple with white and red tips, like the wings of his Loftwing
History: Zelda Wiki's history on Groose
Personality: Oh boy. Groose has quite the personality. He is brash, mean, arrogant, rude, and yet is, as Fi puts it, "pure of heart." He initially begins the game as Link's rival, the tough guy who tries to steal Zelda from Link and bully him into losing the match that will determine who graduates to the next level of the Knight Academy. While Link and Zelda technically were not romantically involved, Groose was still insanely jealous of their close relationship and sought to have Zelda for himself. However, it's clear that he cares for Zelda beyond just wanting her as a "trophy" or because she's pretty. When she is kidnapped, he does genuinely want to rescue her, even if it means risking his life by diving down from the sky.

Groose is in love with himself, basically. He deserves the top things in life, he deserves to be the hero, he deserves to have Zelda... When he lands on the undiscovered surface world (future Hyrule) with Link, he proposes that the land should be called "Grooseland." Later on, when he helps Link and Impa (or "Grannie," as he calls her) defeat the Imprisoned, he helps out with his bomb-catapult device which he aptly named the "Groosenator." Finally, at the end of the game, when Zelda has been rescued and Demise defeated, he jokingly proposes that this story should be called "the Legend of Groose."

When Groose is informed by Impa that he is not the Hero of Legend, the Goddess' Chosen Hero, Groose has a meltdown, contemplating his usefulness in life. Part of the reason is that he does truly care for Zelda and wants to help her, but the other part is his own arrogance; he wants to mean something in life, and he wants to be somebody. Finally, he accepts that he is not the "number one guy," but that he can still help out. After all, Impa does tell him that he will have his own part to play in saving the world.

With his newfound resolve, Groose accepts being second banana. His affection for Zelda outweighs his arrogance, and he stops hating Link after witnessing his admirable swordsmanship against the Imprisoned. So, he builds the Groosenator, and with that, the next two battles with the Imprisoned are much easier. He even decides to stay in the surface, saying goodbye to the life he once knew in Skyloft, because he truly begins to care about saving the world, not just Zelda. And he also begins to really care for Impa, not in a romantic fashion, but most likely as a son would care for a mother.

At the end, when Ghirahim kidnaps Zelda, Groose throws himself in the way, no longer caring about himself. Now he cares only about Zelda and the fate of the world. He saves her again when her body is flung away by Ghirahim later on.

So basically, Groose underwent a humbling shift over the course of the game. While he still is quite the arrogant man, he now has much more respect for others, and is willing to put himself aside for someone he truly cares about. He is open about his emotions, too, at least in front of certain people. When Zelda reappears for the first time toward the end of the game, Groose openly weeps in happiness. And when Impa finally dies at the end, Groose falls to his knees in despair, showing a much stronger reaction than Link and Zelda.

However, it is likely that Groose would be more likely to suppress these reactions in front of his peers, such as Cawlin and Stritch (who essentially serve as the LeFou to his Gaston). After all, Groose wants to be cool. He wants to be the top dog, the tough guy. But when the fate of the world is concerned, he will know when to back off.

As for romance, if he has a crush on someone, he is likely to ignore anything they say and get lost in la-la-land, being soothed by their beautiful voice and thinking about how pretty they are. But when it comes to true love, Groose will realize that he wants the other to truly be happy. This is why he was able to let Zelda go. He was willing to help her, but eventually knew it was not in the cards for him to be with her. He probably still has lingering feelings for her here, but will begrudgingly let Link have her. If another man swoops in on her, though, Groose may step in and brazenly attempt to evaluate if he's good enough for her or not. Chances are, this new man won't be. He accepts Link because he's, well, Link. The Chosen Hero of the Goddess.

Strengths: First off, Groose most likely has great physical strength, judging by the size of his muscles. However, he's clearly not the swordsman that Link is. Groose may indeed be a good swordsman, though, seeing as he is in the Knight Academy training to be a knight. He is also decent at flying his Loftwing, though not as good as Link. However, he is also very crafty and innovative, judging by his construction of the very-helpful Groosenator. He can put his mind forth and accomplish many things. Also, he can be selfless and put others before himself if he truly, truly cares about the other people. It was these abilities that ultimately helped Link defeat Demise and save the world. Had Groose not been there, Link may have lost.

Weaknesses: Groose's arrogance and bullying are definitely weaknesses. While he may cut down on the bullying after the end of Skyward Sword, the tendency is certainly still there, and will likely keep at it to make himself feel superior. His bullying definitely was a downfall at the beginning of the game; his mistreatment of Link made Zelda dislike him even more, thus lessening his chances of being with the girl he loved. Arrogance can also lead to overconfidence, and I am sure Groose will have many overconfident moments in Luceti. For instance, he was absolutely sure he was going to win the Loftwing match, as he had Cawlin and Stritch throw eggs at Link to slow him down, but Link still won.

He also is rather down on himself if he can't accomplish what he wants, making him withdraw for long periods of time. When Zelda first disappeared, he holed up in his room, lamenting that he couldn't do anything to save her. Then when Impa told him he was not the Hero of Legend, he went off by himself for a long time, mulling over this fact in sadness. So, it will take him a long time to get the motivation to help, as he spends a while feeling sorry for himself a lot.

Character

Name: Scorpius
Fandom: Farscape
Gender: Male
Age: Uh. At least 30-something? Given how long Sebaceans and Scarrans both live it probably is more lol ages in this show...
Time Period: Following Crais imploding his Command Carrier at the tail end of season 3
Wing Color: Black
History: legit
Personality: Scorpius is, first and foremost, a man who is utterly consumed with a need for vengeance. It informs almost all of his actions and defines his whole personality at this point: Scorpius hates the Scarran race and everything it stands for. He would see them dead, and basically everything he has done in his adult life has been to facilitate this end. While through the course of the series Scorpius goes out of his way to define this thirst for vengeance in many ways - altruistic, for the good of the galaxy, out of loyalty to the Peacekeepers, and many other ways, when the chips are down (as seen in the first issue of the Farscape Boom Comics) he is willing to create a new war if necessary to justify their destruction. He just really, really hates them (for relatively good reason) and it is his life's work to see them utterly destroyed.

This is not to say he is a single-minded individual though, far from it. Scorpius, at any given time will have dozens of plans and plots hanging in the winds. He is an incredibly intelligent and cunning individual - a scientist, a military leader, a technical genius, and basically everything in between. He can lie with a perfectly straight face, but more often than not, Scorpius tends to prefer to play both sides of an argument, or control all sides of a given situation, overwhelming his opponents with superior resources (gained through alliances, duplicity, or both) and outmaneuvering them. He's a smooth operator, for want of a better term, who handles all the angles and is able to charm and intimidate people with almost equal skill. While intelligent and powerful in general, Scorpius also tends to win through the use of a silver tongue.

Okay so, what makes him tick beyond that. In his own words, Scorpius is a "patient" man. He's willing to focus in On a specific thing and wait until the moment is right, using a long reaching plan (like, for example, his neutral clone chip). This does not mean, however, that he is complacent. Scorpius, in the series, is constantly in motion - setting in a new plan, a new scheme, making a new alliance, or studying new information. He might be patient, but he knows that his time is far from infinite (in the series nominally due to the fact that the Scarrans will invade Peacekeeper space and - he thinks - win) and thus wants to produce results by whatever means necessary. Despite showing some genuine affection here and there - Braca, Sikozu to an extent, and twistedly with Natira - for the most part, if it further his Great Goals (that is to say, destroying the Scarrans, albeit in the series until the end of Peacekeeper Wars that is generally translated as ensuring Sebacean dominance) basically everything is expendable to him if it no longer serves a purpose. (NOTE: this can and does include innocent bystanders)

Okay finally something of note beyond all this framework: From his appearance in season 1 through the end of Peacekeeper Wars, the main focus of Scorpius's attention is John Critchon. It's really not unfair at all to say that Scorpius is obsessed with John. It's not because of any skill he has or a vendetta per se, it's because John possesses the knowledge of how to control and make wormholes, which are both the most powerful source of transit and (theoretically) the most powerful weapon in existence. Scorpius has chased John all over Sebacean space, the Uncharted Territories, and pretty much everywhere else for the sake of that knowledge, often torturing him or his comrades when he gets the chance to do so. However, it's really not personal as of the canon point I am apping from (at least, not that personal - I would argue it becomes more personal from every point after it) he just really feels he needs that wormhole data, which is why through most of season 3 (as his neural clone was extracted with what he assumed was the complete data) Scorpius leaves John and co alone for the most part until he realizes the data he has is incomplete.

Scorpius's confrontation with John after he learns these facts really highlights his personality traits though. Not trusting John, but welcoming him to the research team on his terms, Scorpius tries to speed things up through telling John the specifics whys of his desire for the wormhole weapon, citing the Scarrans as being a threat to everyone. However, when all these attempts are not producing results fast enough - due to a woman named Grayza showing up and mucking up his timing - Scorpius reveals that he has in fact had the ultimate ace the entire time: he reveals that through obsessive star-charting he has located where Earth is, and while he admits it would take him decades to arrive at it, he is willing to go that far and destroy it (or, perhaps, the Scarrans would) if John does not cooperate. Ultimately, all these fail due to the insane plan John came up with as well as a sacrifice on the part of Crais and Talyn, but his plan is very, very bulletproof seeming until the very last moment. (which is typical of Scorpius's encounters with John and the crew of Moya)

Strengths:
- Though not nearly as tough as a proper Scarran, the Scarran parts of his biology afford Scorpius vastly superior strength to the average Sebacean, as he is shown to throw Crais around like a rag doll with his bare hands when he is provoked.
- It's unclear if this is a result of his thermal suit's material or his Scarran skin (more likely it is the former) but Scorpius has a distinct resistance to pulse weaponry, and is able to take several shots and still keep going. While his suit is rarely tested as compared to conventional weapons, it is most likely as strong or stronger than Kevlar to boot.
- Despite those two bits, however, Scorpius's true strength is his genius level intellect and incredible wit. Through the entire series Scorpius is often two steps ahead of everyone else and it is only through luck, insanity, or some combination of the two that he is ever truly defeated in the run of the show. He manipulates events and other characters, and often when his plans have "failed" he has still leaked something in to win in the end, such as when Grayza ousted him from power, he had Braca as an inside man and on the spot planted his first seeds of winning over Sikozu in the same bit. When John escaped his Gammak Base (blowing it up as well), Scorpius was able to put a neural clone of himself in John's head which would plague him the rest of the series. When he "killed" the neural clone to win John's trust, he actually made it dormant and set to activate to urge John to save his life if it was necessary. Basically, the guy is really smart and clever and all that. And patient.
- ...He also seems to be a surprisingly good shot with a pulse rifle. But this is a minor ability -while not afraid to get his hands dirty in any instance it's only really in season 4 (and Peacekeeper Wars) when he's totally out of his element where he takes to the battlefield personally. (albeit, in Luceti he would be in that situation so)

Weaknesses:
- His most direct and obvious weakness is his own biology. Scarrans thrive on heat (and produce it!) whereas Sebaceans when subjected to heat begin to shut down mentally. What this means is that Scorpius is eternally at war with his own biological make up, and in order to (comfortably) survive he's gone to great lengths: he has a thermal suit we never see him out of (presumably he could not safely leave it) and cooling rods which are inserted directly into his brain. These rods also seem to need to replaced ever few hours, or a series of negative effects happen: first he gets more irritable and violent as his Scarran part takes over, then he begins to think less clearly, followed by foaming at the mouth and projectile vomiting. After this, he eventually succumbs to heat delirium (in which he loses short term memory and experiences physical paralysis) and eventually would fall prey to the Living Death - which would throw him into a brain-dead coma.
- Emotionally, while he does inspire a unique loyalty in a select few (Braca, to a lesser extent Sikozu or Natira; perversely John), on the whole Scorpius is very distant for people. A part of this is how swank and, frankly, creepy he can be, but aside from this he is very slow to put trust in people, and even people he does "trust," he rarely does so without some ace up his sleeve. What this means is at the end of the day if his manipulations fail or he's pulled out of his element, he has very few allies, let alone friends. (That said, he is very rarely pulled entirely out of his element)
- It plays into his biology, but it is worth noting that he is half-Scarran and he does not seem to eat crystherium with any regularity. What this means is that the Scarran parts of his brain are incredibly simplistic and when he loses his temper, his cooling rods are failing him, or some combination of the two, he often thinks far less clearly. This is usually shown by using a deeper, "Scarran" voice as opposed to his usual smooth one.
- ...John? This totally counts. Scorpius's manipulations of John are many, but John's seemingly impossible defeats of Scorpius are many too. John's special brand of insanity makes him Scorpius's natural enemy in terms of their respective ability sets; besides this, the wormhole knowledge John has in his head Scorpius is willing to kill, steal, manipulate, torture, be tortured, betray everyone ever, and die for. What's more, Scorpius goes through the show with a rapidly changing opinion of John - in seasons 1 and 2 he spends most of his time underestimating him and in season 4, Peacekeeper Wars, and particularly the comics set after Peacekeeper Wars we see him vastly overestimating John's ability. From the point I am taking him from, he has just started on the overestimation cycle, which might affect his judgment he were to encounter someone who is a Madman Who Gets Results.

First Person:
Hello, I... would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Scorpius. [The voice is calm and collected - practiced and even] And I must confess, this world's principle is fascinating - to pull beings from all manner of realities only to lock them up like this must be an... interesting, study. How unfortunate that we must all be caught up in it.

This is how you would go about it, yes? Of course...

It's a simplistic system, really. Lacking in many ways... still. One must adapt to the environment.

Patience. I've long since learned it is extremely valuable.

This will do... for the time being. In any case, to anyone still listening - Brava. [There is a light hint of sarcasm there]

Hello John.

Ah... Not here after all. A pity. [There's a very frustrated sigh here. On one hand, it's relieving - on the other, he now can't make sure that the knowledge John has is safe. It was unsettling when he found something which was posted by John in the extreme backlog of these data collection units. Over a cycle ago - nothing since, of course, so it was a slim hope, but he couldn't help but cover his bases. So... here he was. On some other plane of existence, stuck, no wormholes and nothing of value.

Well, at first glance. Time will tell.]

Third Person: At first glance, Scorpius had concluded there was nothing of value for him to be found on this world. Oh, oh how wrong he had been, he now realized. The cautionary information on Shifting in the guide had lead him to believe they were a far more inexact version of the very wormhole information he'd recently lost - ergo, he would be better suited to simply return to his reality, find John Critchon, and use the wormhole weapon he would extract from him. But no... no. It was a rare thing for him to underestimate a process such as this so completely, but now that he has found some previous Malnosso posts on this network, not to mention those which were made by others...

"Shifting" was just the power he needed. All the power he needed. With a Shift-based weapon it was conceivably possible to bring all the Scarrans here, or erase them from existence. This was made even more true by the "sacrifice" that these "Third Party" individuals seemed to know how to practice. If he were to attain both of those sets of information...

Well, it might be inefficient to pursue both. A long term goal. No matter. He was standing attop one of the community buildings, looking down at all the humans - yes humans, how quaint - and other assorted beings still out at this time of night. No doubt, most of them could not clearly make him out at this distance, but he was able to see their every movement easily. And yet... despite the relative weakness of the senses in this population, a great many of them had fantastic abilities well beyond the scope of most species in his reality. Some of their natural talents, or perhaps acquired talents well surpassed those of the Scarrans, even. Useful allies, incredibly tiresome enemies.

Which is why, of course, they would be considered allies. After all, no Critchon, no Scarrans, no reason to make enemies among the population of this "village." His only enemies... And he looked now up at the "night sky" - those unfamiliar stars he was all but certain were an illusion for this barrier. His only enemies were those who were holding onto the information he now decided he would seek outside of this barrier.
