Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

FANDOM CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Kitty Pryde | X-Men Evolution | Reserved

[personal profile] phasingthrough 2012-03-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
History: Beyond Evolution, Summary, Episode Guide

Personality:
Kitty is pretty much a normal teenaged girl, sans the whole walking through walls thing. She is young, free-spirited, and kind, but she’s also very brave and always willing to be there for her friends.

Her most dominate trait is her loyalty. She is loyal to her friends and her fellow X-men, whom she considers to be her family. She’d do anything to protect them, and supports them through the hardships they go through. This loyalty is something she proves over and over throughout the series. In “Joyride”, her loyalty for the X-men proves to be more important to her than her own feelings for Lance. Lances decides to join the X-men to be closer to Kitty, but only ends up leaving when it proves to be not the right fit for him. Instead of leaving to be with him, she stays with the X-men because it’s where she feels like she belongs. Another example of her loyalty can be seen in “Ghost of a Chance”. In the episode, Kitty meets another mutant named Danielle who can create illusions of a person’s fear or wish. Kitty believes that Danielle has come to live in the mansion with the others, but is kicked out due to her powers; however, this proves not to be true at all. It turns out, Danielle was never at the mansion at all, and with Kurt’s help (which is more like Kitty forcing him to help), the two discover that she went missing two years ago and where she is located. Kitty is able to save her new friend, and shows that even though none of what happened was real, Kitty is truly loyal to her friends, and willing to risk her life in order to save them.

Along with her loyalty, Kitty is very brave and is always willing to put herself out there. Because she is an X-man, she is always willing to put herself out there in a fight. Her powers actually make her brave. Kitty isn’t afraid to get in close or put herself in danger, knowing that she can just phase out of it. She is also willing to use her powers to protect others from getting hurt as well.

In the episode “No Good Deed”, Kitty is willing to put herself in danger by phasing a passenger train through an oil train in order to stop. However, this didn’t work because she wasn’t able to use her power for that long on such a large object, so the two trains collide and an explosion occurred. Luckily, Kurt was right there, ready to teleport her out. As mentioned, during “Ghost of a Chance”, Kitty doesn’t even think twice about going to save Danielle, even though she is putting her own life in danger. Danielle’s friendship only occurred in a dream for Kitty, but that was enough for her to befriend the other girl.

Kitty is also judgmental. When someone doesn’t agree with her, then she takes it to heart. She tends to be overly judgmental with friends like Kurt and Lance. Like when they were exposed for being mutants, and Kurt wasn’t, it really upset Kitty that he didn’t come out and tell everyone about who he was. She didn’t like the fact he was still in hiding. Partly because she didn’t like the fact he was ashamed of himself, but mainly because she didn’t think it was far that everyone else had to suffer when he didn’t. Kitty also puts a lot of pressure on Lance, but mainly because of her feelings for him. It is clear that Kitty has a crush on Lance, even that he shares these feelings, but the two just don’t share the same views. She pushes him and even yells at him for the actions she doesn’t agree with. This can be seen in “Ascension” when she pushes him to fight, but he refuses, wanting the world to be turned into mutants by Apocalypse.

In tandem with that, Kitty is also a bit of a drama queen, which goes a lot with her age. She can be seen throwing fits when things don’t go her way. When she first enters the series, she kicks over a chair in annoyance because of the fear of her power. She even snaps at others, Jean and Lance, when they try to help her because she refuses to accept her powers. Even in “Grim Reminder” she acts out because she couldn’t find a place to be alone to write a letter to her mother. She complains about her friends not giving her any personal space or alone time, even though at the beginning of the episode she phases through the bathroom door when Rogue is using it. By the end of the episode she discovers that even though she still wants some time alone, her time and friends at the institute is actually something she loves and would never give up.

But, Kitty is also very mature and observant. For example, in “Grim Reminder” Kurt thinks that Wolverine locked them him and Kitty out of the cockpit of the X-jet, but Kitty is quick to point out that he is actually protecting them from himself, since he was no longer in control of his actions thanks to the chip in his head from when he was Weapon X. In “Retreat”, Kitty notices how depressed Hank has been getting, so she offers up an idea. It is a way to help her with her homework, which is mentioned earlier in the episode, but it’s also a way to help him get out. Hank was growing depressed with spending all of his time in doors, so Kitty thought of a way to help him and others in the process. She’s also observant on the battle field and is very aware of the state of the people around her. In “Ascension”, Kitty notices that Wanda is having a hard time facing her father and tries to snap her out of her daze.

Lastly, Kitty is a normal teenaged girl. All she wants is to fit in. She works hard to get good grades and be a good student, but she also works hard to be one of the cool kids. She’s always asking about where a party is and if she can go or not. She even goes as far as to throw a party at the mansion, with help from some of the other younger members. All she wants is to have some fun. Just because she has these powers doesn’t mean she isn’t a teenager. She still has a lot to learn about life, but she’s ready to face it head on.
