This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Personality
Name: Groose
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Time Period: After the end of Skyward Sword
Wing Color: Dark purple with white and red tips, like the wings of his Loftwing
History: Zelda Wiki's history on Groose
Personality: Oh boy. Groose has quite the personality. He is brash, mean, arrogant, rude, and yet is, as Fi puts it, "pure of heart." He initially begins the game as Link's rival, the tough guy who tries to steal Zelda from Link and bully him into losing the match that will determine who graduates to the next level of the Knight Academy. While Link and Zelda technically were not romantically involved, Groose was still insanely jealous of their close relationship and sought to have Zelda for himself. However, it's clear that he cares for Zelda beyond just wanting her as a "trophy" or because she's pretty. When she is kidnapped, he does genuinely want to rescue her, even if it means risking his life by diving down from the sky.
Groose is in love with himself, basically. He deserves the top things in life, he deserves to be the hero, he deserves to have Zelda... When he lands on the undiscovered surface world (future Hyrule) with Link, he proposes that the land should be called "Grooseland." Later on, when he helps Link and Impa (or "Grannie," as he calls her) defeat the Imprisoned, he helps out with his bomb-catapult device which he aptly named the "Groosenator." Finally, at the end of the game, when Zelda has been rescued and Demise defeated, he jokingly proposes that this story should be called "the Legend of Groose."
When Groose is informed by Impa that he is not the Hero of Legend, the Goddess' Chosen Hero, Groose has a meltdown, contemplating his usefulness in life. Part of the reason is that he does truly care for Zelda and wants to help her, but the other part is his own arrogance; he wants to mean something in life, and he wants to be somebody. Finally, he accepts that he is not the "number one guy," but that he can still help out. After all, Impa does tell him that he will have his own part to play in saving the world.
With his newfound resolve, Groose accepts being second banana. His affection for Zelda outweighs his arrogance, and he stops hating Link after witnessing his admirable swordsmanship against the Imprisoned. So, he builds the Groosenator, and with that, the next two battles with the Imprisoned are much easier. He even decides to stay in the surface, saying goodbye to the life he once knew in Skyloft, because he truly begins to care about saving the world, not just Zelda. And he also begins to really care for Impa, not in a romantic fashion, but most likely as a son would care for a mother.
At the end, when Ghirahim kidnaps Zelda, Groose throws himself in the way, no longer caring about himself. Now he cares only about Zelda and the fate of the world. He saves her again when her body is flung away by Ghirahim later on.
So basically, Groose underwent a humbling shift over the course of the game. While he still is quite the arrogant man, he now has much more respect for others, and is willing to put himself aside for someone he truly cares about. He is open about his emotions, too, at least in front of certain people. When Zelda reappears for the first time toward the end of the game, Groose openly weeps in happiness. And when Impa finally dies at the end, Groose falls to his knees in despair, showing a much stronger reaction than Link and Zelda.
However, it is likely that Groose would be more likely to suppress these reactions in front of his peers, such as Cawlin and Stritch (who essentially serve as the LeFou to his Gaston). After all, Groose wants to be cool. He wants to be the top dog, the tough guy. But when the fate of the world is concerned, he will know when to back off.
As for romance, if he has a crush on someone, he is likely to ignore anything they say and get lost in la-la-land, being soothed by their beautiful voice and thinking about how pretty they are. But when it comes to true love, Groose will realize that he wants the other to truly be happy. This is why he was able to let Zelda go. He was willing to help her, but eventually knew it was not in the cards for him to be with her. He probably still has lingering feelings for her here, but will begrudgingly let Link have her. If another man swoops in on her, though, Groose may step in and brazenly attempt to evaluate if he's good enough for her or not. Chances are, this new man won't be. He accepts Link because he's, well, Link. The Chosen Hero of the Goddess.
Strengths: First off, Groose most likely has great physical strength, judging by the size of his muscles. However, he's clearly not the swordsman that Link is. Groose may indeed be a good swordsman, though, seeing as he is in the Knight Academy training to be a knight. He is also decent at flying his Loftwing, though not as good as Link. However, he is also very crafty and innovative, judging by his construction of the very-helpful Groosenator. He can put his mind forth and accomplish many things. Also, he can be selfless and put others before himself if he truly, truly cares about the other people. It was these abilities that ultimately helped Link defeat Demise and save the world. Had Groose not been there, Link may have lost.
Weaknesses: Groose's arrogance and bullying are definitely weaknesses. While he may cut down on the bullying after the end of Skyward Sword, the tendency is certainly still there, and will likely keep at it to make himself feel superior. His bullying definitely was a downfall at the beginning of the game; his mistreatment of Link made Zelda dislike him even more, thus lessening his chances of being with the girl he loved. Arrogance can also lead to overconfidence, and I am sure Groose will have many overconfident moments in Luceti. For instance, he was absolutely sure he was going to win the Loftwing match, as he had Cawlin and Stritch throw eggs at Link to slow him down, but Link still won.
He also is rather down on himself if he can't accomplish what he wants, making him withdraw for long periods of time. When Zelda first disappeared, he holed up in his room, lamenting that he couldn't do anything to save her. Then when Impa told him he was not the Hero of Legend, he went off by himself for a long time, mulling over this fact in sadness. So, it will take him a long time to get the motivation to help, as he spends a while feeling sorry for himself a lot.

First Person: [A tapping of the screen.] Uh... this thing on? [Another tap, then the journal is adjusted (along with the camera) as the viewer sees the square-shaped face of a red-haired man sporting a
fabulouspompadour.]Yo. I'm Groose. So uh... I tried to back up to Skyloft, but I ended up here? I... have no idea what's going on. My mind... my mind kind of imploded upon seeing this place. It's like the surface, but not really. So what's this place called? If no one's got a name for it, I have a good one!
... [A sound of a throat being cleared.]
I mean... Okay, I'm going to ask the most obvious question here.
What is up with these wings?! Yeah, when I discovered I had them, of course I tried to fly, wouldn't you? But nothing. Am I doing it wrong?
...Oh yeah actually the more important part is... How did I get them? I seriously did not have wings before.
Third Person: Demise was gone, Zelda was back, and everything had been super. Groose had set off to return back to his home in Skyloft, but the last thing he remembered was a tornado... What had happened after that? He couldn't even remember. All he knew was that he was here in this small room, lying on a bed. But what, was he lying on a rock or something? It felt like his shoulder blades had decided to to jut out.
Groose slowly sat up, no longer feeling like he was lying on a rock. Huh, that's weird... He wasn't wearing these clothes when he had flown back to Skyloft. Or at least attempted to fly back. Wait, that means... Where is his Loftwing?!
Groose immediately shot out of bed and ran outside, desperately hoping he was back in Skyloft and that he could jump off a platform and whistle for his trusty Loftwing. But no, there were no platforms, no barrier of clouds below... And he couldn't sense his Loftwing at all. He wasn't here. And this wasn't the surface... at least, this wasn't the surface that Groose knew. Where the hell even was he?
Sighing dejectedly, he walked back into that room he woke up in, spotting a mirror on the side. There was something amiss about the way he looked... It wasn't just the fact that he was wearing different clothes....
As Groose discovered what was off, he emitted a loud scream that scared off many of the birds surrounding the little house he was in. Yes, he was that surprised to see his new wings. They looked... very similar to those of his Loftwing. It wasn't the same exact style, but the colors were eerily similar. But where the hell did they come from?!
Curiously, Groose reached and plucked a feather from the wing.
"Yeowch!" he cried, getting the feeling as if someone had just waxed his eyebrows. Yeah, these wings were definitely attached, all right... But how? Why? He couldn't figure it out...
Well, no wonder he wasn't wearing a shirt. How the hell could these wings fit inside his regular attire?
Speaking of, Groose found his regular clothes folded up on a nearby chair, but when he tried to put his shirt on, the wings wouldn't fit through. Great. Now what the hell was he supposed to do? For now, he just swapped these cotton pants with his regular pair. He would figure out the shirt issue later. More importantly, he had to figure out where he was.
