Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | come and join me mods
A long time ago in a meadow far, far away... when Mei was nothing more then a little kid (get it? kid?) he and his mother were attacked by a pack of wolves while grazing. His mother, being the brave and amazing mama goat that she was, bought Mei some time to escape and live another day by attacking the wolves head on. She even bit an ear off one wolf! However despite being in an animated movie aimed at small children, a single goat is in no way a match for a pack of hungry wolves and she was devoured.
Flash forward an indiscriminate amount of time and Mei is now out eating grass and playing with his friends. As they were about to head home, a terrible thunderstorm inconveniently blows in. Being absolutely terrified of thunderstorms, Mei spazes and panics his way over to an abandoned barn while his other friends run home. Now nightfall, the barn is pitch black, aside from the occasional lightning strike, and the weather has given Mei a case of the sniffles. So as he hears a mysterious stranger enter the barn, he assumes they are another goat. As they began chatting, they realized that they had a freakish amount of things in common. For one they were both coming down with colds and couldn't smell a thing, not to mention they were both so terrified of lightning they closed their eyes every time there was a flash. Coincidentally both of their mothers would tell them to eat more, and both of their mothers were dead. Not to mention they both liked eating at the same place, not even realizing their definitions of "food" were very different. Realizing just how similar they were and just how much they got along, they promised to meet each other the next day for lunch. Of course, since neither knew what the other looked like, they came up with the code "One Stormy Night" so they would know their new friend when they say them.
Of course, it was very surprising for both parties when they found out that the friend they had met the previous night was their predator and prey. Though surprisingly enough, that didn't stop them from their picnic. Mei trusted his new wolf friend because if he had wanted to eat him, he would have done so when they first met. And for his part, his new friend told him that he treasured friendship more then a meal. As it turns out they had another thing in common: both being raised to take care of their friends. All in all? Things go pretty smoothly until they have to cross a crevice in the road, and his new wolf friend accidentally drops the lunch he packed with him. Suddenly his words are tested, and he eyeball's Mei's literal ass and contemplates how delicious he would taste the rest of the way. And surprisingly not even this ruined their picnic, as he successfully managed to convince Mei that he had absolutely no interest in goat meat. Which was all well and good until Mei decided to take a nap, and by then his wolfy friend was simply overcome with instinct to devour his new friend. Nipping at Mei's ears. Naturally this caused Mei to spring awake, not because of the sudden mortal fear that he's about to be eaten, but because his ears are extremely ticklish, and being the naive little goat that he was: thought his new friend was just tickling him. In fact Mei doesn't even fear for his mortal life when he was being lunged at, only asking him what he wanted. Luckily instead of being devoured they instead awkwardly came up with another date.
The following meeting is a little more dangerous then the first. At a meeting of all the goats, the elder goat reminds everyone not to travel on their own. Mei tries to sneak off during the meeting however he is caught by his friends and is forced to go to his secret meeting with them tagging along. Obviously Mei is a little disappointed that he has to bring his friends along with him, as it's awfully hard to keep his friendship a secret when other goats are around.Thankfully they are spotted and his new friend decides to hide in the bushes beneath a particularly fragrant olive tree, which has the lovely side effect of masking his scent. The precarious situation was only made worse by one of Mei's friends telling him about how ugly wolves were. Being thoroughly insulted by the description, Mei's friend howls from the bushes. However that backfires, as that only goads his friend about how he isn't afraid of wolves. And in a display of how he's fight them off, accidentally kicks the wolf in the head. Not being able to handle this crap anymore, he leaps out of the bushes and successfully scares Mei's friends off so they can take a nice walk through the woods and chat about how they need to keep their friendship a secret. It is during this meeting that they finally make introductions, and Mei learns his new friend's name is Gabu.
Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | let's see how long I can make a goat app...
It's a promise that would never be filled, and their troubles had only just begun.
What they have yet to realize was that the hunt had been a complete disaster in more ways then one. The first was that one of the goats in the other group had managed to escape and not only that: she had seen Mei and Gabu running off together hoof in paw. Not surprisingly she completely freaked out over this, and when she had found Mei's heard she told the rest of them about it. Mei was brought before the elder goat and asked if the allegations were true: that he really was friends with a wolf. Mei's friends begged him to tell them that it wasn't true, however that was in vain as he admitted the truth. Mei attempted to tell the other goats that Gabu was a good guy as heckled him over it. As you can imagine it didn't go very well. After all wolves eat goats and from their point of view it's impossible to be friends with your food. They insisted that his friendship was a sham and that he was being used by the wolves in order to find out information about where the goats live.
As he was alone that night he began to wonder if what everyone said was true. The reasoned words of the other goats conflicting with what Gabu had told him. It is then that Mei's grandmother comes to talk to him. Having raised him since he was very small, she felt now was the time to tell him about how mother had died.
The following day the other goats had returned, and gave him an offer: he could return to the rest of the herd and go back to the way things were on the condition that he would use Gabu in order to gain information about the wolves. Mei agrees, and the two meet again by the river, this time surrounded by other animals, and the wolves and goats watching from the opposite banks. Without warning, another thunderstorm hit. Gabu tells Mei to cross the river to a shelter underneath a large rock at the other side. It is when they are half way across the river that they both decide to fess up to what they had been put up to. Gabu was also told to use Mei to extract information about the goats in the same vein. Realizing that they no longer had a safe place to go and still have their friendship, they decided to make a decision then and there to jump into the river. They didn't know if they would survive the harsh current and impending waterfall but also knew that running away was their only chance at staying together.
Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | SPOILER ALERT: IT IS FUCKING LONG
Having both survived that ordeal Mei tells Gabu that he wants to cross the mountain. No animals had ever trekked it before, and he hears that there is an emerald forest at the other side. Knowing how far they had come it was decided that the dangerous journey was worth a shot. But they still weren't alone: Gabu's pack was still on their trail with a mission to kill the both of them. After a few nights of trekking to the mountains the pack had finally caught up with them, and they narrowly escaped by jumping across a large chasm. While they weren't quite out of the woods yet concerning the wolf pack: they were finally leaving the literal woods to start climbing the mountain.
Thing however start turning very bad for Mei as they cross the mountain. At such a high elevation the ground was covered in thick snow as blizzards rage. Collapsing from exhaustion and without a single blade of grass to eat, Mei gives up on his chances of surviving the journey. Tearfully asking Gabu to eat him so that he will have the strength to complete it for the both of them. Gabu refuses to eat his friend even though his stomach won't stop growling. Eventually Mei "convinces" Gabu to eat him by leaving their shelter and entering it again as if they had first met. However what mei doesn't realize is that Gabu had left to try and dig up some grass for Mei. That gabu wasn't successful at it, that realizing the pack would never leave them until he was dead to attack them head on. That during their intense fighting an avalanche was triggered. All he knew was that Gabu had been gone for a long time, and that he had felt the avalanche itself when it happened. He had to go out and see if Gabu was okay. And while he couldn't find him he did find something else: the emerald forest he had been searching for at the foot of the mountain.
He had survived the rest of the winter in the forest, but his spirit was broken. He couldn't find Gabu, and feeling as though he may never find him again, Mei had lost the will to keep living. It was as he dejectedly lay down that a swarm of monkeys passed over head frighteningly crying that they had seen a wolf. Mei sprung back to life, running towards who he knew was his friend. What he didn't know was that the avalanche had caused Gabu to lose all of his memories. As he elatedly ran towards his friend, Gabu ran excitedly towards his favorite meal.
Thankfully for the end of the movie and for the psyches of children everywhere: the movie did not end with Gabu eating him on the spot. Instead he had captured Mei and held him hostage in a small cave until the full moon had risen. It was during this time that Mei had learned that Gabu didn't remember anything about himself.... other then that goat meat was his absolute favorite food. Mei began to cry, he was so upset that the wolf before him just wasn't his friend Gabu anymore. He didn't want to be eaten by some strange wolf, and cried out that he wished that he had never met Gabu "one stormy night".
Those were the magic words. "One stormy night" and his memories came flooding back to him about their friendship, about everything that they had gone through together. Gabu asks Mei what he was doing out here, and Mei tells him that he had been waiting for him this whole time. They decide to finally watch the full moon together, and declare that they will always be together.
Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | SERIOUSLY YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
For a goat, Mei has quite a vibrant and human personality. He can be described as a gentle, honest, optimistic, sensitive kid. But with a naive streak far too great for his own good, carelessness that almost get's him killed, and a stubborn streak when it comes to his ideals.
And now to elaborate:
Mei is a very gentle and carefree spirit, he practically floats as he prances about. He at least tries to be considerate under normal circumstances, even if at times he lacks a certain amount of tact and shoves his hoof in his mouth. (such as offhandedly remarking about how nice it was to eat while looking at scenery.... before apologizing remembering that Gabu had forgotten his lunch) It doesn't take much to make him giggle with happiness. In fact, he is almost guaranteed to giggle at anything that makes him feel happy.
Which brings us to his sensitivity. While it's true it doesn't take much to make Mei laugh, it works for other emotions as well. Such as being upset with Gabu's need to eat meat at all in order to survive. Even though gabu was doing everything he could to make it as easy as possible for the two (only eating a few field mice when Mei was sleeping) Mei was still upset by it. Even though he did understand Gabu had to eat too, he simply doesn't like what he doesn't like. Though he did apologize later to him. Not to mention that loud sounds frighten him easily.
Mei is honest about his thoughts and feelings, and when it comes to his loved ones it is difficult for him to hide anything. Even if it has the potential to hurt him (such as confessing that he was set up by the goats to gather information, and even telling Gabu that he couldn't go on and that he should eat him). If he does keep anything a secret, such is the case with his friendship with Gabu at first: it is out of a case of necessity. Unless it really is information that NEEDS to be kept private, Mei is generally speaking an open book.
His carelessness comes at a price, and not just absentmindedly saying something that might be considered rude. Or even slipping a little when trying to balance on a rock. It comes with a certain level of naivete about the world around him and the way it operates. Good people are good to him, and he is more then willing to trust them and believe that things will work out. Even if he barely knows them! Keep in mind he had just met Gabu before trusting the wolf with his life solely because he didn't eat him the first chance he had gotten. And in his mind there was no reason not to. After all someone who shared so much in common with him and didn't eat him couldn't possibly be planning on eating him later. Even when Gabu did suspicious things like nibble at his ears, even CHARGE at him, it didn't occur to him that Gabu was going to eat him or even saw him as delicious until much later on. After he was reminded that it is in wolves natures to see him as a meal, until Gabu himself told him that goat meat was actually his favorite food. Gabu told him that he hated eating goats and he took that to heart and believed him right up until he was told otherwise. That is an insane amount of trust to give anybody, let alone a natural enemy.
Along with the natural naivete and trust Mei is a bit of an optimist. If only because he is almost always in agreement with Gabu over everything, and Gabu himself is an optimist. Despite how nigh suicidal the journey across a snow covered mountain was for a small goat and a starving wolf, they both felt that they could make it. Not only that, but also that a beautiful forest where they could live in peace without having their friendship questioned was waiting for them at the other side.
That isn't to say that he is completely pleasant one hundred percent of the time, and that's he just delicately floats through life sheltered from the world. Mei also has a stubborn streak: especially concerning his ideals. While this can be a positive trait when it comes to his unwavering loyalty towards Gabu, it also can bite. It just cannot be stressed enough that had the situation had been any different at all, Mei would have died many times over. Half the problem with the double edged nature of his personality isn't just that in the wrong situation is can be hurtful, but also that he is so stubborn at sticking to it.
But, that aside Mei truly is a wonderful friend, who is willing to stick through any obstacle a friendship throws at him. His kindness makes it easy for others to relax around him, and he takes a lot of joy in the happiness of the ones that are close to him. His carelessness is almost a part of his whimsical charm. He is genuine in all that he does and thus is sincere in his kindness.
Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | I MEAN JUST LOOK AT IT OKAY
Physical: Just look at him: he's a tiny, and at times awkwardly anthromorphized goat. He can kick and headbutt people? He has an iron stomach? Though I guess one advantage he has over normal goats is that he can use his hooves like hands and can stand upright, along with other very human expressions. So... there's that.
Mental: It takes a lot of mental strength to stand by his friendship no matter what troubles are thrown at it. Even if it means almost being killed, even if it means leaving everyone and everything that he's ever known.
Emotional: He went to the brink of death multiple times in the name of friendship. Full stop. That is some serious loyalty and trust he has going on. Especially considering despite the romantically ambiguous nature of their friendship they are still just friends. Needless to say, if he feels strongly about something and says it's important to him then it really is.
Weaknesses:
Physical: He is a tiny goat, and about as strong as your average tiny goat. Meaning he would be easy pickings if something wanted to kill and eat him. Also he really isn't much of a fighter, going for his instinct to run from combat situations. So... basically he really don't know how to fight very well (if at all) despite having the capability to do so, so all in all he's basically one rolly-polly goat who wouldn't be very hard to kill at all if he's by himself.
Mental: oooooh dear. His naive nature and innocence makes him potentially a very easy person to manipulate and potentially abuse the large amount of trust that he gives. Unfortunately he has also developed some codependency issues with Gabu. After they had separated he only managed to last through the Winter without him before giving up his will to live. Of course he managed to buck up and get his fighting spirit for life back AFTER they reunited, that doesn't change the fact that he is very unhappy when he's alone. He IS a herd animal and a natural follower after all, so without friends he would fall apart from the loneliness.
Emotional: Despite being mentally strong, ultimately Mei is emotionally very sensitive. He feels things in an incredibly pure and occasionally strong way. Which can do amazing things in the cases of love, friendship, and loyalty. However at the same time can be destructive when it comes to negative emotions. As mentioned before with mental weakness: he completely loses his will to live after being apart from Gabu for one whole season, thinking that he is completely alone and that he will never see his friend again. On a lesser note he also becomes annoyed with his friend for hunting field mice, even when he knows that Gabu NEEDS to eat meat or else he'll starve and that Gabu was even waiting to hunt after he fell asleep! He can be sensitive and moody making him irrational and selfish despite his usually very kind and gentle self.
Mei | One Stormy Night | Unreserved | though really it's my fault I am incapable of sumarizing plots
First Person:
Q&A please, sorry I just really suck at writing samples so it's in everyone's best interest. Also you guys rule at coming up with amazing questions.
Third Person:
In that moment: Mei knew exactly two things about the cake in the rain: the first is that he couldn't help but notice that it had smelled awfully nice as he passed by it on his way indoors (awfully strange mind you, but also awfully nice with it's almost sickening sweet aroma), the second was that he did not want to go back out into the rain to retrieve it. He was lucky enough to find shelter before catching a cold, and risking having the sniffles for the rest of the night for a pile of somewhat nice smelling goop was not a risk he was willing to take.
To a goat that had never so much as seen a cookie in his short life, the sight of a cake slowly melting in the rain was a strangely terrifying sight. So much so that he was going to peek at it from the safe vantage point of a window, staring with a slightly horrified expression as the chocolate frosting melted into a bizarre blobby texture with each passing drop. The cherries used to top it slowly and sickeningly sliding as the frosting beneath it turned into a thick stream of chocolate run off.
No, it was only after the rain had passed that Mei went out to inspect the damage, the cake once proudly waiting for it's consumer now nothing more then a sad blob. A depressing puddle of chocolate mud adrift in a sea of actual mud. The warmth of fresh deliciousness stripped from it's very core by the mercilessly cold droplets of life leaving cold and limp... and disgusting. Not even the cherries could be salvaged as they now lay to waste in the pool of grossness. And make no mistake about it: beneath the tiny spark of curiosity Mei was grossed out.
Really, really grossed out.
