Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Utena Tenjou - Revolutionary Girl Utena - 2/??? [PROBABLY SO MANY ERRORS]

[personal profile] revolutionarygirl 2012-03-08 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
History: (Written out because all wikis give the bare bones for history:)
One upon a time, many years ago, there was a young princess. She was very sad, for her parents had passed away. Before the princess appeared a handsome prince atop a white horse, casting a regal and kind smile down at the girl. Surrounding her in a rose-scented embrace, the prince gently wiped the tears from the princess' eyes. "Little princess," he said, "you are brave, living strong within your sorrow. Never lose this nobility, even as you mature into a young woman. The ring I gave you is a momento of this day, and should you never lose your noble heart... we will meet again--this ring will lead you to me." The ring he had presented to the princess may have been an engagment ring. Perhaps... but the princess had been so impressed by this prince that she vowed to follow in his footsteps and become a princess herself one day! But was this truly a path she should follow?

You hear this story at the beginning of many of the episodes, but it's far from what really happened.

The earliest event of Utena Tenjou's life that we know of is the death of her parents when she was a young child. Thrown into despair, the little girl entered the church where the coffins containing her parents' bodies were. Finding a third, empty coffin, Utena decided that it was meant for her and climbed into it. When two older boys found her in the coffin, she told them that her plan was waiting for death, as she no longer believed that it was worth living anymore if everyone is only destined to one day die: "there is no such thing as something eternal."

They leave... and Utena was soon found by a third individual, a prince known as Dios. She asked him if he was an angel of death, to which he answered that he wasn't. As he walked away, something prompted Utena to leave the coffin and follow him. She was led to a disturbing sight--a girl who didn't seem to be much older than Utena herself, suspended by swords impaling her. Dios told Utena that the girl before her was a witch, the Rose Bride, damned to suffer forever for taking him from all the women in the world. She had sacrificed herself for the prince she loved so dearly, despite the fact that the prince was no longer what he once was. Suffering was the only thing the Rose Bride had left.

Utena became clearly distressed by this, begging Dios to save the girl before them. When he said that he could not become the girl's prince, and that the only thing that could save her now was a different prince she could believe him, Utena made a bold declaration. She decided that she would become her prince and one day save the Rose Bride. The prince then presented Utena with her rose signet, stating that if Utena could maintain the nobility she possessed now that she may be able to return to where they were and save her... but also that Utena was a girl, destined to grow up and become a lady. That she would likely forget about this night entirely. Utena stubbornly rejected this, stating once again that she would become a prince.

As Dios predicted, Utena did indeed forget about that night. However, she did not forget about her goal. Her desire to become a prince who saves princesses persisted, dressing up in a male uniform and engaging in more masculine activities. She became a rather popular person, admired by the female and male students alike. Despite this, she seemed to only have a couple or so close friends--one of those friends being the bubbly and energetic Wakaba Shinohara.

One day, while walking the halls of Ohtori Academy, Utena and Wakaba come across a bunch of male students reading a love letter tacked up on the wall. Finding the behavior disgusting, Utena walked forward and tore the letter off the wall, even going so far as to tell off the boys for reading it. However, once she looked back to Wakaba, she found her friend in tears. When she ran away, Utena followed her only to confirm her fear--Wakaba had written that letter.

Angry on Wakaba's behalf, Utena confronted the boy who was the subject of the letter--Kyoichi Saionji, vice president of Ohtori Academy's Student Council and one of the boys who had found her the night her life changed (though neither of them recognized each other.) After hearing Saionji's cruel remarks regarding Wakaba, Utena was quick to challenge him to a duel. After noticing Utena's rose signet, he accepted, calling her the 'new challenger.' They were to duel in the forest behind the school. When Utena arrived there, she found an arena suspended in the air, and after climbing the steps to it, things only took more of a turn toward the strange: a classmate of hers was present, a quiet girl named Anthy Himemiya. She explained the rules of this duel to Utena and she placed roses in their breast pockets: the one who has their rose knocked off loses. Saionji slapped Anthy in punishment for wishing Utena good luck, causing Utena to snap at him for it, then proceeded to draw a sword from Anthy's chest. More and more strange things.
