Applications
PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!
Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.
The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.
Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
Strengths/Weaknesses
Chell is also not gullible. GLaDOS will speak of cakes and parties for Chell, but she doesn't buy into it. She can see through that front, and continues to persevere. However, Chell will go along with what a robot says if it's otherwise a life or death situation. She went along with Wheatley in the beginning of Portal 2 because she would have died otherwise, and GLaDOS had already tried to kill her. Otherwise, though, Chell is able to ignore the drivel that comes from robots. First GLaDOS in Portal 1 and parts of Portal 2, then she was able to ignore Wheatley's drivel when he became the primary antagonist of Portal 2.
Chell is also very smart and quick to adapt. Many of the testing chambers Chell was subjected to were difficult to figure out logically, and if she couldn't figure them out, she would have likely died (due to the acidic floors). She is easily able to use the Portal gun to her advantage, using it against the one who gave it to her, GLaDOS. She is also able to use the gels Cave Johnson invented to her advantage, using them to defeat Wheatley.
Weaknesses: Chell is very stubborn and hard to trust others. She will trust someone if it's otherwise a life or death situation (as explained before), but otherwise she is going to shut others out and not buy anything they say. She will not speak easily either, due to having nasty robots as her only interaction for a long time. She may write to herself, but it's unlikely she will make many voice or text posts on her journal. If she does, they will likely be very concise.
Chell is also in survival mode most of the time. She will probably assume most people are out to get her, and will most likely attempt to find whoever trapped her in Luceti, kill them, and attempt to escape. While this is obviously a much better situation than being trapped in the Aperture Science labs, she's still not free, and that annoys her. So, she's not going to easily settle down. She's going to fight. This is a weakness because it's another reason why she will have a ton of difficulty connecting to others.
Chell may also make a wrong decision when under pressure. She hadn't considered the ramifications of putting Wheatley in charge of the Labs in lieu of GLaDOS. This was partially because she did not know that Wheatley was designed specifically to be an idiot who feeds GLaDOS useless information, and of course partially because she didn't want a murderous AI in charge of a facility. She thought she could escape easier with Wheatley in charge, but it made things worse. So, in a life or death situation, it's very possible Chell could make the wrong decision under pressure without thinking.
This part is obvious, but Chell is not going to trust AI at all. Any robots she may come across in Luceti she will immediately dislike. The only way she'd trust one is in a life or death situation, but otherwise she is a total Space Racist.
