PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.
The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.
Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Mobius One, the player character of Ace Combat 04, is the one who shot down and killed Yellow 4 and eventually Yellow 13. However, despite this Thirteen shows no ill-will towards his rival and is actually respectful of him and his accomplishments.
Yellow 13 will be remembering his previous two years in Luceti, including the drafts, experiments, development, and his CR, especially with Litchi Faye-Ling.
Personality: Yellow 13 is, at heart, a kind, honorable man and consummate soldier. Despite being an antagonist for the player, Yellow 13 is one of the most sympathetic characters in the entire Ace Combat series. He is generally quiet and reserved, but is not antagonistic. He, as the narrator of Ace Combat 04 puts it, exudes an air of invincibility and calm at all times. Displaying a love of music, he is constantly seen in the local bar strumming his acoustic guitar while surrounded by his squadronmates. Thirteen is shown to have a compassionate streak, especially for those he's grown to care about, and has a fondness for dogs.
Thirteen's compassion is most obviously with this interactions with the narrator, an unnamed boy whose parents died early in the war. The narrator lived in San Salvacion, a city belonging to USEA before the war. Shortly after the Erusian invasion, the boy met Yellow 13 in a local bar. Yellow 13 and the narrator quickly formed a bond of friendship, and the narrator found himself living like a member of Yellow Squadron. But perhaps his greatest display of compassion is when Thirteen discovers who planted a bomb on his squadron’s runaway, resulting in damage to several aircraft. The culprit is the daughter of the barkeeper, a person both Thirteen and the Narrator considered a friend. He releases her, rather than turn her in. Surprisingly, the barkeep's daughter's actions ultimately left him more emotionally hurt than outright enranged.
As a soldier, Yellow 13 is a dedicated and skilled fighter pilot. With over 63 confirmed kills to his name, he is the Erusian Ace of Aces. However, despite this impressive kill count, his real pride was that he never lost a wingman in combat until Yellow 4’s death at the hands of Mobius One. Yellow 13 placed the lives of his pilots above his own personal glory at all times, preferring the value of teamwork and wolfpack tactics in bringing Yellow Squadron success over more reckless or risky ones. In a sense, Thirteen was a protector of his wingmates, all the while being a lethal adversary for all who opposed Yellow Squadron. His skill and knowledge of air combat, and the maintenence and performance of modern fighter aircraft are exceptional, to the point of easily being able to identify fuel quality and how it affected Yellow Squadron aircraft.
That said, Thirteen relished the idea of finding a worthy opponent in the skies. He pitied the less skilled pilots he defeated and killed, and longed to find his equal. Thirteen was quoted that if he "were to be defeated at the hands of an equally skilled pilot, he would have no regrets about his death." He eventually got his wish, when he was shot down by Mobius One over the skies of Farbanti in the closing days of the war.
Thirteen's sense of honor extended beyond his duties in the cockpit as well. He was a staunch believer in the rules of honorable combat, calling the bomb that damaged their runway and aircraft an act of cowardly sabotage meant to rob them of their wings on the ground. He also seethed with a silent rage when the Erusian army, his own side, set up anti-aircraft positions on the roof of San Salvacion's hospital. This anger was plainly evident to anyone who knew him, and he was frustrated that he could do nothing to change the tactics of the Erusian armed forces when the tide was quickly turning against them.
Ultimately, Yellow 13 and Yellow Squadron as a whole are shown to be a tragic casualty of war. Despite being the antagonist squadron for the game, they are always portrayed as human, and in fact, noble. But Thirteen perhaps best represents the tragedy of real warfare: an example of a good man who loses everything, all in the line of duty to a country.
Strengths:
Physical: Yellow 13 is a Federal Erusian Air Force pilot. As such, he was subjected to rigorous physical training to allow his body to withstand tremendous G-forces when in flight. So, he’s effectively a man in his prime in good physical condition. He has also received extensive combat training as part of the Federal Erusian Air Force, which includes Escape and Evasion, Survival, and basic ground combat.
He is also one of the best fighter aces in the history of the Strangereal world, so it is needless to say that his skill in operating aircraft (particularly his signature Su-37 Terminator) is virtually unparrelled. His kill count exceeded at least 63, which when placed into comparison with modern Earth makes him something close to superhuman behind the stick.
Mental: Yellow 13 shows a great attention to detail, especially when it comes to maintaining his Su-37. He is capable of noticing the effects of fuel quality and replacement parts on its performance. Additionally, he has extensive knowledge of aeronautics and aircraft of his era. Like any good aviator, he has extensive knowledge of the mechanics, mathematics, physics, and history of flight, though this applies only to Strangereal's history of flight. In addition, he is very in control of his own mind, meaning he remains capable of making decisions in the heat of combat. This control of his more passionate side is probably what gives him his air of invincibility.
Emotional: A stoic soldier, trained to keep his emotions in check. Though he is able to do at will, he still retains his humanity. Yellow 13 is difficult to defeat psychologically as far as normal people go.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Yellow 13 is a normal human, and with it comes all of the weaknesses associated. He is easily hurt or killed by comparison to many of Luceti's supernaturally powered individuals.
Mental: Very few, though he comes from a realistic world. Concepts such as magic and highly advanced science were utterly foreign to him, prior to his previous foray into Luceti. His calmness may also come off as intimidating to others who are not as strong willed, so some might see him as arrogant before getting to know him.
Emotional: Like anyone, he is prone to bouts of depression when someone he cares about is killed. The death of his first wingmate, Yellow 4, hit him particularly hard. He doesn’t take betrayal well either. The betrayal of the barkeep’s daughter and the narrator calling him a fascist out of the heat of the moment wounded Thirteen deeply. Though he never displays such melancholy to the public, it affects him silently.
