Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Strengths: Physically Natsuno is a Shiki, which puts him way above normal fighting abilities a fifteen year old boy would have.

To explain what Shiki are specifically - the easiest way to say it would just be to say they're this series' brand of vampires/the undead. If you get your blood sucked by a Shiki multiple nights (four days) in a row until you die from anemia, you have a 50% chance to come back to life as a Shiki as well. Within that 50% there's a 45% chance that you will come back as the 'vampire' kind of Shiki, which is practically a lot like the classic idea of vampires: pale skin, red eyes, can't go into the sun, can be killed with a stake through the heart, etc. But there's a 5% chance that you will be revived as the special 'werewolf' kind of Shiki, which is very rare since there are only around three of these kind of Shiki in all of Japan, and Natsuno would belong to the latter kind of Shiki. Werewolf kind of Shiki can walk around in daylight just fine, and technically they are not entirely dead since they still have a pulse - Tatsumi explains to Natsuno that they technically never died, their blood just changed to match a Shiki's. They are afraid of crosses and the like (holy symbols, etc.) the way vampire Shiki are though but a stake through the heart won't kill them - werewolf Shiki (and regular Shiki, although less so) have very high pain tolerances and regenerative abilities. The only way to kill a werewolf Shiki would be to deliver some very powerful blow to their head (like shooting it with a shotgun or just cutting it off). Shiki can see in the dark and can use hypnosis on their victims (although Natsuno would most likely never use the latter). He needs to feed on blood to access his full potential with heightened fighting abilities/strength and heightened senses, but werewolf Shiki can also just survive on regular food and have those abilities, just much more diminished than they would be if they actually drank human blood. Natsuno would - under most circumstances - refuse to drink human blood, so he would not have access to his full potential. A downside to being a Shiki is that they can't enter any kind of home unless they're explicitly invited to it.

Mentally Natsuno is fairly smart, enough to work against a giant group of Shiki and at least somewhat outmanoeuvre them. He's also pretty brave - talking straight to his enemy, Tatsumi, doesn't even really seem to faze him since he's just as aloof as usual. He doesn't care about even sacrificing his own life for his goals, so his actions could often be seen as courageous.

Emotionally Natsuno hardly ever seems to lose his cool. It takes an extreme situation for him to really lose his cool - like Shiki popping up in his room randomly before he even really knew about their existence, but even then he tries to keep thinking rationally and try to take them out with a wrench instead. But under regular circumstances and even some less-than-regular circumstances (talking to the enemy, being about to sacrifice his own life by blowing himself up) he seems just as aloof and cold as always.

Weaknesses: Physically there's not much to say about Natsuno's weaknesses - his abilities as a Shiki actually make him fairly strong, after all. The downsides that could be named is that he's still not at full werewolf Shiki potential, since he refuses to drink the blood of humans, so Tatsumi is still stronger than him (and it shows in the fights they have in the series). Another downside to being a Shiki is that he can't enter anyone's home unless he's invited to do so.

Mentally it could be said Natsuno is just much too indifferent about everything. It takes a lot to get the boy to care about something, and even then he doesn't really show it on the outside. He doesn't even care about his own life anymore - especially now he's one of the Shiki - so it can be said he doesn't even really enjoy living anymore. This is what causes his aloof attitude about everything. It's very difficult to make him care about anything too, and that includes people. You really need to push and push to make some sort of effort to become friends with him, so it would be more likely for people to just dislike him instead (like Masao, one of the villagers, does).

Emotionally Natsuno is also almost never seen happy - the closest he comes to it is a few things with Tohru, but even that doesn't really seem happy outwardly as much as it seems just a little more content than his usual grumpiness. Even if he does feel happiness at something, he wouldn't show it on the outside. In fact, he's generally bad at outwardly showing any emotion other than being bothered/annoyed or just being indifferent, making him seem like he has the emotional capacity equivalent to a rock.
