This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
Jin Uzuki | Reserved 2/?
Personality:
Jin Uzuki is calm and reserved. While he may display emotion, he will only very rarely discuss his feelings and any small outbursts of emotion he might have such as anger is short-lived. Even when having his younger sister, Shion fling “If you had only been there sooner, they’d still be…” at him, he said nothing and kept his calm, though was clearly pained by the comment. When Jr. asked him if he and Shion would be okay, he maintained that calm, was even a bit light (considering the situation) and brushed it aside with a simple “We’re still brother and sister after all”.
His closed nature prevents him from really getting close to anyone. He never really forms any bonds with anyone else in the party even after two games worth of time and a year in between. He gets along with everyone and is generally amiable, but he doesn’t form any close bonds. Most importantly to him, he still cannot let himself get close to Shion, being afraid of rejection and pained by his own inability to help her. This tendency has caused him problems in the past. It’s never told in detail, but at one point he’d had a relationship with Pellegri. Their relationship fell apart due at least in part in their inability to understand one another’s needs. Margulis also states that Jin pushes away the only ones who understood him. Whether or not this is actually true (Margulis not being an entirely trustworthy source), is unknown, but given Jin’s nature and the rift that formed between him and Margulis and Pellegri, this may be true in part.
While he may be emotionally distant at times, he is still friendly and amiable, sometimes even a tease. He’s happy to welcome Jr. and chaos to his home as well when he and Shion meet again. He’ll also sometimes add in a light note to reassure others, even in serious situations such as his leaving at the end of Xenosaga 3 when they all know he’s going to his death: “Besides, as a scholar, I have an interest in this special land they call Lost Jerusalem.”
Family and filial duty is important to Jin. During the Miltian Conflict 14 years in the past, he secretly worked with his father to find information and the cause of the conflict. After sustaining a serious injury from Margulis, he still moved on, on his own, instead of joining with Chaos and Canaan, to rescue his family. He was too late to save his parents, but was in time to rescue Shion. Their parents are dead, but Jin maintains their graves (despite them being empty) and regularly encourages Shion to visit home and to pay her respects to their graves despite her many adamant refusals. He also apologises for any trouble Shion may have caused for the party. There are times he seems to lose patience with her, but he cares about Shion deeply right to the bitter end. When they bid each other their final farewell before he leaves to fight the Gnosis, it is for her well being that he cares. He doesn’t want her to continue believing that she was a terrible sister and asks Allen to watch over her for him.
Jin is stubborn. When he sets his mind on something, he’s unlikely to change it. He’d had a doctor’s office, but seeing little point in it, he gave it up after six months to follow his passion for books with a used bookshop and couldn’t be convinced to give it up. He was also very determined in his efforts to get Shion to come home once in a while.
Jin likes peace and quiet and is very thoughtful. His home reflects that and he even ponders on it in his last moments before death. He takes the final moments before he dies to ponder on having desired quiet, but now longing for ‘those chaotic days’ of the past. The fact that he spends those last moments before dying thinking on it shows his thoughtful nature. He also tends to have an almost analytical approach to his feelings the few times that he does talk about it. He will provide reasons for the ways he feels or why he’s done what he’s done. For example, in his talk with chaos, he says he’s afraid and why he is. He also notices that he’s more easily able to talk to chaos and feels as though chaos is older than he looks. He senses that chaos may not be as he appears.
Jin is a person who gets things done even at personal risk, is often the person to react in a situation and often takes a commanding role (perhaps influenced by his time as Captain in the Federation’s Special Intelligence Division). When the party is fleeing Zarathustra, Shion wants to go back to help KOS MOS defend chaos and Nephilim from the Gnosis, but Jin knows they have to get out and keeps them going. However, he knew that KOS MOS would need help and goes back himself once the others are safe even knowing he was likely going to his death. In a past event when Shion collapses after first meeting Kevin again, Jin is the one to order KOS MOS to get her out. He’s also the first, with Jr., to step forward to fight Kevin and even possibly Shion when she tries to leave the others to go with Kevin.
Jin has an interest in antiquated items and scholarly pursuits. Books are obsolete in his time, and only matter to some collectors, but he owns a used bookshop, in part, just to serve his own interests. His home is also made of wood, which is very rare during that time, based on Jr.’s excited reaction on seeing it.
Jin Uzuki | Reserved 3/3
Sword Play Jin is highly skilled with a katana and agile in battle as witnessed in his two fights with Margulis in Xenosaga 2.
Ether Jin doesn’t use it often but he does have skill in using ether skills, with a focus on ice. When he does use it, it seems quite powerful, again as witnessed in his battles with Margulis.
Strong Will Jin is able to remain calm and composed even in difficult circumstances. He holds to his duties and goals through injury – he moved onto to go rescue Shion during the Miltian conflict despite his injury – or through fear as seen at the end of Xenosaga 3 when he goes back to help KOS MOS fight the gnosis even after admitting to himself that he is terrified. He knows what he must do and will do it no matter the cost to himself.
Intelligence Jin has an interest in scholarly pursuits, having a passion for books and an interest in history. He tends to very thoughtful in everything he says and does and even in regards to his own feelings such as when he spoke with chaos about his fears for his relationship with Shion.
He also uses his intellect to his advantage in combat. He wasn’t able to match Margulis’s skill with the sword in their first battle, but was able to use his ether skills and the environment to his advantage causing the ground beneath Margulis to collapse leading to his fall.
Weaknesses:
Only Human Jin may be skilled, but he is still only human and subject to normal injuries as well as being killed.
Emotionally Closed Jin will seldom discuss his feelings. The only time he has really talked about himself was with chaos and that felt odd even to him. This caused a problem for his already unstable relationship with Shion. If he had been able to talk to her and let himself get closer to her, they might have been to fix their relationship before the end and have spent more time together.
This may have also played a role in his break up with Pellegri, though their relationship wasn’t well discussed in game, but Margulis’s comment that he pushed away the ones who understood him contributes to that theory.
Self Blame At least when it comes to family, Jin does not give himself a break. He solely blames himself for his fractured relationship with Shion, blaming himself for not being there when she needed him most, but in reality they both share the blame for their poor relationship. He also blames himself and calls himself pathetic for not being able to do anything to help Shion with her illness and after she tries to leave with Kevin.

First Person:
What…is this? Where am I? Have I come to Lost Jerusalem? I did not expect to see it, not like this. Perhaps there truly is an afterlife. And yet, this all feels…real, somehow, as though I have only woken up from a sleep. Strange, I can feel my heart beat, and…ah! Pain? It seems a poor trick to still suffer such physical things. Perhaps, this is exactly what it seems and I am alive.
What is causing this? …Wings? Perhaps the tales of angels are indeed true, but something…isn’t right. Yes, I’m not going to find answers sitting here. It is time to move on and see what this place truly is.
Third Person: The scent of fresh air, trees. Jin slowly opened his eyes and surveyed his surroundings from his sitting position against a tree. He appeared to be in a forest. He frowned. He had not expected to see anything – he had not expected to awaken like this after the darkness fell and his life ended, or so he thought. His injuries had been fatal; he’d felt his life bleed away, and yet here he was, awake, aware.
He looked down expecting to see blood. There was nothing. Where there should have been a gaping hole there was only smooth skin. He was also missing his clothing and in a way, more distressingly, his katana. Yet, if he was dead and this was sort some sort of afterlife, he shouldn’t have need of either. On the other hand, he was not expecting death to come with so much feeling. He could feel the prickle of grass and the bark of the tree at his back, and…he let loose a hiss of pain. There was a throbbing pain at his back. Was it from the battle – the time he’d been knocked back in the ES, or after? He tentatively reached a hand back and to his surprise felt something soft and feathery. Wings. He had wings. That lent some credence to his afterlife theory, but something just didn’t seem right.
He leaned forward hoping to take the pressure off his aching back and noticed a book lying on the ground. “So the mystery grows,” he murmured as he picked it up and opened it. “How odd. It seems a mixture of a traditional book and technology.” He gave a small chuckle. “Even Shion might approve this book.” His smile faded as he felt a pang. Shion. He’d left her. He knew it was likely that he wouldn’t return, but now... Now he didn’t know what to think. If he was alive, somehow, then where was he? Would there be a chance of finding her after all? No, such thoughts could come later. For now, he needed to find answers and understanding. He would rest here for a time, and study this book before moving out.
