A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Strengths: Physically Hazama is a force to be reckoned with. In several of the canon storylines with the main characters he could be hit with an instant kill and yet still be able to get up after. He's shown to be able to beat most of the characters into the ground, but he does acknowledge (albeit somewhat grudgingly) that Rachel Alucard is able to keep up with him. In battle he wields several butterfly knives and the Nox Nyctores Ouroboros, which allows him to rapidly close the distance between himself and his opponents in a matter of seconds as well as use it to reel them in.

In his true form he is able to manipulate and erase memories as he sees fit, and possess others; this explains why Jin Kisaragi and Ragna the Bloodedge were at each other's throats. Not only because of the influence from Yukianesa, Jin's Nox Nyctores, but because Hazama had made it seem like Jin was the one who had committed all these atrocities. He wastes no time in using this to his advantage and in this manner was able to coerce Tsubaki Yayoi to his side and pit her against Noel Vermillion and co.

Remarkably enough, he is the one who is the creator of the Azure Grimoire and though it is now in the hands of Ragna the Bloodedge, he created a mock grimoire for himself that is still strong enough to rival the original.

Mentally, Hazama is rather adept at covering up his true motives to the point where only those who have known him in the past are the only ones who know he's up to no good. Through this he was able to infiltrate the NOL and operate relatively quietly until the time came for the events of Continuum Shift to unfold. Even now he still retains a polite demeanor to his fellow NOL officers and a perpetually smiling face which conceals his true nature underneath.

Weaknesses: In one of the gag endings (and which seems to hold some merit of truth, oddly enough) it's shown that Hazama is severely allergic to cats. The canonical basis for this is still pretty vague, but whenever he encounters either Jubei, Taokaka or Kokonoe (who all are part or have some bit of feline traits to them) he always remarks on the "smell" that they have. This even stretches to characters who have come into contact with either of those mentioned above.

It is revealed that, because Hazama is a ghost, his ties to the world are kept strong by an Observer, which is basically an omniscient presence capable of seeing all the possibilities the timeloops reveal throughout the story of Blazblue. Think of them as gods, however they cannot interfere or take action in most situations and must do as their title dictates. If Hazama's Observer is destroyed, there is nothing binding him to the world except for Ragna's hatred. Even then, if Ragna's hatred were to fade in some form or another, Hazama too would disappear since there would be nothing binding him to the world. So, in essence, he depends on that hatred to keep himself alive.

Continuing from his being a ghost, the only way for Hazama to appear in his ghost form is if his body is made either inaccessible or if he is run out of it via being injured or killed. At any time while he is out of his body (if it is made inaccessible) he has no way of defending it should anyone try to harm it. Relius Clover had to "kill" him in order to get him out of his body to infiltrate Takamagahara.

Despite creating the Azure Grimoire, it's evident that Hazama had some difficulty controlling the Black Beast, a subject which proves sore for him whenever it's brought up. In the past he ended up destroying it with the rest of the Six Heroes in his wish to quell the mistake he had made, and whenever the Black Beast is mentioned he always approaches it with no small measure of hostility and bitterness. When Noel Vermillion questioned him as to the nature of the Black Beast and asked if he would revive it, he openly laughed at her and sarcastically asked her why he would want a failed experiment like that.

Mentally, Hazama is more than a little unstable and is usually prone to bouts of laughter, which can be seen in most if not all of his interactions with the characters throughout the storyline. Exploding into fits of rage when things don't quite go his way, he's quick to act first and think later unless ordered to calm down (which, even then, takes a moment or two for him to really obey, even when it's an order from Saya herself). While he's usually fairly good at hiding his annoyance, there are times when even he can't reign in his irritation or hatred at a situation gone wrong and goes nuts.
