Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

FANDOM CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Misuzu Kamio || AIR || reserved

[personal profile] liberatedliberator 2012-01-07 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
History: here
Over 1,000 years ago, there lived a race called the "winged maidens." They were persecuted by the regular humans, kept locked up in reinforced cages and never allowed to see the sunlight they so were inclined to fly in. A young girl named Kanna was the last of one. She grew weary of her cage, and wished so dearly to see her mother. A chance occurrence let her break free, and she traveled for several weeks to see her mother, with a bodyguard and nursemaid. When she arrived at her mother's own prison, however, she was shocked to see her own mother in a state of peril. Soon after, Kanna's mother died. Kanna and her group was eventually hunted down, and while Kanna herself tried to take off and fly away, she was shot down by cursed arrows, dying on the ground in the arms of her companions.

Through the centuries, Kanna's soul reincarnated countless times, each of her incarnations affected by the curses placed on her original soul by her captors, that she would never be able to find love of any kind. On top of that, the soul of a winged maiden was too large and powerful for a human body--all are fated to die young. Misuzu Kamio was the last incarnation of the winged maidens, and unfortunately both the curse and the physical ailments from her soul did not skip her.

From a young age, Misuzu's "mysterious illness" plagued her in many ways. Her own mother died very young, and she was sent out to live with her Aunt Haruko, in the beachside town of Kami.

Personality:
What one first tends to notice about Misuzu is her smile. That being her cheerfulness. Despite suffering from a life-threatening illness and millennium-old curse, she almost always is smiling. She is by default very cheerful and optimistic, greatly clashing with the knowledge of her constantly being sick and near-death. Perhaps it was the illness itself that made her optimistic, but it shines through regardless. It's only around the series' protagonist, Yukito, that she is outgoing, however. Around her other classmates, she tends to be shy and withdrawn, from the teasing and isolation she previously endured, and she often has to give herself pep talks just to allow herself to speak up to them. It doesn't stop her, however, from deeply wanting to have many friends.

What's not immediately apparent, though, is that Misuzu is extremely childish. Due to her curse, she tends to cry when she thinks she's made a friend, causing her to be somewhat socially inept. She doesn't exactly know a lot of social standards, making her very awkward to interact with for others of her age group. She tends to pout and hold things in rather than speaking about her problems. Misuzu tends to have an extremely short attention span, following after "interesting" things regardless of what had been happening before. She's fond of uttering the nonsensical word "gao", meant to be the roar of a dinosaur, when upset, despite Haruko's constant scolding to not to. Dinosaurs seem to be her favorite in general--she has pajamas printed with them, has several stuffed animals of them littering her bed, and generally seems to take solace in them when she is upset.

And Misuzu is clumsy. Yes, this is big enough of a trait to count. She's constantly tripping over her own two feet, and seemingly gliding around, performing twirls and spinning. As sickly as she is, as much time as she tends to spend in bed, she can manage to be quite light on her feet (perhaps the winged maiden influence).

Misuzu Kamio is a dreamer. She talks about her dinosaurs as though they are gods of another realm, figures she worships but will never meet. Although her merchandise tends to make them cute and cuddly, she does recognize how fearsome they are, and that influences her view of them like elegant beasts. Her love of dinosaurs seem to clash with her love of the sky, which is just as great. Perhaps it is the influence of her winged maiden incarnation, but Misuzu's dream is to fly. Not in an airplane, no--she wants wings. To fly away like a bird. And despite it being an impossible dream (seemingly), she does not give up.

At the end of the series, though, she changes. Only a minute bit, but it's noticeable. she grows to accept Haruko as her true mother, and for that, several of her issues dissolve. Kanna's desire to reunite with her own mother is finally resolved, with Misuzu finding her own. And with loving Haruko as her mother, Misuzu was finally able to "find love of [some] kind". Her heart grows peaceful and less frantic. Snd for the first time in 1,000 years, Misuzu can rest.
