Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. You may link to threads on the
trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered. HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Re: Alex Benedetto / GANGSTA.
As for her relationships with her fellow roommates, Alex is on good terms with Worick and appears much more closer to him than with Nicolas. Despite Worick's lackadaisical and flirtatious nature with her, Alex knows that it's a part of the way the man is, and she can't help but get a small laugh out of it all. Just as she is comforting and kind towards Worick, the man reciprocates his feelings towards Alex and the two appear as good (but still new) friends.
Nicolas, on the other hand, is a bit of a different story... He was the one that suggested to kill her the first time they met, after all... But despite all this, Alex doesn't bear any sort of animosity towards the man, even making an effort to communicate to him in sign language because of his deafness. And although Nicolas is typically aloof and brash towards Alex's attempts of communicating with him, he eventually shows a more concerned side of himself to her and very slightly breaks down his wall that he had built up. From what has been revealed so far, Alex has begun to harbor some romantic feelings and admiration towards Nicolas, and the Benriya has even displayed some kindness and worry for her, in his own way of course... But looking at it more simply, it's evident that Alex does respect and admire Nicolas, while the deaf man is beginning to act less aloof and brash towards her.
(The author of GANGSTA., Kohsuke, has used the Wheel of Fortune tarot to symbolize Alex. Although the meanings for tarot cards are defined by the individual reader, I see it as describing her as a woman bound by fate but also with the potential to change that fate and avert crisis. It also shows that she is guided by the whims and actions of others but is not exactly restricted by them. I've done tarot readings with the Thoth deck for several years now, so yeah...)
Strengths:
Physical: To put it short and sweet, Alex isn't really a fighter. At all. Sure she's got something of a good swing with something like a crowbar or a plank of wood, but Alex is in no way powerful. Her strength is just the same as any other 24 year old woman out there. But if there's one thing she's good at it, it's using sex as a weapon. You can say she's good at creating a "distraction" for the bad guys while Nicolas or Worick sneak behind them to deliver a quick (and painful) death.
Mental: Although Alex's mental prowess can be considered average or nothing too special, she does still have a very good head on her shoulders and a good sense of intuition. Her ability to adapt is quite good, as she was able to adjust to her lifestyle with Benriya quite easily, despite a few little bumps. She is a bit curious but also knows when to use caution against that curiosity. Alex is also relatively used to seeing some pretty bloody or gory sights, making her not the most squeamish person with a lot of things.
Emotional: She's kind, caring, and acts like a big sister or a mother to some people. Put all of these together, and Alex is shown to have a very good heart, making her a quite amiable person despite her appearance.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Because Alex's strength isn't something that's exactly threatening to someone, it's evident that she wouldn't be able to last long in a fight if she was left without any sort of resource to use to help her escape or hide. But despite her lack of pure strength, she does have courage to her.
Mental: Although Alex is pretty well-balanced both intuitively and logically, her tendency to think more intuitively and on instinct may cause her to overlook certain details about things. She may not be the most book-smart gal around, but she sure knows how to handle her way around the streets.
Emotional: Here's where Alex's greatest weakness comes to play. Even though she's a kind, caring, and seemingly sane individual, the emotional, mental, and physical damages that Alex had been affected by in the past from living with Barry have evidently scarred her. Her occasional bouts of hallucinating and seeing the bloody figure of her dead pimp puts the woman into a state of panic and desperation, and she is left hurriedly searching for her small container of tranquilizing pills to dispel the visions. She is also quite sensitive at times (shown by her soft-spoken attitude towards people) and can become down if treated with a particular rudeness.

First Person:
"Everything looks so beautiful here, but... I know it's not right. I... I shouldn't be here. But I don't even have a clue of how to get out of this place. All of these experiments... These things that keep happening to everyone... Can't they all just stop?"
"I wish those two were here right now. Hm... I wonder what they'd tell me to do in something like this? Hah, Worick would probably just tell me to show a little skin to get out, and Nicolas... well... Nicolas would probably grunt at me like he always does. But, I think... I think the only thing I can do right now is just be strong. As long as I'm clinging to that hope of going back, something's just got to happen. ...That's all I can go with for now, at least."
Third Person:
It was all just a false paradise, she knew that much. From the moment that she arrived into the world that she had learned to be called "Luceti", Alex knew that things weren't as they seemed. Of course, she had already been quite flustered in being suddenly whisked away when right in the middle of running some errands in the chaotic city of Ergastulum. All of the oranges and the bottles of Perrier she had bought... Gone. They weren't in her arms in those brown paper bags when she had arrived, so Alex assumed that they must have fallen right on the ground in the alleyway and left there until an unknown amount of time. Ah, it was almost a shame...
And there she was, out by herself in the forest and nearly entering a state of panic. If the experiments weren't enough to frighten her, the former prostitute heard the sounds of a familiar man laughing and calling her name, all while she tried to remove the cap to a small container of pills. "Alex... Alex..." The voice called, echoing through the woman's ears. "ALEX!" The sudden shout had almost caused the woman to let out a scream, but she knew better than that. Her shaking hands continued to attempt to open the container, and the voice did not cease its speaking. "You're nothing but a whore, ya know that? You should've been dead a long time ago, if it wasn't fer me. Heh... Just you wait an' see. Ol' Barry will come and take good care of ya, jus' like those guys you made money off of. I just can't wait to see yer fa-"
"SHUT UP!" A tearful yell was heard from Alex's voice, answering back the hallucination.
But even though she was on the verge of giving up right then and there, the woman knew it all would have been for nothing in the end. Her time with those two men that she had almost begun to felt like she could depend on would have been for nothing. Her attempts to bring herself together and move forward from the past and look to the future would have been for nothing. She was not going to lose; not yet. With the cap of the pill bottle removed, Alex removed two of the tranquilizer pills and swallowed them without any water. There was a heavy exhalation of breath from the woman, and her eyes began to be covered with a glaze as they slowly closed. A few moments later, she was asleep at the foot of a tree, and the woman looked to be in a state of peace and calm.

Despite her rather provocative way of dressing along with her model-like figure, Alex surprises people with bits of shyness and compassion displayed to others. Out of the three main characters, Alex can be considered the least reckless, usually having a good sense of intuition and reasoning. And although her general personality is shown as someone quiet, Alex is also seen as a woman with an inner strength inside of her and a stubbornness that shows how determined she is to meet certain goals.

*** When it comes to likes and dislikes, Alex has a relatively good tolerance for most things. She seems to have a fondness for things like oranges and Perrier and is quite a good cook to boot. And although she has had some prior experience with sign language before being a part of Benriya, her limited interactions with Nicolas have inspired her to learn sign language so that she can (hopefully) communicate with him better. Not so oddly enough, Alex is quite tolerant of having herself being insulted, but she will quickly come to the defense if someone else is a target. This can cause her to be a bit impulsive at times, like when she had defended a little girl from a group of thugs by swinging at them with a piece of wood. Her sacrificial nature appears to be something that she has just inherently had all her life.
Her thought pattern is one that is typically both calm and curious. Living with Benriya, Alex is exposed to a somewhat familiar yet foreign part of Ergastulum, eyes always glancing at the next, new sight. She is rather complacent and agreeing when approached by people, if only a bit shy and nervous at first. At the same time, she knows when to put on an act around people that tend to be a bit more dangerous, using her sex appeal as a sort of defense against those people. And, of course, when she goes into her episodes of seeing Barry's phantom, Alex becomes extremely nervous and vulnerable. Her speech is nonsensical and barely audible, and tears will quickly well up in her eyes. If she somehow doesn't have access to the tranquilizing pills that she keeps with her most of the time, there's a good chance that Alex will faint from the panic and sudden exhaustion that she is overcome with. As much as Alex insists that she's fine, it's obvious that she's not the greatest at handling herself when she is completely alone without anyone else around. ***
