Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. You may link to threads on the
trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered. HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

She was tired, exhausted even, this place was odd, the bed wasn't hers and most of all Lymsleia usually slept on her back. Tossing and turning, rolling from one side to the other, she let out a muted and irritated grunt every time she accidentally rolled on one of the new wings before giving up and laying on her stomach with her face in the pillow. Letting out a muffled sigh she looked up.
"It isn't even like I can fly with them, or they're pretty or anything. This is so annoying. I JUST WANT TO SLEEP!"
Sitting up and flailing for a bit, and tossing her sheet over she lets out another irritated sigh and hops out of bed to pick it up. Looking around the room as she does.
"Uncomfortable bed, I can't sleep right and everything else is a mess here!"
Grumbling a bit more she flops back on the bed tossing the blanket over her, burying her head in the pillow again she mutters a few more things that may be considered a bit unladylike before rolling on her side and staring at the wall with all the fury of an irate child.
"Why wings that don't work? What sort of rune does that? What sort of magic? I mean is there a point? Is there some weird bird rune somewhere? No, this place doesn't even use proper rune magic it's something else. Aargh!"
Pulling the pillow over her head again she fumes silently for a few minutes, before rolling on her back and letting out a yelp again and getting out of bed.
"FINE! I WASN'T TIRED ANYWAYS!"
Grumbling she gets dressed and storms outside, sitting by the door and looking up at the sky.
"A nice fluffy bed. A nice fluffy bed where I can sleep right. Right with a glass of water next to my bed. And maybe a nice story before bed. No, not the story, I'm not a kid anymore."
She yawns and shakes her head, leaning against the wall a bit and moments later her eyes close, curling up in the fetal position outside, finally falling asleep.

Lym grew up trying to follow in the image of her mother. The previous queen who not only led a war against the invading nation or Armes from the front, but also managed to severely hamper the gladiator/slave caste.
Arshtat, her mother, was a decisive ruler, who was loved by her people for victory over the Armes army in the war 8 years ago. She was thought to be wise, and knew how to manage resources. She was also known for knowing how to delegate people to fill jobs that she herself couldn't do. Arshtat was a powerful enough rune magic user to wear and control the Sun rune, at least for a while and Lym herself doesn't know about Arshtat losing control of the rune.
2. What’s your opinion on your family, or how you were raised?
Lym loved her family a great deal. She viewed her mother as the ideal queen, and her father as what a Queen's Knight should be. When she was young she looked down at her brother because he was unable to ever be Queen, but as she grew older she grew incredibly close to him and abandoned that view. That being said she thought the man who won the Queen's Games and she was married to to be a small minded, slimy, manipulative schemer and was not upset at all when he died at her brother's hands.
Lym was raised to be the next queen. She was schooled in politics and how to read other people, as well as on diplomacy and how to manage human resources. She was kind of jealous of her brother being able to study how to survive outside the palace, but understood that she was destined to be the next queen since she was the only girl and had no cousins.
3. If there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?
Lym actually changed the way that her government was organized to give more power to the people and to try to phase out the power of the noble houses who's squabbling tended to be the largest drag of social resources. She gave every town, human, dwarf and badger a seat on the government's new parliament and an equal say to give the direction to Falenas.
4. If you could be reborn as someone else, who would you be? Why?
Lym isn't so much looking to be reborn someone else, but sometimes she wishes she was born in a world where the Godwins didn't exist. Without the Godwins, her mother never would have had to wear the sun rune which eventually devoured her soul. Without the Godwins no one would have ever orchestrated the cheating at the Queen's games to end up with Gizel as her fiancé, and ultimately the assassination of her mother and father never would have happened. She wouldn't have been a puppet Queen for almost a year and after that, she would have had time to actually learn the trade as opposed to be thrust into it at the age of 11.
5. Describe the happiest and saddest moments of your life.
The happiest moment of her life was when her brother rescued her from the Godwins by killing her husband and chasing them out of the Sun Palace. She was reunited with her brother and no longer a pawn for a government who's only purpose seemed to be controlling the Sun Rune for the reason of world domination.
The saddest moment in her life was shortly after the realization of what happened on the night the Godwin assassins killed her mother and father and chased her brother away as a criminal. This was multiplied by the fact that the night started with her official engagement to a man that she thought was slimy and manipulative through events of cheating that even she could see.

Lym is incredibly stubborn when she thinks she is right, even when she isn't, if she believes she is. While she loves her brother very much IF he teases her and doesn't agree with her enough even after the campaign she'll think that it isn't wise for him to remain in the kingdom despite his freeing it. That being said, most of her ideas aren't terrible so if he goes along with it, it reinforces her love for him.

Lym has also become able to sum up a person's skills by watching them with a fair amount of accuracy. While sometimes she does get distracted by outward appearances, she quickly learns what tasks minions can't do and adheres to the Overlord rule of reassigning them to tasks that they are capable of doing instead of continually sending them to beat their head against a wall, or at least understands the reverse as shown in the Queen's campaign where she works up the two Queen's knights loyal to the Godwin faction and sends them to where they can be contained, but keeps the one who cares more about her and the country close to herself.
Lym also is fairly empathetic to her people and quickly learns that some tactics do not work at all. she constantly berates the Godwins when their brutal tactics cause them to lose ground. She quickly recognizes the damage that allying with the factions of the Armes nation that the Godwin's ally with causes to the people and also recognizes the wisdom in taking the council of the Armes general that allies with her brother gives, simply reviewing the tactics they use.
Weaknesses: Lym wears her heart on her sleeve. While she can bend the truth she can't lie about her emotions and you always know exactly where you stand with her. She can't hide her contempt for people, she can't keep her enthusiasm for her brother in check, she doesn't have the social graces to keep from calling someone a hussy if she thinks they are one and at BEST can just seem pained and distant, but that takes an incredible amount of will power.
Lym is also very inexperienced. She is 11, and while she understands the theories behind politics, she also tends to believe everyone until they give her a reason not to. She DOES learn after being lied to for a while unless she trusts the person greatly (She will always fall for Miakis' trolling of her because she views her like an older sister) and eventually learns just how despicable some people are, her default view of someone is positive unless she has a reason not to view that person that way. The only exception to this is someone who she judges to have loose morals due to the way they hold themselves or dress, then even if they are a good person they will have to work to earn her trust.

Well, um, there's mother. She was the previous queen and she saved the nation in the Armes war. That and I don't think she'd end up a pawn like I did, but then again Grandma was supposedly pretty slimy so maybe she just learned in a different way than me. But she was a very wise ruler who knew how to delegate tasks instead of try to do everything herself. I'm not sure her advice was the best when it came to her one tactician, but then again she helped brother and I'm probably just missing bits. She did appoint Miakis as my bodyguard and she's also been really nice to me so that was a good thing. I'm just kind of worried that I won't be able to live up to her.

I LOVE my family! I had a wise and beautiful mother, and a strong and nice father and the best brother in the world! Do you know he started a civil war just to save me from the monster that killed my mother and father because of some stupid engagement. I'm never going through that again though, changed the laws because they were stupid.
Mother and Father are gone now though. They were killed in the war the Godwins started, but brother finished it. Oh! He's the best brother in the world! He told me all about the outside world when I was growing up and he saved me from those terrible Godwins. He also got the sun rune back even though I'm not sure I wanted him to do so. Something about being told that the family had to watch after it, isn't watching a country enough?
3. If there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?
Well, now that I'm queen I'm changing some of the ways Falenas runs, and we're a big country! That changes the world, right? I got rid of the sacred games because I think it's stupid that the Queen can't pick her husband, that and it seems like it was just a way for the Noble houses to set themselves up to be the head of the Queen's Knights and manipulate the throne that way.
I also got rid of the Senate and its Nobles who were kind of corrupt and stupid, now the individual towns have a say in the new Parliament and its all something elected by the towns directly not just kind of inherited. Even the beavers and the dwarves are in it! No one has really let them in before even though they're in the nation.
Oh, I also abolished the Gladiator system so we can see how that works! I mean they were basically slaves before and that's not right. That and a bunch of the gladiators helped brother take the country back from the Godwins.
4. If you could be reborn as someone else, who would you be? Why?
I don't know if I want to be someone else. I'd like to be me without the civil war and mother and father still alive. I mean in the end that was all good and all, but I'm not really confident of my ability to be a strong Queen like mother. I put good people in places to advise me but I'm not sure. It's really not something I've ever thought about much. I guess there were a few times I wished I could go out and see the country like brother but in the end, if I could be someone else, I'd like to be the me that was able to grow into her role as opposed to the me that was just thrown into it in the middle of a coup that turned into a messy civil war.
5. Describe the happiest and saddest moments of your life.
The happiest moment of my life. Hrm, I've had a lot of them, but I think it was when brother rescued me from the Godwins and brought back the Sun Rune. When Gizel had that sword at my neck I knew he wasn't going to kill me, but between my outright telling him that and brother, I was actually free to do what I wanted again, and then I was also reunited with Miakis! She's like the older sister I never had!
The saddest moment would be when I found out mother and father were killed, and they blamed it on George, then blamed brother for starting a civil war. I couldn't do anything, they threatened Miakis if I tried to do anything and I didn't want to let them have the satisfaction of seeing me cry. That year was miserable. I was stuck as a pawn too by the people who killed my family, and they were running my country into the ground. I never want to go through something like that again.
