Applications
PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!
Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.
The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.
Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
Re: Revision Request
As to his weakness to women, I can easily think of three instances where this was an actual weakness. It's clear that he's quite interested in women as he's practically Sanji's partner in crime. Some examples of this are when Brook and Sanji are dancing with each other on the way to Fishmen Island because they are excited about seeing mermaids, even though at the time Sanji kept getting nosebleeds, and literally just because they were dancing about it, Sanji got a nosebleed despite Usopp and Chopper's attempts to keep helping Sanji through that difficulty, Brook exacerbated it. Even in Punk Hazard when Sanji was in Nami's body he volunteered to take Sanji out into the snow Nami realized she had to send Zoro because Brook couldn't be trusted alone with Sanji. Seen here. Brook is nowhere near as severe as Sanji, but he gets distracted in the middle of battles or important situations over women.
During his final farewell concert as Soul King, even when the marines were surrounding him, he was more distracted by the women in the audience, than focusing on the danger. This can also be attributed to his willingness to wait for the right time and rescue, but even in the battle on Fishman Island, Brook was more focused on making Shirahoshi laugh, and asking to see Nami's panties. In this scene, Brooke went across the entire battlefield just on the spare thought to ask Nami if he could see her panties. While this could be considered part of his panty weakness, it also severely ties in with his weakness to women. He ended up getting stabbed for it, and that wasn't even when a lady was trying to seduce him, and in fact, hadn't even been paying him any attention at all. Which shows he's very easily distracted by women to the point of prioritizing them over fighting.
In as much as Chopper, Luffy, and Usopp get distracted by “cool” things such as lasers, or Franky's robotics, Brooke as a more adult male is distracted by women. Indeed, it's not that women are an extension of his love for panties, rather than that the entire reason he wants to see panties is because of the hidden connotations for women. Proof of such is when he tells the men of Namakura Island That he doesn't need to see the men's panties. He got a nosebleed upon hearing that mermaids don't wear panties, seen here and got so enraptured with the idea of meeting mermaids that he went off to find some rather than find the rest of his crew to come with him. I maintain it's very unlikely than any women would be willing to try to use this weakness against Brook because of the levels they'd have to go to for it, but merely that it is possible, and as a distraction, it's a very big hindrance. Even his ability to separate his soul from his body caused Usopp envy, because Usopp knew from Brook's nosebleed and taunting while explaining it, that he'd probably been using it for spying on women.
Even Brook's song Bone to Be Wild makes reference of him hitting on women and in a more wish fulfillment way, claims to make out with women "you need calcium more than protein" and claims that women love contrast of afro on bone. His Soul King persona works more in his favor than not, as seen with how even mermaids do seem to be fans (and don't wear panties) but were a woman from another world in Luceti (or simply someone wishing to go to that level) to use this against him, it could present a serious problem for him.
On the madness note, there are several instances post timeskip where Brook continues talk to himself even though no one is listening. Along the way to Fishman Island we have this scene and in Punk Hazard when Brook's alone again, he repeats his old Humming Swordsman techniques of talking to himself out loud and humming to stave off fear. Talking to yourself out of loneliness is usually a good indication that your sanity might not be entirely intact. Another terrific example of his mental instability being a weakness is when the new fishmen pirates think that Brooke is just a corpse. He was almost given the chance to free Zoro and Usopp from their cage, but couldn't resist the urge to crack a joke, revealing that he was in fact alive. This promptly got him trapped in the cage with both Zoro and Usopp, see here. Fantasia itself is an example of mass hallucination, almost as though those ensnared by it are joining in exactly what Brook wants them to envision, but it's still something not really there.
Brook isn't chronically depressed or alone, but he is constantly fighting off depression, on the case of everyone including himself. He made Shirahoshi laugh in battle, and he would rather crack jokes than fight or even just stay silent. When he was kidnapped by the double-jointed slavers on Namakura Island, in his head he was telling Luffy not to lose heart and to sing when sad. Then he himself turned that loneliness and pain into song and inspired the people who'd come to see the freak show. He isn't generally depressed, because he has the drive to cheer up others and thus himself along with it. While it may be his greatest weakness, it is also his greatest strength because he tries to combat it at every turn. He is still clearly holding onto the memories of Laboon and the Rumbar pirates, which is why with every whale he sees he calls out “LABOON!” and has an intense fondness for whales because of it. He was moved to tears at the sight of the Island Back whales as they were the same kind of whales as Laboon. Even his desire to cheer up everyone with music (even while in a cage) is a remnant of the Rumbar Pirates and his long-lasting tribute to them. To me this means that the Rumbar pirates aren't far from his thoughts at any given time, and he honors them in almost every smile he makes.
When it comes to his fear of losing his crew the same way, I feel that the way he threw himself in the way of Kuma first was a decent indication of his fear of losing them. He was willing to sacrifice his own life rather than see the crew destroyed before his eyes. His fear of losing his crew mostly lies in that he truly never wants to be alone again. For instance, Brook would rather be enslaved by the double-jointed slavers on Namakura Island, than be alone again. He likely could have found a chance to escape, but then he would be alone again, so he'd rather even be in a freak show than alone.
As a final note, I'd also like to say that these weaknesses aren't things that necessarily have been exploited against him, but that they are weaknesses that could potentially be exploited. As Luceti is a pan-fandom RP, I thought it might be beneficial to other players to know things that Brook would potentially be weak to. So for instance, I had suggested that someone might be able to see into his past and start blaming him for things from it. Obviously this hasn't actually happened in One Piece, but there are many characters with powers similar to that, that Brook might run into in a setting such as Luceti.
