Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

FANDOM CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Strengths:
+ Physical strength. As a child, she picked up a boy and swung him around like he was nothing, and then proceeded to beat on him for picking on her. When that same boy's older brother came to beat her up instead, she was eventually able to turn the tables on him and win against him. That strength carried into adulthood.

+ Agile and good at Taijutsu. If the genin she beat up as a child is anything to go by. Those aren't skills a shinobi loses.

+ Fiercely loyal to her family, and very much protective over them. She was wiling to and did, sacrifice her life for her son.

+ Possesses a unique chakra and (clan-renowned) vitality that allows her to live through something that would/could potentially kill another person. She is the only one in history to date that has survived the extraction of a tailed beast.

+ Although Kushina has a very quick temper, it also cools down just as easily unless she's actually hurt over something. See weaknesses for examples.

+ Very upbeat and positive. There are few panels or frames where she isn't smiling while she's talking about less tense things.

+ Great with sealing techniques, as taught to her by clansman. In fact, she is the one who taught the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, how to perform the sealing techniques he used on both her and Naruto.

Weaknesses:
- Her temper. Instances of this are when she meets older Naruto for the first time where she knocks him in the head for not knowing who she was. Another is as a child she would be seen bullying the bullies and screaming at Minato when she was upset.

- While Kushina is very cheerful, it's obvious what her emotional state is just by looking at her. She often blushes, shows her anger/annoyance, happiness, and sadness. At one point Naruto notes that he knows why Shikamaru says women are scary.

- Her family. Should they be in danger she would sacrifice herself for them, if it meant they stayed alive just a little bit longer because of her. Kushina and Minato both died sacrificing themselves to save Naruto and the village.

- Bad at ninjutsu. She freely admits this as she's nagging baby Naruto just before dying.

Samples

First Person: [accidental audio]

[There is a book laying on a near by table that Kushina doesn't see as she rushes toward a window. The first rustle of wind doesn't even jostle the pages, however when she flings the window open, the book does the same. The first thing she deems to greet Luceti with is a heart-felt, angry cry.]

WHERE IS MINATO!? Where's my perfect afterlife!? I want...!

[But then it stops, the words dying mid-sentence as a wave of emotion tears into her. Whatever anger she felt quickly faded, in lieu of grief.]

Naruto... Minato...

[It's quiet and sounds as though Kushina is on the verge of tears, if not already crying.]

This isn't the afterlife, I know it. It doesn't feel right. It's too real. I shouldn't be able to feel pain, y'know!

[Kushina slumps to the floor, the sound reverberating softly in the near-empty room. What was she supposed to do here? What was this place, even?]

I don't want to be alive without... without either of my most precious family. But wherever this is, Naruto... Minato... stay safe. I'll be with you when I can... I love you, my precious men.

Third Person:
The room was dimly lit by a small stream of moonlight filtering past partially open curtains. Kushina could see practically nothing but the silhouettes of furniture in the room, and noted that she was laying on something fluffy and soft. Seeing didn't have anything to do with how wrong it felt, though. It was too real. She could feel something. The pain in her shoulder blades was evidence of that, it's sting biting into her like a slowly healing wound.

Was this the afterlife?

Rolling onto her side, the habenero-haired kunoichi hissed as the wounds on her shoulder reminded her of their presence and pushed herself up into a seated position. She didn't know what it was on her back that made her ache so bad, but there were two resounding thoughts screaming in her mind that overpowered it. Where was Minato, and where was she? The former of the thoughts the louder of the two. If this was the afterlife, where was her husband - the father of her child and love her of life? They were supposed to be together in death. Supposed to meet up in the afterlife and wait for their son to return to them one day when he was old with grand children of his own. She was sure of it. So where was she?!

Bare feet padded against hard wood flooring as she made her way toward the moonlight and flung the curtains aside. The view outside was... it was nothing like she pictured the afterlife to be. It wasn't the home she shared with one of the two most important people in her life. It wasn't even a mock version of Konoha, nor did it resemble anything she knew at all.

It pissed her off.

Quickly, Kushina flung the window open and stuck her head out, hands braced on the ledge as she screamed. "WHERE IS MINATO!? Where's my perfect afterlife!? I want...!"

The words died in her throat, nails biting into the wood below. If Kushina had to live without Minato or Naruto, it would break her.

NOTE: As I'm a paranoid cookie and will be busy by the 7th (my mom's birthday) I'm submitting before any mod reply on my question. If this is not okay, please tell me. I'm unsure if the time frame I'm taking Kushina from is allowed or not. Can easily guide it to a different part of the chapter.
