PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!
Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.
The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.
Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
Canon Update: Bruce Banner (The Incredible Hulk) | Avengers: EMH 2/?
Bruce
Bruce Banner-- or perhaps better known as his alter ego, the Hulk—was just a normal scientist. And despite being a super genius, he tried to live his life as an everyday person. That is, until one day when he risked his life to save a kid by the name of Rick Jones from a Gamma radiation bomb. He was hit by the gamma rays of it which unleashed an inner persona of internal anger and rage. It drastically changed his appearance, and an onlooker dubbed this creature as only a “Hulk”. And since then, that is the name it has kept for itself. This alternate persona most likely stems from the rough child hood Bruce had with his abusive father, Brian Banner. Throughout his childhood he suffered numerous forms of abuse from his Father before he ultimately ended up killing his mother in one of his many fits of alcoholic rage. This is where the Hulk comes from. Years of suppressed and pent up anger that he never truly let out until the gamma rays hit him.
At first Bruce Banner had absolutely no control over this transformation into the Hulk. Matter of fact, he was scared beyond belief of the goliath, and most threats or physical hits would cause his transformation. This was during the Hulk vs. movies, where often times he is seen either panicked or frightened when he does make an appearance. The Hulk scares this Bruce and he is similar to how he was in the earlier comics, suggesting that he hadn’t been Hulk for long enough to have figured out a way of keeping the creature even slightly under control.
At some point later on (During EMH), he still hasn’t gained exact control over the beast. He, however learns how to somewhat guide his actions. He begins to appear to the Hulk in the form of hallucinations. Guiding him and generally giving him good advice for what he hopes will be a favorable outcome. During the show, Bruce acts as the Hulk’s conscious, and while he doesn’t control him per se, the Hulk does tend to take his advice seriously. As seen when he was Enchanted by Amora and her imitating Bruce caused his actions to drastically change for the worse towards his teammates. Although this was also caused by the fact that Bruce’s inner subconscious mind that dwells within the Hulk was “locked out” so to speak. This, as well as him being split from the Hulk in Hulk vs. Thor, suggests that Bruce is the only conscious side of the Hulk. The only way the world breaker can distinguish good from bad. Without him, he is just a mindless monster.
Once Bruce finally figures that out and begins to converse with the Hulk, he realizes that the Hulk isn’t just a monster like he thought he was. He’s more like misunderstood giant who no one will give a chance. He gives up trying to cure the Hulk and starts to embrace the fact that he can, in fact, be used to do good. To help people. This is why Bruce asks the Hulk to help Thor and the other superheroes fight Graviton despite the condition Hulk gave him about he not wanting to turn into Banner anymore if he did. So the world could see the good side of him like he finally did (And, another bigger reason was likely so that he could stop being a world renown criminal)
In spite of all the pain and terror the Hulk has caused him, the Bruce in EMH is seen finally accepting this responsibility (he even transforms into the Hulk purposely to go save the other Avengers) and learning to deal with him, even going as far as to build up a sort of mutual bond or respect with him. Although he prefers life without him, he knows he can never cure him, and thus he decides to make the most of it and use the green goliath as a way of helping and protecting people. The Bruce that is seen in the Hulk Vs. movies comes off as a sniveling coward who can’t see Hulk as anything more than a tremendous burden on his life, and wishes for it all to just go away or disappear. Just this is proof of how much development and character he has managed to grow over the time between just the two movies, Wolverine and the Xmen and now Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
In Season 2 it’s revealed that after the Hulk joined the Avengers, Bruce only gets to “be himself” once a month, which doesn’t even equate to two weeks a year. To prove the Hulk is not a monster and can actually be used for good, he is willing to sacrifice a great deal. Basically letting himself become the secondary persona in favor of the Hulk. This shows an incredible amount of mental strength as well as character development. Because from the Hulk Vs. movies, it was clear that Bruce was mainly concerned for himself. Even going as far as to, at first, reject Thor’s offer of saving Asgard because he didn’t want the Hulk persona back in him again. At this point in his life he seems to be more than willing to take up that role if it means Hulk can finally be left alone by the military and become a true hero. That being said, Bruce obviously isn’t doing this to be some kind of saint or martyr. Hulk being left alone and not being regarded as a monster would mean HE would also be the same. It could be assumed that by doing all of this and by sacrificing so much of his time for the Hulk, he is hoping to get a sort of sense of “peace” as well.
Although they are two different personas, it should be noted that they spawn from the same mind. And in the comics it’s even hinted at on multiple occasions that what they both want aren’t really all that different. So it can indeed be assumed that Bruce is hoping to achieve the same kind of peace one day that Hulk constantly desires. He’s come to grips with the fact that he will never rid himself of the Hulk permanently, but he figures he can, at the very least, have peace of mind in the fact that he isn’t known as an international criminal. And even as an Avenger, the Hulk isn’t exactly the most trusted member of the team. He’s a loose cannon, so it doesn’t exactly seem strange to most when he goes on a rampage (As in Deadliest Man Alive. And in Nightmare in Red, SHIELD assumes Hulk is the one attacking them even if the creature that attacks looks different than the original).
