Applications
PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!
Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.
If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.
The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.
Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
3/3
Physical: Being bitten by a radioactive spider gave Peter Parker substantial power. He no longer needed the use of his glasses to see well, and was given the strength of a spider in proportion to his own body, which gave him superhuman strength. However, that strength wasn't to the level of most superhumans in Marvel canon, but is quite enough to get the job done. An example of his superhuman strength was being able to lift a giant piece of metal, as big as a bus, and be able to get out from under it. However, it was more than enough to actually rip up his suit due to his muscles, and nearly took him out from the stress.
He was also gifted with physical dexterity not unlike a spider's, being able to perform acrobatic feats without much of a care in the world. The stamina to back it all up is also present within these abilities, making Spider-Man quite the foe.
Spider-Man is also capable of clinging to walls on both his feet and hands, and can move on most surfaces without sliding off, so long as there's nothing slippery on the surface or his hands/feet. He also has incredible aim when it comes to shooting things or throwing them, able to hit things with pinpoint accuracy most of the time. It couples with the web shooters he created in order to fit in with his spider theme, which allows him to sling around with webbing at a very quick pace. The webbing can also be used as a small projectile, to web things up, or to even blind enemies.
Last, but not least, he has the Spider Sense, which allows him some sense of precognition from anything that threatens his well-being. Whether it something like a city buss being thrown at him, a bomb about to explode nearby, or simply a water balloon being chucked at him from a window, it warns him just before it happens and gives him enough tie to react thanks to his amazing reflexes and dexterity.
Mental: Peter Parker is a nerd. He is gifted with a high intelligence, able to figure things out quickly thanks to his knowledge of science and biology. He was able to created small container that held a liquid that, when exposed to air, turned into a sticky string of webbing and created a device that allows him to shoot it at will just by pressing two fingers on a pressure plate that he places in his palm. Peter is also on a collegiate level of knowledge when it comes to science, being able to intern at a laboratory where cutting edge discoveries are made, such as fusing a lizard's DNA into a human's to generate lost limbs.
Thanks to this, he is also quick to adapt and think outside of the box, and even think up solutions to problems that even professionals can't figure out right away. He was able to reverse a genetic mutation caused by the symbiote alien simply by applying his knowledge to the test and administering a large dose of electricity to reverse it, all on the fly and while getting beaten. He also knows how to mess with his enemies, able to defeat villains twice as big and strong as him by applying solutions to how they work and what's around him, and with witty banter, which he uses to throw them into a rage where they don't realize what he's planning as he goes.
Emotional: Peter tends to keep a cool head about him, trying to figure things out as best as he can and not letting his emotions rule him when he starts to lose control of them. He doesn't try to let paranoia fuel his actions when Venom appeared to suddenly return, instead letting it fester until he's absolutely sure that he saw something dangerous. Most of the time, he keeps that cool head about him when fighting to save people or to stop villains, because it's the only way he can make sure that he doesn't do anything stupid. The only times he lets his emotions go out of control, he's kept his goal in mind when going for it, and did his best to stop what let it go out of control.
Of course, that mostly only applies to when he's Spider-Man.
Weaknesses:
Physical: He isn't the strongest person in New York city, and is quite capable of being defeated in sheer strength. Those are the situations where he has to use brains over brawn, but it doesn't always work out in his favor, and it's mostly difficult to keep up with a constant barrage of villains coming down on him. He tends to overestimate his own fighting abilities as well, leading to him getting beat down rather hard until he comes up with a solid strategy.
The Spider Sense also has a fatal flaw. When there's too much danger all around Peter, and unless he covers his eyes to avoid this, he is incapable of deciphering from where the danger is coming from, and it tends to overwhelm him. There is also the flaw that anyone fused with the symbiote, or the alien itself, doesn't register on his Spider Sense, so it's useless when fighting Venom.
Mental: Peter has book smarts, but his street smarts tend to be on the side of lacking sometimes. Especially when it comes to thinking ahead and in terms of romance. His romantic life is a mess because he lets his emotions drive him in that area of his life, and without thinking ahead, Peter tends to get in trouble when it comes to him photographing himself for the Daily Bugle. His front page pictures have got him in trouble time and time again simply because he couldn't tell anyone that he was Spider-Man, because others assumed he was only taking the pictures for himself and not helping in any way otherwise. Without thinking ahead, it was that sort of thing that created Venom as a villain in the first place.
Emotional: Spider-Man tends to have his emotions in check, but as Peter Parker, his emotions are all over the place. When it comes to his love life, Peter is thrust between three women on a constant basis, mostly narrowed down to two. Between Liz Allen and Gwen Stacy, Peter clearly likes them both. His want and apparent need for a girlfriend drove him all over the place, unable to control himself from lusting after most beautiful women he met. And it tended to hurt people around him. Eventually, it led up to him about to ask Gwen out, only to be met with Liz's open affections first, letting him date her over Gwen, despite Gwen showing affection as well.
Yeah. He's an idiot.

First Person: Training Wings Thread
Third Person:
Oh boy, stretching was an awful idea. Usually, stretching would get one in shape for a day of strenuous physical exercise. But when someone -- like good old Peter Parker -- had their wings bandaged down under a skin-tight superhero suit? It made for some horrible back pain. This kind of back pain was way worse than being stuffed in a locker by a football star back in Midtown High. What Peter wouldn't do to be back in New York right about now, without the wings and back pain.
But it was a necessary evil -- and judging by how the superhero known as Spider-Man was hopping around on the ground, trying to reach towards his back in order to try and alleviate the pain just a bit, it was pretty evil. If anyone saw his wings, which he was pretty sure was a... twisted, but unique color scheme, they would recognize him for who he was. And even in another world, Peter was pretty sure that would be a bad thing. Just in case anyone he knew showed up out of the blue in the village.
Especially if Eddie Brock showed up.
"It's guys like you that's going to make me throw out my back web-slinging... bro," he muttered to himself under his breath as he tried that whole stretching business one last time. No one could see it, but the Spectacular Spider-Man was wincing like a baby underneath that arachnid mask of his, trying to bottle up the pain. It was a matter of getting used to it, and exercise like this was the only way he could. He couldn't have himself being inhibited by the new additions to his body if he had to defend himself, or someone else. Didn't seem like the Malnosso were going to let him live some sort of peaceful life around here.
Without any further hold-ups, he let out a sigh and pressed his fingers down upon his palm, activating his web shooter. The webbing attached itself to the edge of a community building's roof, the highest building he could find. One yank later, and he flung himself from the ground and into the air.
Looked like he was going to have to keep up this hero business.
