Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. You may link to threads on the
trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered. HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. Takashi was that one child that you would always see talking or doing something with someone that was never there, almost like an imaginary friend, but of course it was more than just an imaginary friend. His ability to see ayakashi and yokai (Japanese spirits) was something passed down to him by his grandmother, Reiko. Because the trait was never handed down to anyone else in his family, Takashi would always appear to be ‘creepy’ or ‘scary’ since people would always just see him running away or act afraid of something that wasn’t there . Even the children he went to school with would shun him and call him a liar when he tried to prove to them that an ayakashi was there. Eventually, his own relatives would become so scared of him that they would send him off to live with another part of his family so he never stayed with one family for too long.
Takashi as a whole has a lot of issues mentally, which have all come from this childhood of his. But even though he has problems inwardly, his outward attitude is much different than what someone would think.
Something that may sometimes come off as surprising, if you know his past, is that he’s very kind and selfless. He never holds a grudge against those who were cruel to him when he was younger nor does he judge them for treating him the way that they did. He’s not even mean to the yokai he so happened to despise when he was younger. In fact, he holds a strong desire to help them. Or really, help anyone he can, even if that means going the extra mile and end up putting himself in harm’s way, as long as he can make them happy in the end.
But of course this isn’t always a good thing. Because he can be so naïve and because he wants to be so helpful, he often ends up falling into traps or just dangerous situations in general. This making Nyanko call him idiotic or stupid for being too kind for his own good.
In a way, Takashi's childhood has made him a strong willed person in the end. Saying "when I was younger, I couldn't look at this but now I can." when he was referring to a photo of his parents, he, over time, has grown. Though his past and even parents can be somewhat of a sore spot to talk about, he can face what problems and people he went through in the past strongly.

Because of how he grew up, Takashi has always had a lot of trouble trusting and just relying on people in general with his secret. Instead of going to people for help, he likes to carry the burden of what he goes through on a daily basis on his own. Not only to keep himself from being a burden to others, but to keep other people safe and out of harm’s way. But of course, when he is finally able to trust someone enough to share his secret with, he allows himself to rely on them a little when he needs to. But just a little!

Going about his whole life with people living in fear of him, Takashi only wants the friends and family he has now to smile around him. He doesn’t want to cause people grief or have any of his friends worry about him so he is often forced to lie about the things that happen to him. For example, if he were to be chased by a yokai and got dirty somehow, he would simply tell the person that asked what happened that he just tripped and fell. Lying isn’t something that is abnormal for Takashi to do but that doesn’t mean he likes it. But telling them the truth isn’t something he wants to do either. He believes that if he were to tell his friends or anyone close to him what he goes through daily, they would never stop worrying about him and they would possibly be put in harm’s way. He prefers for them to live in ignorance and be happy rather than know the truth.
Strengths:
Physical: Being an average student in a Japanese school, Takashi is well in shape. It’s actually possible that he is a much faster runner than most kids seeing as how he is constantly running away from yokai that chase him around. He can also punch and kick relatively hard, enough to push away a strong yokai.
Seeing the memories of Reiko, Takashi often sees spells she used to exorcise yokai, like how she got rid of the karime that had invaded Shigeru’s house as a child.
Mental/Emotional: Being strong willed and stubborn, Takashi uses these qualities quite often to get what he has to get done. He never gives up on what he believes is the right thing to do, no matter what other people say to try and stop him.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Though Takashi is capable of defending himself with simple punches and kicks, he is nowhere near as strong as his grandmother Reiko was, therefore he can’t fend off more dangerous yokai. When he is in grave danger, he is forced to count on Nyanko to save him as he can’t do it alone.
After returning a name, Takashi becomes exhausted and collapses on the spot. This often causes him to be even more tired during the day, as some ayakashi appear to him at night, and he falls asleep during the day because of lack of sleep.
Mental/Emotional: Takashi is the type of person that wants to help if he can do anything at all, even if that person happens to be an ayakashi/youkai and this can often lead him into trouble. In his attempt to make another person or spirit happy, he will put himself in harms way without thinking twice about it.
In a way, Takashi can be considered emotionally scarred because of his childhood. He has troubles trusting and relying on other people, even those who are close to him. He tends to keep a lot of his feelings bottled up and never tells anyone what's really going on around him so it doesn't worry them.

First Person: Let's pop this cherry, Q&A PLEASE.
Third Person: As the wind chime chimes lightly in his window, Takashi slowly opens his eyes and turns his head which he had buried into his arm, letting his eyes glance around though they remain unfocused so he can’t see. Did he fall asleep? He doesn’t remember being that tired of even allowing himself to doze… or getting a change of clothes.
He panics and sits up quickly, though almost instantly hunches over in pain, cringing. The pain almost seems somehow familiar... a little too familiar to his liking. So he quickly reaches back only to grab a fistful of feathers. His eyes widen, but instead of questioning to himself what’s going on, he quietly mumbles:
“Luceti.” The name comes out of his mouth without him even realizing it.
Luceti. Luceti was… he was… trapped there once before. That’s right, with those weird experiments, Tanuma, Nyanko Sensei and Reiko.
All of the memories he had somehow forgotten when he was sent back home pour back into him. They all come back to him so vividly, like all that he can remember just happened. But he knows that can’t be true, he was gone for months…right? That has to be right! He started the new term, his birthday passed, he went back to his old home, he saw what Tanuma told him when he got possessed…
...Tanuma.
Quickly getting to his feet, he rushes out of his room and slides into the living room where Tanuma is sitting on the couch. So he’s still here too, trapped for who knows how long. Why couldn’t the Malnosso have sent him home? That’s the least they could’ve done in return for him coming back. That would’ve been fair.
After a moment, he speaks up. “I’m back.”
He isn’t home, just back. This isn’t his home.

2. If you were to become some other creature (ANY kind: monster, supernatural, or even just a house pet!) what would you pick?
Hm… Well, I guess becoming a cat wouldn’t be a bad idea. I could be like Nyanko-sensei and eat and sleep all day.
3. Describe what you might call a good day.
Describing a good day can't be anything like listing a bunch of activities or something. I believe that being with the ones you love and care about the most is what makes a day great, no matter what you end up doing.
4. What is most important in life?
Friends and family. They are the ones you will always cherish the most, even if they've moved away or passed on.
5. What is the first thing of your life that you remember? Alternatively, what is the memory you hold most dear or important?
…Both questions would get the same answer, I think. It’s the only memory I have left of my dad and of the house I lived in as a little kid. [He’s forgotten so much about his dad over the years, how could he not consider it as his most important memory?]
We were… sitting on the back porch of our house, my dad and I were. There had been a garden there in the yard behind our house. It was spring and my dad was telling me about some flowers my mom planted before she died. They hadn’t bloomed yet and he told me he hoped they would bloom every year. [ …He smiles sadly] Unfortunately, I never got to see them.
