Applications

PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION POST!

Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. Please pay attention to the application times and the status at the top of this page!

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE APPLYING! Especially the last few, as they establish what characters can or cannot be accepted.

If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

The old application posts can be found on Livejournal, using the Applications tag.

Here's the application. Copy and paste the text box info into a comment and fill it out. You must apply with the following format, otherwise your application will not be accepted.

FANDOM CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our fandom applications.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

Confused? HERE is a quick explanation of how to fill out our OC applications.

You may link to threads on the [community profile] trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the [community profile] luceti profile page.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Samples

First Person: Q&A please! I feel as though one might help get his voice across better. /l-lol silent protags

Third Person: It's hard to believe it was already a few months since Rudy woke up in this place. Luceti, a strange new world... one that was so unlike Filgaia in many ways. In fact, the first thing Rudy noticed when he woke was that the air felt cooler. It's not as if Filgaia didn't have cooler days... there were times where it did, although they weren't a common sight.

That, and the wings. The initial soreness of those from when he first woke up had long since gone, but even now Rudy was just starting to get used to them. The way they twitched and poked out of his usual clothes still felt incredibly weird, and he couldn't push aside the feeling of sticking out like a sore thumb, even though the other villagers had wings too.

Then there was the Malnosso, the group that was supposedly responsible for all of this. Being taken from your home, experimented on, and possibly forced into drafts; all of those at their whims... none of which sat well with him at all. The thought of it was always there in the back of his head, leaving a nagging, uneasy feeling. But worse was the thought of anyone he knew going through that, which he hoped would never happen.

Despite that, he had to admit the village itself wasn't all that bad. Food that was readily available, a place to stay... all for free. When he first heard of that, it was a little surprising. Was it really all right to not pay for anything? Coming from a world where such necessities were potentially hard to come by, it still felt strange to just take these things.

And still, even with everything it had the offer, there were still times he found himself taking off away from the village. A drifter never stayed in one place too long, there was always different sights to see every day living your days as one. It's not as if he didn't like the village itself; it was just the sort of life he lived -- what he was used to.

A light breeze blew past, gently ruffling his hair. He glanced upwards, noticing the sun was already getting ready to set... Pretty soon, it would be dark and he'd have to set up shelter. Since coming this far from the village, he had to wonder how much farther would it take to reach the barrier.

With that, he shifted the pack off his shoulder to start setting everything up. It was definitely time to stop for the night. There had to be some way to get back home and he was sure of it. And as long as he kept the hope of going home fresh on his mind, he'd never let it go. No matter what happened.

1. Are you a brave person? Do you face your fears or run away from them?
Ah, um... wow, tough question. I... want to think so, anyway. But, ah... I'd be lying if I said I've never ran away from my own problems before.

[And... he's not elaborating beyond that. Instead, he laughs in an attempt to keep the mood lightened, although it comes out sounding a little awkward.] But hasn't everyone done that at one point in life?

2. Describe something you like to do for fun.
I don't know if you'd call it fun or not, but sometimes it's nice to just relax and spend time with friends. It probably sounds simple, but I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. Besides, it's a nice break from all the fighting we've been doing back home.

Speaking of which, when it's all over, it'd be nice to go on another adventure sometime. I think that would be fun, especially if it was the three of us together.

3. Describe a weakness of yours and how you might overcome it.
A weakness? Well, um... I've been told once I can be too soft at times. [Long silence.] Maybe more than once. But I don't think that's bad; having a kind heart, I mean. It's just how I am, and I wouldn't want to lose that part of myself anyway.

Ah, that's not really what the question was about, was it? Sorry, um... [Quick! Think of another answer!] Come to think of it, Jack says I need to work on my "scoring techniques." [Headtilt, then a shrug.] Whatever that means? I'm still trying to figure that one out.

4. Are you a team player?
I think so. I mean... Cecilia, Jack, myself—we've managed to get a lot of things accomplished by putting our skills together. So, I'd say teamwork is pretty important. There's just some obstacles you can't overcome on your own.

5. Do you value yourself? Do you think others around you value you? What would you say is your personal worth?
I, uh— My worth? [Another tough question. He stops to think this one over.] ... good question. I, um, hadn't thought about it before. But I can say I value my friends very much. [Moreso than himself, even. He's selfless like that.]

They, well— they mean a lot to me. Jack, Cecilia, everyone... [There's a hesitant pause as he stops to stare at his left arm, before he continues.] I hope they value me just as much.

But if I had to answer this... [His expression turns serious as he looks down at his ARM.] I want to say my "worth" is being able to help and protect the ones important to myself. After all, that's what really counts, right?
