HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!
Re: Greed | Fullmetal Alchemist
Physical: Greed is powered by a Philosopher's Stone, which grants him two primary superhuman abilities. The first, shared with all homunculi, is the regeneration rate, which allows him to recover from most injuries, even fatal ones, within minutes. His second, unique ability, is his Ultimate Shield. This allows him to harden his body so that it resembles a type of black armor. This process actually rearranges the carbon atoms in his body to become as thick as diamond, and he can selectively apply the shield to different parts of his body at a time. In most cases, he will only cover his arms until battles get serious. This process also makes his hands into pointed claws, and he will primarily attack by trying to slash at enemies. His claw swipes are usually able to match the strikes of a sword (and can break swords that are not exceptionally strong). While in the full Ultimate Shield, Greed has been able to stop a moving truck.
When not augmented by the Ultimate Shield, his strength is closer to that of a particularly strong human, but he is still very durable as a homunculus. He is skilled at hand-to-hand combat and is somewhat cutthroat. His homunculi powers also give him a high threshold for pain, to the point where he has sometimes allowed his minions to "kill" him in order to show it off. He didn't really seem to be in pain from it and at one point only waved a demonstration off because it was "too messy".
Mental: Greed can be shrewd and calculating when it comes to conducting his business. In most cases, he will weigh things out and act only when things are in his favor. Greed ditched Ed to make his move at Central only after he learned that nearly all of the homunculi were dead or incapacitated. Although Greed becomes aggressive when things get personal, in most cases he tries to conduct fair dealings with others, even when mixed with criminal activities. He also is honest about his intents and motivations, with the main exception being his suppression of his feelings for his friends.
Emotional: He is fiercely loyal to those whom he considers to be his "possessions", even if he refuses to admit it to himself and in many cases he is horrible at showing it. Ling's influence has brought him closer to treating his friends and others better. His taste in friends also make him somewhat egalitarian, as he is primarily drawn to those who have been downtrodden and oppressed, with such underdogs being his ideal henchmen.
Weaknesses:
Physical: He is not quite superhuman without the Ultimate Shield. Greed's original body is closer to average human speed. It was only in Ling's body that he was agile enough to be an extremely efficient killing machine who was capable of keeping up with Bradley. There are also several flaws in the Ultimate Shield. One is that Greed cannot regenerate and harden his skin at the same time, so that if one finds a way to penetrate his skin (as Edward Elric did), Greed can quickly fall apart in battle. Additionally, as Greed's armor is formed from rearranging carbon molecules, it is vulnerable to alchemy. Anyone who knows how, can just rearrange his skin into something more brittle such as graphite in order to easily tear away at his body. There is also a limit to Greed's regenerations, the same with all homunculi; if he keeps on getting killed and the Philosopher's Stone is continually exhausted, it will eventually break down and cause permanent death. His body was also once able to be melted down into a liquid form of the Philosopher's Stone. This is not a complete death, as the Stone could be transferred to a new body.
Mental: When he loses his usual cool, Greed also stops thinking things through properly. Particularly, after he first became enraged as Bradley, he broke into the Fuhrer's home and began attacking him in front of his family. Even though Greed didn't care for the possibility of breaking Wrath's cover, he still did not take into consideration that the strongest homunculus, Pride, would be close at hand. Greed has also constantly underestimated his Father and put little thought in the fact that he originated from Father's desires. Therefore, Greed is completely predictable to Father, making most of his plans ineffective, with the primary exception of Greed's final rebellion against him.
Emotional: Greed has been primarily a self-centered person, and he will do what is right for him above all else, although his developments towards the end of the series have led him to sometimes act selflessly. Greed is like a packrat with anything he considers to be a possession, and he has trouble letting things go. Greed also tries to detach his emotional side in order to preserve his independent self-image, so that he will always try to act like his friends are less important that they are.

Q & A
Third Person:
It was an odd sight as Greed marched from the clothing shop to the item bazaar. He had been touched to find his old clothes there without a problem, and they fit perfectly on this, his original body. Greed was impressed enough with the store's low low price of free, that he decided to grab some extra sets of clothes, just in case. Without anything to carry these clothes in, he wound up wearing several layers of clothes and several scarves. He of course was wearing his fur-collared vest over these, and his trademark shades were back. His new wings could barely get any air under all these clothes. It was odd to get used to his original shell again, but it felt a lot more comfortable and private then the Xingese kid.
The Avaricious wasted no time strolling into the item bazaar. The news that this place had no currency was a crushing blow. But he had felt a lot better when he was told that all the items were free, and that New Feathers' possessions were amongst the items at the bazaar. With a smarmy grin, he stumbled into the shop. He then gripped his head in disappointment with a basic overview of the store. "Where the hell are my possessions?", he yelled to no one in particular. There was not a single chimera waiting for him. Just things. He angrily thrust his arm into the nearest shelf and grabbed everything his hand could fit. Some random trinkets, like a pendant and a whistle shaped like some kind of buffalo. His eyes shifted around the store until he found a satchel, and he immediately snatched it. He quickly scooped up every item nearby to shove into the bag.
And old man tried to get his attention at one point. Greed responded by pointing at him with his Ultimate Shielded right hand, which was enough to scare him off. He laughed and continued to grab most of the things he could see. "Who would have thought it could be so easy to have everything?". With the satchel overflowing, he started to strut towards the door, but he came to a stop after seeing his reflection in the store window. He looked down at his new acquisitions and grimaced. "But I don't want any of this shit." With a sigh, he tossed the satchel to the side, and it knocked over a shelf. Greed exited the store and looked around with a puzzled look on his face. "Gotta be something here worth having."
Q&A
Re: Q&A
Ever since I was born - so to speak - I've had this... emptiness inside me and a burning desire to fill it. I used to think the answer to this problem was to fill it with just, simply "everything". If there's nothing left for me to want, I should be whole, shouldn't I? But I've come to think what I really want is freedom. I want to have my own life and my own possessions, without being just an extension of some stupid old man. And I don't want this just for a minute or anything. These are things I want to hold onto forever.
2. Has there ever been a time in your life when you questioned your motives or morals? If so, what was it?
Yeah, as annoying as it is to admit it. Thanks to that pain-in-the-ass prince. Like I said, I had thought that what I wanted everything in the world. Stealing Father's power would be a key to ruling and having everything, but the kid made me look at it another way. Instead of "possessions", I really wanted... "friends". This is a real pain to say out loud. Doesn't make the point less valid. When I look back at it, nothing really affected me more than losing those whom I considered to be poss- friends. And my set-up back at Dublith? I never really realized how close I was then to having everything I wanted.
3. What, in your opinion, is your greatest asset?
I'd answer with my Ultimate Shield, except that smartass kid has already shown me how easy it is to turn it into shit. I guess a better answer would be that I can take care of my own. If you want something that's mine, even if you can get through the Shield, you'll have to find it in my cold, dead ashes. And you'd have to kill me a hell of a lot to get me there. You can put that under "durability".
4. What is your greatest regret?
I killed the the last of my old possessions. Bido was a worm, but he was still one of my own, and he was the last living memory of my old days. Sure, I wasn't myself. That still doesn't change the fact that I killed my friend when he was just happy to see me. It felt like killing all of them at the same time, even if that's what brought my memories of them back.
5. Describe what you might call a good day.
It'd be a day spent with... subordinates, friends, whatever you want to call them. Something kinda quiet without any annoying mess, and it should involve me acquiring some new possessions. I may have realized that I really want friendship, but that doesn't make me not-want everything else I've ever wanted either. ...And the day has to end at a bar, too. A round of drinks can make a pretty damn good ending to the day. I don't like to fight for no reason, but a drunken bar brawl is one fun exception.
6. Do you ever wish you had a regular name? Seriously... who wants to be called Greed?
Not really. I don't see the point of "regular" names. I am what I am, after all. Why call me something other than that? And in the end, it's still my name.
And anything's better than Greeling!Accepted
