Character

Name: Dimitri Allen
Fandom: Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
Gender: Male
Age: Forty
Time Period: After the events of the game.
Wing Color: Slate grey
History: Layton wiki page.
Personality: First and foremost Dimitri is a scientist. He puts a lot of hard work into his research, formulating theories and testing them again and again until he manages to succeed. His main project, of course, is the creation of a time machine. Ten years prior to the events of the game this leads to disaster (the woman he loves, Claire, is seemingly killed in an explosion when pressured to test the prototype of said time machine) and it is after this that his character begins to undergo massive transformations. While he is still a very factual and determined man, he strays from pure science in favor of doing all that he can in order to bring back Claire. Instead of continuing his experiments and research on his own, Dimitri begins to adopt other personas in order to facilitate this goal. Most notably he begins to impersonate Professor Hershel Layton, taking on this guise and rising to power as a criminal overlord. In this way he's able to attain money for resources and also kidnaps many other scientists and engineers to force them to work on a new time machine that will allow him to go back and prevent the accident. Everything he does is for Claire. To this end he abandons both his morality and his career.

It is made clear that he does not personally work on this new machine when it is revealed that Clive, his partner in crime, has instead been having the scientists build a massive mechanized fortress. Dimitri is appalled to learn of this, realizing he has been tricked and abandoning his previous grudges against the real Layton. When he realizes furthermore that his original time machine ten years ago had been successful, and Claire had just been sent forward to what was now the present, he is able to speak with her and attain some closure before the instability of her existence in that time causes her to vanish. Only then is he wiling to let his goal rest, realizing it was never something that Claire wanted.

On the whole Dimitri is a well-educated, suave gentleman, remaining calm and cool whether he's acting villainous or not. He makes plans long in advance is only seen to be challenged intellectually by the likes of Professor Layton and Clive. He is also very patient, playing the part of the false Layton for years all for the sake of one plan. Adding to this patience is how unflappable he is. Even when -- after seemingly trapping Layton -- Layton manages to escape and outsmart him, he remains calm, going so far as appearing to admire the other's methods and cunning.

The way he thinks is very logical: he identifies something that he wants to do or sees as necessary and then develops a plan to see it through. When Layton tries to convince him that what he is doing is wrong he shoots down the other's ideas, refusing to listen and sticking to what he believes.

His way of speaking often lends itself to a flourish of the dramatic and his vocabulary is as impressive as would be expected of a man of his stature and education.
