Previously played characters can return for the endgame using the basic application at the bottom of the post. We will allow canon-updates of characters using the same application, just label the app appropriately.

You may link to threads on the trainingwings community for your first person samples, as long as the thread in question is no older than three months. The thread or post must still have at least ten lines of dialog from your character to be considered.

If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic) or Kath (so moe you died) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the luceti profile page or here at the Resource/Link Directory.

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Canon Point Explanation: The main conflict with the Empire is over, but now there are other things to handle. Leia’s discovered that her father was Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and that she has the potential to be a great Jedi, though she hasn’t done anything more than start with simple meditation.

Personality:

When one thinks of the iconic Princess Leia Organa, many different traits come to mind. The first thing that strikes is how very brave she is. Even when she's terrified, she doesn't let that define her and keep from doing what needs to be done, such as sending the Death Star plans ahead with R2D2 to Obi-Wan Kenobi right before Darth Vader captured her ship. Another instance was when she went into Jabba’s lair with only Chewbacca as backup to rescue Han when he was turned over to the Hutt for a debt he supposedly owed. She handled herself without wavering and grace, even when she was being used as a captive slave as well.

She takes her responsibilities as a Princess, Senator and Rebel Alliance leader very seriously, pouring herself into everything she does with a passion that she got from her mother, Padmé Amidala. It is her duty to make sure that she assists in overthrowing the Empire anyway she can, a feeling she's had since a very young age. In fact, her first sign of civil disobedience was at the tender age of seven, where she led a hug sit-in over the juice served at her school.

Another personality trait is her haughtiness, or as Han likes to call it her "Royal Highness" attitude. While generally a warm, caring and compassionate person, Leia can fall back on the lessons she learned as a child to distance herself from the situation, whether that is from the not unwanted advances from a certain space ship captain or the torture she endured at Vader's hands.

However, she can be charismatic and lovely, showcasing her more generous and patient side. This was rather evident when she was on the moon of Endor and dealing with the Ewoks or when she dealt with Luke initially (if only because his crush on her was something that actually helped while they were attempting to get to Alderaan).

She’s a quick thinker, using instinct and a sharp, natural intelligence to get her out of tricky situations. She is the one who snatches up a blaster and shoots a hole into the trash grate of the Death Star so that she and the others can escape the Imperial Stormtroopers firing on them. (Let’s please ignore the snake thing that nearly drowned Luke or the walls that almost flattened them. R2D2 was there.)

Sadly, she’s also inherited the Skywalker impatience and stubborn streak. When she’s around Han Solo, nearly all of her proper training is thrown out the window for snarky banter with the low-brow captain and lots of unresolved sexual tension. And once she’s made up her mind to do something, it’s nearly impossible to get her to be moved. This is a fact that her adoptive aunts—the sisters of Bail Organa—knew all too well while the princess was growing up, leading them to despair that she would ever find a husband in her lifetime.

All of these traits lead to a heroine who doesn’t fade into the background while she waits to be rescued. She’s perfectly capable of doing that herself, and probably better than Han or Luke, because, seriously, she rescues both of them just as many times as they do her. A woman who is as much a thorn in the side of Emperor Palpatine as her twin brother, whether able to tap into the Force or not.

Strengths

Physical: Being a tomboy her entire life, Leia is used to being active. While she is short in stature, she makes up for it in being able to fit into smaller places to hide, such as when she hides behind the crates in the bay of the Death Star, making her less obvious than Han, Luke and Chewbacca. She can easily keep up with the very active soldier types around her. She holds her own on Endor’s moon, taking down as many Stormtroopers as the men she is with, although not as many as their Ewok friends.

Mental: Leia is possibly the most mentally sound of the entire Star Wars cast. Because of her training as the princess of Alderaan and as a politician, she is able to go into herself, detach herself from the situation as it were, to save her skin. It is how she was able to withstand her interrogation by Darth Vader after she was captured. She is also the one who keeps her calm and controls Chewbacca when Lando Calrissian turns her, the Wookie and Han Solo over to Darth Vader as a trap for Luke in Cloud City. And despite the fact that Han was about to be frozen in carbonite, something that he might or might not have survived, she only told him that she loved him instead of struggling in her bonds. She was also the one who led the group to go and rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt and his carbonite prison by using subterfuge and her ability to lie fairly well.

Emotional: Leia’s compassion for those being oppressed is a driving force for her. She uses her many natural talents to press forward to obtain freedom for every citizen of the Galactic Empire. This was a trait fostered by her adopted father, Bail Organa of Alderaan that led to her involvement with the Rebel forces, but was inherited from her birth mother, Padmé Amidala of Naboo.

Weaknesses

Physical: Well, Leia, like Luke, is of a small, slight build. They take after their mother, Padmé in that respect. She’s also not as strong as the other people around her (considering most are men), and is forced to look for alternate solutions to the problems she faces, often having to “surrender” until she can find a way out. She is also very recognizable throughout the galaxy due to her beauty and status. Her distinct hairstyles are elaborate and also make it impossible for her to just “blend in” with the common rabble. She is literally a woman it would take a Jedi Mind Trick to forget.

Mental: Although with just as much potential for the Force as her twin brother, Leia has never been trained and has a block on her abilities. The only time you see her actually able to tap into them before the battle on Endor’s moon is when Luke was dangling from the antennae of Cloud City and she could sense him so that Lando could fly the Millennium Falcon to where he was to save him from certain death. She is also hot-headed and stubborn, leading her to be unable to even get anywhere near to the state of mind she should be in to be able to access the Force for her first conscientious attempt.

Emotional: When her pride is ruffled, Leia acts impetuously. The most infamous case of this is when Han insulted her after Luke’s rescue on Hoth and she reacted by kissing Luke when it was plain that she wanted to either kiss or strike out at Han. This also leaves her open to emotional manipulation by Han on more than one occasion, such as the scene where he finally kissed her and then left her there for other matters, openly wanting more than just a kiss.

Anything else?: I would like for Leia to come in with two blasters, possibly with her belongings somewhere. She has not yet learned how to remove the block on her Force powers, so she doesn’t have a lightsaber at this point in time. She’d also be coming in with her memories of her short visit from the last time.

First Person: Leia’s Test Drive

Third Person: Watching Alderaan get destroyed before her very eyes had been a lance to her heart. Her home, everyone she’d cared for had ceased to exist in a blink of an eye. And to find out later that it was perpetrated by her birth father was like someone had rubbed salt into the gaping wound that she still cared around with her.

She’d tried to forget it. It was impossible. Even well over four years later, the sight of home planet turning into cosmic dust seemed to loom when she closed her eyes. She and her father had known that it was a possibility. Rebelling against the might of the Galactic Empire had always been risky for them and those that they were charged with ruling.

Losing her own life had been something that she’d been prepared for. It wouldn’t have surprised her if she’d died during that horrible interrogation with Darth Vader. It would have been pointless because she was as stubborn as the day was long and nothing he did to her would have made her crack. It was something she’d inherited from both of her birth parents, after all. And for that, she was grateful to both Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.
But to watch as millions of lives were snuffed out in the briefest of seconds had been heart breaking. And resolve building.

It was that inner strength she called upon as she sat in training with Luke, Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi. Being a Skywalker meant that she should be immensely powerful, or so she’d been told by many people. However, going through her life she’d never considered that she could possibly be a Jedi. It just…hadn’t meshed with her idea of herself. Princess, politician, woman, warrior…These were ideas she was comfortable with. Jedi was a whole different level of insanity that she wasn’t sure she was ready to deal with.

But with three of five greatest Jedi in the last fifty years as her mentors, even in this strange village so far from anything that resembled a home, she didn’t really have any reason to fear the Force, now did she?

In your application you mention a "block on her Force powers." After looking through the Wookiepedia entry, we have found no mention that. Please clarify what you mean by a "block" and steer us toward where that occurs in the canon. Thank you!

This is stated in the section for her adoption into House Organa:

"Even though Leia was rather advanced for her age, having learned to speak and walk before the age of one, she did not show any signs of Force potential—much to the relief of her adoptive father, who knew that being a Force-sensitive in Palpatine's Empire would be a heavy burden. However, she had inherited her real father's gift, which surfaced for the first time in 18 BBY when her caregiver Memily was about to lean on a weakened railing overlooking a cliff. By throwing a laserball at it, Leia alerted Memily and saved her life."

Under the section labeled 'Leader of the New Republic':

"As the New Republic grew in size and legitimacy, Organa sat on its Provisional Council as a representative from Alderaan. Her brother designed a regimen of Jedi training exercises for her, although she rarely found the time or the peace of mind to do them." - This happens around 5ABY.

The block itself isn't a physical thing but more of a mental thing, due to being so old when she finally begins her training and the infrequency in which she actually trains to use the Force. Even after Luke tells her on Endor's moon that she is his sister and can use the Force, she finds it hard to believe it until she's visited by the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker.
