HERE is a word-counting tool to check your 3rd person samples.
If a mod does not accept your app right away, please be patient. We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. If it has been a week with no word, please feel free to message Akai (guynophobic), Masamune (masamune3x), or Emily (spark memories) on AIM, or email them at their respective email addresses found in the

Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!
A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.
Splitting them up will make it easier for mods to process the applications. Thank you!

Emmet and his brother Ingo were born in Anville Town, a small village that could be accessed only by means of the subway system. As a result, Emmet and his family relied on trains in order to access the world beyond and to explore, and it became a great association for him. He got to encounter new people, in the passengers, and he got to see new places every time he hopped aboard. This shaped his behavior later, giving him a great passion for trains. Unlike Ingo, who looked up to their father and respected their mother, Emmet was a rabble-rouser and stubborn child, and his personality was not as shaped by either of them as Ingo's was by their father. Compared to his brother, Emmet showed a remarkable amount of independence, and almost always did things on his own if he didn't drag Ingo along with him. He attended school in Nimbasa, getting in trouble fairly often for disobedience or the absolute inability to pay attention, passing classes only because Ingo helped him.
After harping on his parents for several years, they finally relinquished and at the age of 13, gave the twins their first Pokémon. For Emmet, it was his Joltik. With his new Pokémon in hand, he dragged Ingo around, and the two were introduced to battling in several different forms, including Double Battle. With the journey they were also introduced to being independent of their parents, which Emmet relished - however, it was very difficult to cope with many of his own needs without help, and he began to learn how to truly depend on his brother. Emmet did perfectly fine in the gyms, but as he found more opportunities to Double Battle with Ingo, he got progressively less interested in single battles or working by himself in general. When Ingo felt that the gym challenge wasn't for him, Emmet was fine with giving up on it and going home, though he didn't let Ingo give up on training in the least. They spent most of their time from then on working on learning how to battle.
Their mother became gravely ill, causing their father to shift his focus from his children to his wife. As Ingo was pushed to take care of his brother, Emmet began to learn some of the responsibilities he needed to know from Ingo. All for the better, as their father took off in angst and depression when his wife passed away, leaving the twins by their lonesome. Seeing Ingo so deeply hurt, Emmet more permanently adopted an optimistic view, in order to keep Ingo from collapsing entirely. Ingo had been so deeply attached to their parents, but Emmet took very little to recuperate, and soon made himself the one that Ingo depended on instead of the other way around. He fought to inspire his brother, and he truly believed that so long as Ingo was with him, they were invincible. This carried on even when their father returned, creating a great tension as Emmet often challenged his father for authority in the household.
The friction wedged the family apart, but Emmet grasped tightly onto Ingo, and the two of them decided together to move out of Anville and into Nimbasa. Neither one surrendering their love of trains, they applied for jobs as Subway Depot Agents. With their skills in battle and vast knowledge of trains, they rose in rank swiftly, gaining charge of the whole subway station at a surprisingly young age. And when the concept came forward of combining battle and the subway, Emmet pounced on it and with great passion and aplomb won over anyone who held even the slightest doubt of it.
Emmet was, by nature, the one that got more out of the Subway than his brother. He learned many new things and met even more new people, and as a very optimistic and social person (albeit weird) he made many friends, such as Elesa. He headed the marketing campaign for the Battle Subway, taking over the advertisement and public awareness of the business while Ingo handled the functionality of the subway itself. The Battle Subway opened, and only the toughest trainers make it to challenge Emmet and Ingo.
2/4
Fortunately, not everything gets Emmet as mind-numbingly excited as the Battle Subway or trains in general. Outside of work, he's very friendly and isn't overwhelming (most of the time), able to span out and network a bit. He takes care of the more outgoing jobs involving the Subway, including media interviews or advertisements. He's not malicious at all, even if extremely competitive in a Pokémon battle, and he loves to be around people and to make friends. Like Ingo, he loves it when challengers are strong enough to defeat him, and he always encourages those who fail to work hard and try again. Though he seems a bit chaotic at times, he's actually very structured in his thinking, able to battle very dynamically and able to analyze what's going on in double battle. His span of focus is broader than Ingo's, and his knowledge and understanding of both the Battle Subway and of Pokémon make him an extremely formidable opponent and demonstrate his mastery of battle tactics.
Emmet has a bright optimism that Ingo doesn't, seeing the glass as half full instead of half empty (and you can always fill the glass up again anyways!), which makes for a healthy balance when he's with Ingo. His optimism is infectious, and Ingo's responsible demeanor keeps Emmet grounded to earth - for this reason and many more, Emmet's tied at the hip to his twin brother. He's not entirely opposite of his brother, however, and shares many similar traits. He's extremely responsible and mature, able to manage the business of the Battle Subway with Ingo, and he's remarkably intelligent as proven by his battling skills. He has the composure to handle any crisis that comes his way (just not the composure to handle his own nerdy excitement), and when he calms down and focuses on a battle, he's surprisingly ferocious. Because of all of those years living with Ingo, Emmet learned to be responsible for himself and for everyone and everything around him, which applies to his Pokémon which are very well raised and cared for. Even with his tendency to rush headlong into confrontation and challenge, and take suitable risks for the excitement of things like the Battle Subway, he is entirely aware of the dangers and always takes the necessary precautions. After all, if someone is truly hurt, then it isn't fun anymore.
Emmet likes to think in double. Double the Pokémon, double the trainers, and of course, double the Subway Masters. It's not just a matter of his broader area of focus, it's a theme that Emmet immerses himself in, that is also partially stemmed from his relationship with Ingo. Emmet has a degree of emotional dependence on Ingo. It's not so severe as to be a crippling social disorder, but it is certain enough that it is very unlikely that Emmet would pursue romance on his own or move out without him, lest he leave his brother all by himself.
Even though he much prefers to be around Ingo and is more comfortable, Emmet is a risk taker and often pushes boundaries in all he does. His co-dependance on Ingo does not at all stem from any innate self esteem issues, or shortfalls of his own nature. He is extremely confident and extremely aware of his situation and his surroundings, and he unabashedly meets life headlong in a bold challenge. He enjoys Ingo not for security, but for company, making the co-dependance a derivative of loneliness. Ingo has been in his life the whole time, so being without his brother leaves Emmet lonely and upset, but entirely able to function as a human being, unlike severe cases of co-dependance. But there is a rather powerful effect on Emmet's overall demeanor when Ingo is absent, which does not occur when any of Emmet's other very close friends (Elesa, for example) are off doing their own thing. Emmet will undoubtedly become concerned, quiet, and even worried, resembling Ingo even more in behavior and demeanor. But, with Ingo nearby, safe, and sound, Emmet is perfectly optimistic in most, if not all, situations.
Strengths:
➲ Bold: There's a degree of bravery and stupidity both to setting up a battling system on a moving vehicle like a subway train. There are no signs of anxiety in either brother, showing a complete confidence in their situation.
➲ Intelligent: Emmet is extremely capable in battle, providing a very difficult challenge for those who make it far enough into the Double or Multi lines to face him.
➲ Graceful Loser: When he loses, he does not react poorly. Rather, he is incredibly pleased that someone has surpassed his challenge, and he loves to see people who've gotten so strong. There's no harm to his ego at all when he does lose.
➲ A Pokémon Trainer: And all that that implies. He's responsible for other living creatures (Pokémon), knows good sportsmanship, has incredibly developed tactical abilities, is a diligent and persistent worker - all of the traits that are common amongst most seasoned trainers.
➲ Motivator: Emmet is a good motivator for others, earnestly encouraging them to try again if they fail. It has more impact than it does from Ingo, who's constantly frowning.
➲ Tall: Extraordinarily tall, soooo tall. It's not an advantage in most situations, but if he does get into fisticuffs, he has the height advantage at the very least.
➲ High Stamina/Resolve: He's available seemingly all the time in the Battle Subway. It shows his devotion, but also the physical dedication, able to handle long work hours and still be chipper.
➲ Lackadaisical: Aside from bursts of energy and excitement, he is a very relaxed person, able to go with the flow if he's not the one charging forward.
Weaknesses:
➲ Excitable: That deep-seated passion for trains and double-battling? That usually gets him to the point of not even being able to string together full sentences, making him sound like a crazy person sometimes.
➲ Obsessive: But only over two things - the Battle Subway, and Ingo. Still, these things drive Emmet, and like any obsession, hinder some social interactions if the subject arises.
➲ Impatient: ...at times. This goes hand-in-hand with the previous flaws; when the situation accumulates the things he's passionate about, and he gets carried away, he becomes fairly unable to think of anything else. He has to reach the end of the line before he can disembark, and even simple communication can be a hinderance as he excitedly tries to get right into a battle.
➲ Mild social unawareness: He is better than Ingo by far about getting involved with other people, but that doesn't exactly mean he's better at social interaction itself. He can be overwhelming and confusing, particularly when he gets too into what he's talking about (trains, usually).
➲ Lanky: He's tall, sure, but he's also a little scrawny. He has a height advantage in case of fisticuffs, but he has pretty much nothing else working for him.
➲ Co-Dependence: Described in the personality section in greater detail.
➲ Sheltered: ...To a degree. He spends a majority of his time working in the subway, not because the job demands it but because he loves it. He's ocassionally out of touch with the outside world because of it, and it's a little extra effort to think outside of TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS. He can do it, but it is difficult.
3/4
Species: Galvantula
Gender: Female
Personality: Impish! Galvantula is a playful and energetic Pokémon, and personality-wise is a carbon copy of Emmet at his most excited. It's no wonder that they get along so splendidly.
Strengths: Hardier and more defensive than most spiders. Hard-hitter, uses primarily electric and bug type attacks. Spins spider webs that can carry and conduct electricity. Extremely energetic and very well-trained. Resistant to Fighting, Grass, Steel, and Electric elemental attacks.
Weaknesses: Elemental vulnerabilities to Rock and Fire types. Only somewhat adequate defenses against physical or special attacks. Extremely impatient.
Species: Archeops
Gender: Female
Personality: Jolly! Archeops, while not as much of a spazz as Emmet or Galvantula, is very peppy and extremely friendly, even with strangers. Loves meeting new people, and loves battling even more.
Strengths: Extremely swift, and like most Archeops she is absolutely terrible with the use of Special Attack. Delivers extremely powerful physical attacks with high speed. Extremely intelligent and cooperative by nature. Extremely fast runner, which is how it is able to make use of its wings in extremely brief "flight". Resistant to Normal, Flying, Poison, Bug, and Fire elemental attacks.
Weaknesses: Elemental vulnerabilities to Rock, Steel, Electric, Water, and Ice types. Gives up motivation when injured to a certain degree. Extremely fragile defenses. Incapable of true flight, instead able to glide and "fly" for short distances but with great speed.
Species: Eelektross
Gender: Male
Personality: Calm! Despite being an electric type, Eelektross is more mellow than Emmet or any of Emmet's Pokémon. Generally uninterested in other trainers, but still remarkably obedient to Emmet.
Strengths: Greater Special Defense, and resolute. Has the ability to levitate, making it immune to ground-type moves, which is its only Elemental weakness. Resistant to Flying, Steel, and Electric elemental attacks.
Weaknesses: Meager attack, which is strange for Eelektross, which is mitigated by his more Special-inclined moveset. Can be grounded from Levitate with certain tactics.

First Person: ➲Training Wings
Third Person: There's a lot to explore, in Luceti. Things that most people try to walk past, and ignore, as they focus on their own personal lives and businesses. Emmet, on the other hand, was regularly caught up in the fascination of things. Though Ingo was consistently frowning and upset at the whole scenario, Emmet couldn't help but explore with his full curiosity. Even though his situation rarely changed from day to day, he always found a handful of things to look at.
Today, it started at the edge of the forest, with a particularly chatty squirrel. It wasn't particularly smart, but it was definitely fascinating to speak with anything that wasn't a human being - that was nearly unheard of in the Pokémon world! Before he knew it, he had spent about fifteen minutes just talking to a squirrel and a bird, and drew himself away from the conversation only because he remembered that Ingo wanted him back by dinner time.
As he meandered back into the village, he caught the sight of a little clothes store. Though he wasn't one to play dress-up when not prompted by his friend Elesa, there was a bit of fun to be had when trying out all kinds of goofy sunglasses or hats, laughing rather heartily with other customers. The fellow Luceti residents either laughed along with his infectious humor, or shrunk away awkwardly from his overwhelming loudness. He wasted way too much time there, as well, not pulling himself away until he realized he had been there for quite some time and was undoubtedly late getting home.
He nearly made it back, but there was one last distraction to catch his eye! Someone was sitting and drawing, and it immediately drew Emmet in. In no time, he was chattering away with this stranger, asking how she got into drawing and asking how she did it. Though he knew Ingo was likely worried sick, as he always was, Emmet just couldn't help but fill his curiosity.
But he knew that all was forgiven when Ingo appeared at his side, letting out a dejected sigh but including himself in the conversation after a little bit of silent prodding from Emmet.
