Please be aware that apps are only open from the 1st (12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time) to the 7th (11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time) of any given month. This means that as of 12:01 AM, the 1st, apps are open and that as of 11:59 PM the 7th, they are closed. If you post an application after that time, it will be deleted and ignored. If you want to canon-update your character, you must re-apply for said character with the relevant changes (history, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc). For re-apps and canon updates, samples must be rewritten; we do not accept recycled samples.

We all have our own personal and busy lives to attend to, and there might be a period of time when it might take us days to get to the applications. There is also the possibility that we do not know the canon you are applying for, and we need time to study it. So please be patient and we will work as fast as we can to get you an answer. Note: Applications are not always processed in the order they are received, due to the way they are divvied up between the moderators. If your application has been skipped, do not fret. Another mod will be getting to it soon enough. Additionally, you now have ONE WEEK to complete revision requests and Q&A's. You will be reminded of this deadline three days before it's up. After that week has passed, your application will no longer be considered for the current round. We apologize, but please be patient with us!

A note for applying here on Dreamwidth: Due to the character count limit being higher on DW, it might be tempting to toss the whole thing in one comment and leave it. However, we ask that you split the application up into at least two comments- the first containing your player information and (if you want) basic character info, the rest in another comment (or more, if you wish). This is to avoid having entire applications spanning the page and making it huge.

Age: 16 (but I guess 17ish after the year skip at the end)

Personality:

In the beginning, Zidane’s shown as a pretty carefree and relaxed guy. Not much usually gets to him that easily – and when he does get upset, it’s something big. He’s pretty tolerable of other people and situations to an extent, and when they do get to be too much, he won’t hesitate to speak up about them. While he is still a carefree guy in the end to an extent – there’s more determination there than anything.

He’s also pretty outgoing – he’ll talk to most anyone. He’s a friendly and playful person, especially if you’re female. Why, do you ask? Well, he’s got a huge flirty streak in him. He flirts with girls throughout the game, until he’s (slightly) tamed by Garnet. When done under her supervision, she gets angry, so he learned not to do it very quickly. That doesn’t mean to say he still doesn’t do it – it’s just not as often as it was.

But even though there’s all that, he’s very attached to Garnet. He’s overprotective of her, and will go more out of her way to protect her than with most of the others. Zidane’s very attached to her in a way that when she became Queen of Alexandria, he sat himself in a bar and wouldn’t move.

"I had a whole speech ready for her. But it would've been a lie! How could I lie to her!? 'Good luck, Dagger! I'll be watching you from afar.' 'Come find me if you need someone to talk to.' It's a big fat lie! That's not how I feel at all! That's not how I feel...at all."

Saying that, he’s a very loyal person as well. He’ll protect his friends at all costs, and he’ll try his best to make sure that nothing will happen to them. Zidane gets upset and angry when things like that get out of control, and people get hurt. Not just his friends – others too. If something happened that he thinks he could have stopped, he practically beats himself up over it. Take Cleyra for instance: he expressed frustration that he couldn’t stop the eidolon from completely destroying the place.

On a lighter note, he finds joy in teasing other people – especially Steiner (fondly nicknamed as Rusty). It was a pastime he had going there, one where it usually ended up with Steiner yelling. It amused Zidane to no end however, and never really gave up on it. He’s also got a sarcastic streak that flares up every now and then along with his teasing, making him quite the insufferable boy sometimes.

Probably from being raised by Baku, it gave Zidane the ability to think on his feet. If he doesn’t have a plan already in his head, it doesn’t take him long to come up with at least something to go on. If not, then hey – go along with it and see what happens, right? He’s resourceful, and can use lots of things to his advantage if he needs to.

Though whether he likes it or not, he depends on his friends more than he knows. As much as they depend on him, he depends on them as well. When he found out about what he really was, he grew depressed - a depression only his friends could talk him out of.

Strengths:

Physical: Zidane's a pretty fast and agile fighter. Generally, he fights with two daggers. He doesn't have much in the way of abilities, at least not in the way that the other characters in the game do. He mostly relies on his own strength, with the ability to steal thrown in there as well.

He can also turn into a Trance form, which means that he gets a little more powerful and is able to access more abilities by doing so. This is basically the only time in a game that he actually uses offensive abilities like this; and these generally take form in the way of energy attacks.

Mental: Zidane's quick thinking. Being raised on the streets gave him street smarts that the rest of the party didn't have. For example, telling Garnet to be a little more wary of things concerning her identity and trying to shut Steiner up about calling her princess. Even though this may have been a no-brainer for some, it was still necessary for him to say.

Emotional: He'll do literally anything for his friends. Even for people who tried to kill him half the game, he'll risk his life to go back for to save. Take Kuja, for example. Zidane sent the others away in the end in an an attempt to get them to safety before going back to the dying Kuja. He had wanted to help him in the very end, even though he had done horrible things to him and his friends. Of course, this sort of 'I'll do anything for you' treatment extends to his other friends as well.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Even though Zidane's quick on his feet and fast, he doesn't pack the strongest punch. He doesn't have the greatest defense either, and seeing as how he normally doesn't use abilities he's at a slight disadvantage there too. In the case where the party can only use magic to defeat an enemy, Zidane has to sit those fights out.

Mental: There is a slight disadvantage for being raised on the streets. Zidane's had no formal education, which means he doesn't have a whole lot of knowledge on some things. Some of those, being etiquette. Even though he's rude to some people, though, may not be because of lack of discipline but his own decision making. He singles out Steiner for most of this rudeness, even though he shouts his rank at Zidane until he's blue in the face, it makes no difference to him.

Emotional: There's a point where it can be said that Zidane cares too much. Especially when it comes to Garnet; as his mood is somewhat influenced in certain parts of the game because of things that happened to her. When she becomes queen, he goes into a depression - even though he should be happy for her, he's rather upset at the thought that he might not see her again. At least, not in the familiar way he wanted.

With that, he also has a temper when people mess around with him. Even though he remains calm on the surface, do something to his friends and he'll be quick to get angry.

First Person:

Y'know, after everything I've been through, I didn't expect to have wings of all things. Not that it's a completely bad thing, but still surprising. It kind of sucks that you can't do anything with them, though. It'd be cool to fly, don't you think?

[He rubs the back of his head and smiles a little.] Or maybe it's just me thinking too much. I know, I know, it's a surprising thing to think about me thinking. At least, for some people. [He's thinking about you, Steiner.] Too bad he's not here, he'd have a fit about having wings too. Maybe he'll come, one day. He's just a slowpoke, but I already knew that. Until then, I'm going to enjoy the people I do have here with me!

Third Person:

His first thought is that his reunion with Dagger had been cut a little too short. He could’ve used more time with her before being whisked away in another place, but that wasn’t going to be what he focused on right now. Now? He was going to focus on what was going on.

So Zidane gets off the ground, rubbing his hands against his pants—pants? Those weren’t the ones he was wearing before. Where were his clothes?

…Maybe he should do a quick check.

Hair? Check. Clothes…not on him, but at least he was clothed. So that was an almost-check. It’d be nice to know what had happened there, it’s not like he had been in the bars or anything. (Right?) Anyway. He shakes his head to get rid of those thoughts, and continues on. When he’s done with that, he turns around—

--And promptly sees the wings.

“Whoa!” He jumps, stumbling over a nearby root. But before he falls, he grabs onto the tree beside him and steadies himself. Okay, oops. He hadn’t meant to have that sort of reaction, but wings? Really? Definitely not expecting that.

Addition of wings, but he still had his tail. Okay, everything but his clothes and his daggers were accounted for. To be honest, Zidane wasn’t all that thrilled about missing his daggers, but maybe he’d be able to find something somewhere else. For now, though, he was going to have to be careful. This place didn’t look like somewhere he’d been on Gaia, just from his vague glances around the area.

“Okay. First, find out where I am. Next…see if the others are here.” He rubs the back of his head and sighs, before starting off. “I’m not getting anywhere just standing here.”

This would be interesting, to say the least.
