APP EXAMPLES

FANDOM APPLICATION

Mun

Name: This is your nickname, or whatever you wish to be called
Journal Username: Not required, but it is helpful for us to have to contact you. If you have no personal journal, please make sure the journal you are currently using is able to accept private messages.
E-mail: Not required, but it is helpful for us to have to contact you.
AIM/PLURK: Neither are required, but are useful for communicating with your fellow players.
Current Characters at Luceti: This is extremely necessary. Please put the character journal names here, not just the character names.

Character

Name: Full name of the character, aliases, etc.
Canon: What's their canon? Put the full title here! Also, if possible, please provide the English translations of the titles instead of the long strings of Japanese. It makes it easier for us to look up.
Gender: Self-explanatory, but be as specific as you feel necessary
Age: If you don't know the approximate age, just take a guess here. If it's really out there, just put "unspecified." If your character has a physical age that differs from their real age, make sure you tell us here!
Wing Color: The wings have to be solid. Every character will get a set of feathery wings, regardless of who the character is. Do note that you are allowed to change wing color whenever you want.

Canon Point: What time from their point in canon are you taking them; list the most recent event here, "post-game," something like that. Your canon period should be specific enough that we have no trouble looking it up and finding it. This must be an actual point in canon and not something made up. While we do allow some flexibility in terms of being ‘one week later’, we won’t accept made up canon points. Please refer to the FAQ for more information on what an acceptable canon point is.
Canon Point Explanation: Picking a canon point for your character will be very important for their time in Luceti. It affects what they know, their mental state, how they will relate to CR, and so on. This is where we want you to tell us why you chose this particular canon point. We don’t expect more than a few sentences, but we want to know why you chose this particular point. If you’re doing a canon update, this is where you’ll tell us why you’re updating.

History: You can put a link here. If there is a wiki for this character, we prefer a link. Alternatively, you can elaborate on your own. If you have a few links but feel they don't give enough, or if you character is kind of lacking in the history department and you'd like to provide your own speculations, by all means! Just make sure you state what's canon and what's fanon, otherwise we'll have to assume you're trying to pull a fast one on us.

Personality: This here is the meat and potatoes of the application. This is the section we pick apart and pay most attention to; we want to know that you can really get into this character's head, that you can identify what motivates them as if they were real people. We want to see that you have put a lot of thought into this, and that you really have a desire to do this character justice. In the same breath, please try to have fun with this part! You finally get to talk someone's ear off about a character you want to play; take advantage of it!

Strengths: Just give us a general idea of what your character is usually capable of. Also, keep in mind that some of these attributes, namely the physical ones, will be toned down by about half in Luceti-land. We like to see this section broken up into three parts: Physical, Mental, and Emotional. Although there isn’t a fast and hard rule about this section, we don’t want to see a list of traits without any context. Back up what you say by bringing up canon examples of where this positive trait came in handy.

Physical: Although the easiest section to work with, there’s a few things to keep in mind. If your character has special abilities, we want you to tell us what they are. While it may not be as important to mention your character’s tolerance for spicy food, we do want to know if they have fighting experience, super powers, magical abilities, and so on. If you’re apping an RPG character, try to frame their strengths in terms of a real person. Don’t just tell us they have a high Speed stat! Instead frame it that they’re quick on their feet.

Mental: The next two sections are easy to get mixed together. It’s fine to have some overlap, because the two are very closely related. But when we talk about mental strengths, we’re thinking along the lines of how smart they are, how experienced they are, what they’re knowledgeable of, and so on. If they are a super genius, have telepathic powers, can resist mental torture, or whatever: that goes here.

Emotional: As stated above, there’s bound to be some overlap. What we’re expecting in this section is those aspects of their personality that work to their advantage. Things like being even tempered, having an upbeat attitude, making friends easily, self-discipline, patience, and other things like that go here.

Weaknesses This is actually more important to us than the Strengths section, so please be thorough here. This section serves multiple purposes, so make sure you give a lot of thought to what flaws your character possesses.

Physical: Sometimes this can be hard to write for characters who may not have any notable weaknesses beyond being simply ‘mortal’. Either way, this should be a challenge to find in what ways they may be lacking, even beyond the fact that they couldn’t challenge super powered characters. Sometimes, it helps to determine physical weaknesses as counterparts to physical strengths; for example, it stands to reason that a large, burly, physically strong character would therefore also be slower on his or her feet.

Mental: As stated before, the next two bits have a lot of overlap. But specific ideas of what go here would include gaps in their knowledge, gullibility, naivety, subjects they have difficulties in, and so on. If they happen to be easily hypnotized or brainwashed, this is the place to put it.

Emotional: Again, overlap is easy here. That we’re looking for here is aspects of their personality that often countermine their intentions. Things like a short temper, paranoia, impatience, negativity, and things of that nature should go here.

Anything else?: This is an additional section for things that may not exactly be applicable to other sections. If your character has some unusual situation that may require some input from the mods, then is where you’d put it. This is also a place to talk about any specialized items they will be arriving with or any pets they may receive early on. If you are listing these sorts of things, be sure to give us enough details to make a judgement on. Don’t just tell us that your character is arriving with a magical squirrel. Tell us what that squirrel is and what it can do.

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.) <--- This is a test to make sure you read the FAQ/premise/at least drilled a friend already in the game. If we ask for additional samples, we might note that you're free to make it canon or anything you want, but otherwise assume that we want them Luceti-verse. If you researched and still aren't sure what you can or cannot do in Luceti? Make it up. This is just an app, after all, and if it's an issue we'll correct you when we accept the application.

First Person: There seems to be a lot of confusion on this one, so we'll be as specific as we can here. What we're looking for is a first person piece of your character; it can be either intentional or unintentional. We want a clear idea of what they talk like normally. For that reason, we discourage ‘first reaction’ samples of their initial arrival to Luceti. A useful sample is one that gives us insight in the character’s mannerisms and any quirks of how they talk. A sample where they are confused and asking for friends is very difficult for us to make any kind of meaningful judgement based off of.

We are interested only in dialogue and expect to receive ten full sentences. If you wish to inject any action, please keep it to a minimum and do so in action bracket style. If you can’t think of anything to write about, you may use a Q&A. You can also use link to a thread from Training Wings, provided we feel it is long enough and it is no older than three months. Any sample you provide should be recent, since we’re interested in whether or not you can play the character now.

Third Person: Make sure this is at least 300 words. If you run short, we're going to ask for an expansion. Also, make sure you pick a verb tense and stick with it; this section is to check overall writing ability, so we can sometimes get a little picky with it. You're more than welcome to be creative, however; just make sure that if you decide to work with a certain "style" or "theme," that you're damn sure it's a good one. Otherwise you'd have to rewrite the whole thing, and that is so very annoying.

These samples should be written in log-style, ie. the way third-person novels are written. Descriptive paragraphs, quotations for dialogue, the works.

General Advice

Please don't half-ass your application. Make a genuine effort; usually we can tell when someone actually tries from when they just crank out another page or so. Also, if you aren't sure that it's okay to joke around on the application, or to do cute things like omit personal information, then it's probably best that you don't, just so there aren't any misunderstandings. Also: it's poor form to ask about an application's progress unless it's been a bit of time. On the application post, we request that applicants allow a week before asking a mod about their app; please adhere to that. Even if a mod is on and playing, that doesn't mean that they're doing applications at the moment; they might be tired, or maybe they're in-and-out and unable to sit down and read apps. Please just keep that in mind.

Additionally if we discover you have plagiarized any part of your application, it will result in an automatic rejection and you may be banned from the game completely.

Physical Appearance Here you can show us your character. A picture is great, but so is a description. Both are even better, but we need at least one.

World History: This is where you will do your worldbuilding. The more different your character’s world is from our modern day world, the more you should expect to put in here. Things that ought to go here are unique rules and concepts that guide your world. When we get to your character history, we shouldn’t come across any unexpected concepts that aren’t first explained here.

Character History: Be very, very, very thorough here. We want the entire life story. Since there is no canon for us to research, you are the main research source. Which means you need to be just as in-depth as wiki, wikia and fansites combined.
